Review #128: Promo Only: Dance Radio October 2008

Frankie here… ‘bout to go to Long Island tomorrow. Before I go, gotta review tha latest Promo Only Dance Radio series! Not really in a reviewin’ mood but I do have anticipation right now for this CD! We’ll see what happens and I might give higher ratings right now ‘cause of tha 2 special friends I made at my college: Alexia and my dude Foreman. They make my dayz real good at tha college so expect it to be added to tha ratings! Here goes my long-waited review for Promo Only Dance Radio October 2008! Start Time: 10:34 PM | Video Game Playing: Secret Of Mana (for Super Nintendo) (on my computer)

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. 01. Kim Sozzi “Feel Your Love”

I knew it was gonna be on PO sooner or later and now, wit how thingz are goin’ at my college, I’m FUCKIN’ LOVE this song!!! GREAT music (sounds like deadmau5 on tha beat) and Kim Sozzi has anotha real good Dance song on her hands!! :tu >>> Oh wait, different start but STILL LOVIN’ that tha music kicked in SO FAST!! Just ‘cause of tha beginning, I knew that tha part at 2:46 (which was just music) was cut off (‘cause it was now in tha beginning). I still feel tha need to boost tha rating by a 10^th than what I was originally givin’ it. My Rating: 4.7

02. Hilary Duff “Reach Out (Richard “Humpty” Vission Remix Edit)”

Not really lookin’ forward to tha next bunch of songs as there’s 4 whopping hit mixers in a row! This’ll prolly be tha one out of tha 4 that I’m lookin’ forward to tha most. What will tha Duff do now? >>> I knew it was gonna be a cover up but I thought it was gonna be to a Dance song by Faith Trent from 2002 called “Body (Reach Out)” but no, Depeche Mode cover up. Decent vocal start so far, good music. I guess Dance stations get Hilary Duff now before Pop stations, lol. Music iz gettin’ better throughout tha 1:45 mark. Lots of music to this. Oh there’s anotha 50 seconds to go. Wow, nice and long it feels like, lol. Good job on this. My Rating: 4.0

03. Michelle Williams “The Greatest (Jason Nevins Radio Edit)”

Liked tha original so let’s see this remix… Oh, PO LOVES JN this time ‘round as there’s like at least 4 songs remixed by him? Wow, lol! >>> Almost got thrown off by tha beginning for a second wit that rockness in tha music. Got a lil’ better at 1:00. Lookin’ forward to hearin’ what tha chorus sounds like… It sounds like tha same as what tha 1:00 mark was. This could’ve been more trancey than rockish in tha music for this song. Not bad on tha remix. I just like those parts before tha chorus a lot. I wonder what JN remix will be tha best on this CD? My Rating: 3.8

04. Keri Hilson “Energy (Wideboys Radio Edit)”

She has a new song wit Lil’ Wayne on Music Choice Hip-Hop And R&B called “Turnin’ Me On”. I thought this song got old now… >>> Tha beat sounds a lil’ like a different version of their mix to “Faded”. Not bad so far… maybe I’ll have more interest in this remix later. That chorus could’ve had better music throughout it ‘cause it sounded like tha “Faded” mix. Tha end of tha chorus was nice though! Oh look at tha bridge, tha music iz just vibrating in my ears! :) Tha song iz great though! :tu My Rating: 3.9

05. David Archuleta “Crush (Jason Nevins Radio Edit)”

Not looking forward, especially since it’s tha fastest on tha CD… >>> Tha music sounds better on this than tha MW remix. Can’t really get into tha song but tha music iz nice and fast. :tu It’s not as bad as I thought it was gonna be for me. Startin’ to slowly feelin’ it. My Rating: 3.5

06. Danny Dove & Steve Smart Feat. Amanda Wilson “Need In Me (Whelan & DiScala Radio Edit)”

I think that’s supposed to be “Di Scala”… But anyway, ALs are just very low right now ‘cause of all that’s goin’ on wit hit mixers and songs I know. Kinda was done wit this song once August ended. Surprised it got domestically signed by Nervous Records (was gonna think Ultra since they go for Freemasons’s Loaded Records releases). I think this iz a fuck up mix compared to tha original ‘cause tha original was REAL, REAL HOT. Lemme re-hear this mix and see again… >>> And it’s a minute and 16 seconds longer… A lil’ too smooth start compared to tha original. Oh yeah I heard this mix on Radio Danz (on tha blog wit Dance music). Chorus kinda had a good part wit tha music. It’s soundin’ too much like Adam K & Soha wit this… Yeah, chorus best part!! I mean, tha remixin’ iz good but it should’ve been for a different song, especially since W&D are pretty good wit their remixes. My Rating: Original: 4.8 | This Mix: 3.7

07. Sylvia Tosun “Underlying Feeling (Adam K & Soha Radio Mix)”

Speaking of AK&S, here they are, makin’ tha RIGHT remix for Sylvia Tosun! Glad she’s got anotha song and FEELIN’ IT A LOT MORE now at college!! :tu Her voice, lyrics and tha music iz just A+ on this!! :tu I hope this iz tha start to tha CD gettin’ REAL HOT!! So GLAD MCD got their hands on this first! It goes to show you that they care right away (even though they ignored “Head Over Heels”). Hope iPR gets this (since they first played “HOH”). I’m in love! Go Sylvia!! :) My Current Rating: 4.9

08. John Legend Feat. André 3000 “Green Light (Karmatronic Radio Edit)”

Oh shit, a bump in tha road! C’mon, Sylvia Tosun was leadin’ tha way…! :cry: Original iz better (especially wit its like 150 BPM). I don’t like when it sounds all watered down. :( *Re-hears* >>> Sounds too weird wit tha slow vocals. Ugh, 128 BPMs or however fast it iz. LOL @ André 3000’s random appearance after tha chorus. :lol: Well, André’s rap izn’t in this. I mean, good music but someone else who had a SMALLER BPM on their original version could’ve taken this beat. Ugh, MCD for puttin’ it in heavy rotation so fast! My Rating: 3.6

09. Chanelle Hayes “I Want It (7^th Heaven Radio Edit)”

Looks MUCH better! Maybe we’re back on tha road wit this CD!! I gots a high AL for this, especially since it’s a girl and 7^th Heaven on tha mix! Oh yeah, anotha Next Plateau song so EVEN MORE AL!!! >>> A short song… Uh oh, tha beat iz comin’ up!!!! VERY SEXY on tha vocals and GREAT, BANGIN’ music by 7^th Heaven!!! :tu Wow, Next Plateau ain’t playin’ games when they sign songs!! I swear, I’m gonna mention them in a rap I do for a mixtape, sayin’ somethin’ like, “like Next Plateau Entertainment, I’m gonna give you a good deal” (that line would refer to my connection wit Louisiana rappers/DJs/managers/CEOs/etc). Yeah, very consistent throughout this song and for tha 2^nd time on PO, I give this a **PERFECT RATING** (1^st time was “Dance With Me (Klubjumpers Radio)” from DJ Russ Harris & Tiffanie on tha September 2007 CD)!! My Rating: 5.0

10. Brian Anthony “Worked Up! (Love To Infinity’s UK Radio Edit)”

Okay can this live up to Chanelle Hayes? This has a good mix, a content warning and an exclamation point title so I got a high AL for this! Hope it’s what I wanna hear!! >>> Pretty nice music. Sounds a lil’ alike and a lil’ different from Kristine W’s “The Boss”. Vocals are pretty good for this track and this creates a pretty good mix right here. I’m feelin’ it so thumbs up! Wow PO, that LAST second (wit tha “damn”) made you put that content warning huh? LMAO! My Rating: 4.2

½time: ½ and ½ so far. Tha decent hit mixer start but 3 MAJOR bangerz on here so far!! Lookin’ forward to hearin’ tha rest!!!

11. Kaskade Feat. Tamra Keenan “Angel On My Shoulder (EDX Radio Edit)”

Nice original version. Let’s see tha mix PO put on here… >>> Very long intro… 52 seconds long. No content warning wit tha “hell” on here PO? LOL @ you! I guess this mix iz good but nothin’ stick-outable for a remix. I think I’ll stick wit tha original; nice song though! My Rating: 3.9

12. Yves Larock Feat. Jaba “By Your Side”

Ooh this song… Gotta say that… I might have a… **NEW DANCE SOURCE!!** Marywood University, where I’m goin’ now, has a Dance music show Thursday nights from 10:00 PM – 12:00 AM. Now originally, it’s not a new source to me ‘cause in tha Spring of 2003, I had listened to an underground urban show on there (which was REAL GOOD) and it disbanded in December 2003. :cry: I didn’t really listen to them for a while and then, in class, we had to review an hour of music (1-2 page paper). I didn’t know any shows at tha time (I wanted to review an urban one) so I just reviewed an Alternative one. They luckily had some Electronica music play (very little) wit a lot of Rock that I didn’t like. I wrote in my paper, “they should play more Electronica artists so they can get tha exposure and money they need.” Tha teacher called me “a fan” in my paper and then anotha student suggested tha same thing so tha teacher said “do we have any Electronica shows?” One of tha students (who works for tha local radio station there) said “yeah; Thursdays 10:00 PM – 12:00 AM,” so tha teacher put it on tha board and I listened tha next evening. First song I heard was Morgan Page Feat. Tyler James “Call My Name” (decent iPR song). 2^nd song I heard was Armin Van Buuren Feat. Sharon Den Adel “In And Out Of Love” (MCD song that I majorly IC’d). Then a bunch of PO songs came on (from BenDJ Feat. Sushy “Me & Myself” to Lenny B Feat. Nadja “Radical”) and then some newer songs (some song sounded like “Summerfish” wit tha music) and then this played (didn’t know tha ID ‘til I saw it hit PO). I liked it and it sounds a lot like “Rise Up” in tha music. Here goes my listen again! >>> Yeah, sounds nice. Anotha good mainstream Dance song. Nothin’ much to say but… it’s good. My Rating: 4.1

Also: I listened yesterday to tha show for a few seconds all ‘cause it was mixin’ and there was a few older songs mixed… I liked tha show when I first heard it where it was tha 1^st hour of Radio Edit songs and tha 2^nd hour was tha mixin’.

13. Kristy Kay “I Will Wait (Giuseppe D Radio Mix)”

I always hope her songs get out to Dance areas but my sources seem to ignore. And she’s puttin’ this one out on Dauman Music (which I LOVE; great move) but my sources ignore a lot of DM songs. Have no fear, I’m here to love it! High AL on hearing it!!! >>> Wow it only took a few seconds for tha song and tha music to just get REAL HOT!!! :tu Nice fresh, new music from Giuseppe D and Kristy Kay (tha lovely Kristy Kay that iz)!! :) :) Fuckin’ lovin’ it A WHOLE LOT!!! Anotha VERY consistent song!!! **PERFECT RATING** from me!! My Rating: 5.0

EDIT: No wonder… This was my statistically, highest AL on this CD!

14. Savanna Samson “Possession”

Not just Dauman Music but Koch Records iz back!! Hope they have somethin’ in stock for me!! High AL again for this!! >>> Yes, feelin’ it so far. A nice, new song wit a fresh sound. Sounds like Giuseppe D a lil’ wit those effects that happen throughout tha song. Catchy song wit real nice vocals. Wonder what’ll happen wit this song in tha future? I like tha club type of outro at tha end (where it sounds like tha end of a club mix). Nice rating from ya boy, FrankieThaLuckyDog! My Rating: 4.3

15. Liquid Nation Feat. Andrea Britton “Breathe Life”

Anotha Radio Danz song I heard (I don’t use them as a source but when I’m on that Dance music blog, I listen here and there to relax)… Real hot too! Dying to re-hear and glad Next Plateau got it domestically!! >>> I thought it was gonna be a lil’ softer but nice mainstream feel. Wow, HOT, HOT music!!! Real nice lyrics throughout tha chorus!! :tu Lovin’ tha “feels like I’m floating on water” line. :tu **DUNN DUNN DUNN** THIS JUST IN: It was a YEAR TODAY (now that it’s October 11, 2008) that I talked to my boy Jimmy The DJ, wanting his 1^st mixtape CD (who paved tha way SOOOOO much for my connection wit Louisiana rappers/DJs/managers/CEOs/etc.) now that it’s EXACTLY 12:00 AM (only 11:00 PM on 10/10/08 where he’s at since it’s an hour back, lol)!!! It made me a MUCH HAPPIER person and MUCH MORE respected, especially wit these reviews!! But yeah, FLAMIN’ HOT joint right here!! Lovin’ lots of this CD!!! :tu :) My Rating: 4.9

16. Sharam Feat. Daniel Bedingfield “The One”

No need for a “No. 16 faith” now that there has been TONS of bangerz on this CD! It was an import and now Ultra has it… Interesting mash-up (I call it) here. Sounds like new lyrics in tha verses. Tha chorus/pre-chorus iz to Daniel’s 2003 single “If You’re Not The One”. Nice right here. MCD has it in heavy rotation. My Current Rating: 4.0

17. Tiffany “Just Another Day (Dave Audé Radio Mix)”

Tha 2^nd Dauman Music song on here. I have a feelin’ Kristy Kay’s iz betta than this but who knows. Hopefully this iz a lot better than “Higher” and that Dave Audé put some magic into tha beats and didn’t make them his typical ones! High AL on this joint! >>> Okay, definitely a good Dave Audé beat here! Glad he did put some GREATNESS into his beats for this! She’s soundin’ good on this! Age don’t matter honey; you’re doin’ good! :) Yes, I have COMPLETELY FULL ATTENTION on this joint right here as tha music and her vocals get me REAL interested in hearin’ this! This iz like 10x more better than “Higher”!! LOVIN’ it and I’m glad she’s still makin’ music! If my sources ignore this song then FUCK THEM!! Looks like some BIG songs I’m gonna be playin’ for Late 2008/Early 2009!!! My Rating: 4.8

18. Katy Perry “Hot N Cold (Jason Nevins Radio Edit)”

Here we go… MCD got tha… original! :confused LOL! But yeah, good thing for tha remix bein’ on here. Gonna re-hear it even though it sounds a lot like tha original + JN’s style. >>> Maybe it doesn’t sound like tha original… Well, maybe tha chorus. But soundin’ good still. Gotta feel tha JN elements added! Nice lil’ “end of Summer” song. Tha video’s coming out so it’ll be a “Fall 2008” song too. Nice remix and I’m replacin’ tha original wit this remix on my playlist. My Rating: 4.1

19. Bimbo Jones “And I Try”

If this gets a real high rating from me, I’ll be surprised! I feel like there’s a lot of luck wit this CD…! Now they’re tha DJs for tha song so we’ll see what happens… >>> Intro didn’t start wit their usual sound; sounding GREAT! :tu And because it’s Bimbo Jones (as tha group for tha song), that sounds like Katherine Ellis on tha vocals (since she’s a part of tha group; can tell by that loud voice). Nice lil’ song right here! Interesting, mainstreamish song right here. I hope it gets its respect in tha mainstream! My Rating: 4.4

20. Jordin Sparks “One Step At A Time (Jason Nevins Radio Edit)”

*SCREAMS* AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ugh, it just GETS to me!! It reminds me SO much of tha Alex McConduit dayz when I would listen to his shows all tha fuckin’ time on Crescent City Radio (‘cause I started to really like tha song finally after I saw tha video)! I wish things were exciting again (I still got lots of respect for him)… I won’t go there though. That’s what happens when a phase I have dies… Anyway, they put JN as tha mixer instead of Mike Rizzo? Gotta hear MR’s mix but for now, I’ll have to put up wit this slow, 122 BPM JN mix (AGAIN!!). Very low AL. >>> Oh those vocals! They’re so good, Alex McConduit dayz go right into my head when I hear them! Good music here (prolly tha best produced JN mix on here; maybe). Oh that chorus! It gets to me when I hear it!! I think this a good remix but I’m curious what MR did to it. My Rating: 3.8

21. Wyclef Jean Feat. will.i.am & Melissa Jiménez “Let Me Touch Your Button (E Smoove Radio Edit)”

Wonder what this iz… I know Wyclef’s a singer and will.i.am’s a rapper/producer. Melissa Jiménez had one Pop/R&B song last year so hope this iz a good mix to whateva this song iz… None of my sources have tha original/neva saw it anywhere ‘til now. >>> LOL @ Melissa! :rofl Good thing there’s some good E Smoove music in it. I thought this was pretty random to be on PODR… Like when tha title iz said so many times in tha chorus. I have a feelin’ this’ll be a song that gets ignored in tha Rap/Pop world but will prolly be that heavy rotation MCD song, lol. I liked it though. Typical type of urban remixed song that I would like. My Rating: 4.2

Overall: End Time: 12:43 AM. Well, anotha PODR CD that I JUST LOVE!!! Watch these songs SUCK UP SO MUCH TIME at Marywood on my iPod!!! Two PERFECT RATED songs by me, TWO 4.9 rated songs by me… WOW!! No wonder why it has been takin’ PO so long to produce these series… they take their time and find HOT ASS BANGIN’ SONGS!!! DEFINITELY was worth tha wait! :tu
