Happy
new year… ya mutha, lol! It’s ya boy FrankieThaLuckyDog here, wit my 1st
review for 2009, ya dig! This iz tha latest I’m startin’ a review, but I had a
confusing amount of time space during tha day; that’s why this iz delayed. But
yeah, for 2008, tha 1st review I did was Promo Only Dance Radio January 2008, and I couldn’t be any prouder
to say that, tha 1st review I’m doin’ for 2009 iz Promo Only Dance Radio January 2009, so
here it goes! Start Time: 12:39 AM |
Video Game Playing: Zombies Ate My
Neighbors (for Super Nintendo)
1.
I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha
4.0 ratings (if a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already.
If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered
“mindblowin’” when I hear it) so any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0
rating.
To tha artist/producer: Don’t get catchy feelin’s
if I don’t like a song on a first listen. Things could change in tha future as
I could love it, so you neva know!
2.
Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to
tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song
while I’m listening to it.

P!nk “Sober (Bimbo Jones Radio Edit)”
What
a way to start off tha new year… It was two years ago that “U + Ur Hand (Bimbo
Jones)” started off PODR’s 2007; now, them again? LOL… Not really lookin’
forward, sorry… >>> Regardless of BJ’s speed on their tracks (this iz
124, while their others are 127-130), they always have that good beat in tha
chorus. This izn’t too bad for a 1st listen, but it’s just decent.
Then again, I don’t think it should’ve been tha 1st song on here;
why iz there 3 hit mixers first?? Good BJ beat here. My Rating: 3.6
02.
Mariah Carey “I Stay In Love (Jody Den Broeder Radio Edit)”
You
know MCD “stay in love” wit their Mariah/hit mixers, as they got this 2 dayz
ago, ASAP! Let’s see if Jody has a chance wit remixin’ this… >>> I
know I’m goin’ to like this better than P!nk… This has a nice sounding to it;
can’t deny Mariah. I like tha “whale” part in tha chorus. Great hit mixer here;
good job, Jody Den Broeder. :tu Great combo here, as Mariah does pretty good
wit choosin’ tha remixers for her songs. My
Rating: 3.9
03.
Beyoncé “If I Were A Boy (Karmatronic Remix Radio Edit)”
I
think Party 105 has this remix. Do we really need a remix to this song? Just
let it die already! >>> So far, tha music iz DEFINITELY nice, but this
song iz just too bleh… Thanx to tha music, I might see an IC on this remix
right here. My Current Rating: 3.8
04.
Alina “When You Leave (Numa Numa) (Basshunter Radio Mix)”
I
think this iz a heavy MCD rotation song… They just got it 2 dayz ago, and when
I heard tha sample, especially after seein’ a DANCE SONG wit 133+ BPM FINALLY, I
was like, “oh shit! Don’t tell me this song jacked another dance song’s part!”
It did (thanx T.I. & Rihanna for spreadin’ tha germ in 2008, lol), but I
think I really like it. Goin’ to give it tha review right now! >>> Yeah,
that beat iz pretty nice, but tha vocals DEFINITELY got it goin’ on! I really
like during tha verse, when she says, “it’s me… Alina.” :) Pretty nice, and I wonder
how good it’ll do in tha mainstream. BTW, because PO didn’t have each song’s
information clickable on their site, I gotta check tha back cover (now that I
have it) to see what label each these Dance songs are on… *checks this one, and
guesses Ultra Records* Ooh, a big mix of labels here: It’s signed to Rat,
Asylum (I know Asylum for some of their down south Rap music), and (of course,
my guess) Ultra. :tu My Current Rating: 4.2
05.
The Pussycat Dolls “I Hate This Part (Moto Blanco Radio)”
Shit,
“I hate this part,” on PO, when it’s MB as tha
remixer, and not just another HM, but 4/5 HMs already!! Low AL on this right
here… >>> Tha same boring start. Oh yeah, everytime MB iz on tha mix,
I gotta say tha word, “fuck,” in all my reviews wit them! PCD iz not bad on
this, but that music iz just too plain. NOBODY betta beast on this shit right
here! My Rating: 3.5
06.
Soulcatcher Feat. Amanda Wilson “Falling For You (Radio Edit)”
An
original joint… Looks like it came from bein’ an import! *Guesses tha label iz
Next Plateau* Yup, tha label iz right! Glad PO
puttin’ more of that label’s jointz on here. Lookin’ forward to hearin’ this
one (if I haven’t already heard it on Radio Danz)! >>> A lot longer
than :04 intro… it’s more like a :15 intro. I wonder what MCD will think of
this (since they love Loveless’s “Found A Miracle” wit Amanda Wilson). Pretty
nice so far/decent mainstream track. Of course, Amanda does good wit her
vocals. Tha music iz just decent for me, but, maybe wit some airplay, I can see
this havin’ a pretty good look for 2009. There was a lot of silence at tha end
of this… My Rating: 3.8
07.
Lady GaGa “Poker Face (Dave Audé Radio Edit)”
I
have a feelin’ her lil’ rap iz taken off of this… Hopefully a good remix comes
outta this! >>> Nice music, as it was just buildin’ up! At :56, it
finally gets to where it has to be to hit its peak! Those are REAL great lyrics
for me, as I love all tha gamblin’. :) Nice
lil’ mix here. Oh, they kept tha lil’ rap at 2:33. Err-body in tha Dance
world that disses raps in songs will think that tha rap iz so cheesy. Even
though I may like tha original version better, DA did a great job remixin’
this. I like all tha music parts that he put in this remix. My Rating: 4.0
08.
Metro Station “Seventeen Forever (DJ Suraci & Jimmy Greco Radio Edit)”
I
can’t believe MCD got it… After they ignored “Shake It.” :td From what I heard
from my ears on MCD, this mix sounds shitty compared to Lenny B’s mix. Let’s
see if I’m confirmed right on this review… >>> LOL @ how slow this iz…
Shitty pace IMO. Even though tha subject iz sad (“one mistake from bein’
together…”), still, tha original iz a high 140 BPM, up-tempo type of beat; this
just sounds depressin’. Lenny B made it an anthem at least. Where’s Suraci
& Greco’s HOT beats they used in Miley Cyrus’s “See You Again” remix??? Those
were REAL HOT beats they had on that remix. This iz a good, depressing type of
Dance beat, but not on this, especially since another remixer touched it
already (Lenny B). They make tha vocals sound bad on this mix. My Current Rating: Lenny B Remix: 4.0 | This Mix: 3.3
09.
Jennifer Carbonell vs. Friscia & Lamboy “Broken Pieces (F&L Radio
Edit)”
Looks
like this iz one of my first crushes in 2009 (for a Dance song). Glad Party 105
got it, and looks like you’ll hear it pretty often on there. It’s a pretty nice
countdown song for me, and GREAT comeback for JC! :tu Great vocals and nice
mainstream beat. BTW, this became a somewhat anthem for tha last week of 2008,
as on Christmas, 5 dayz before my laptop turned 5 years old, my laptop’s
charger plug died. :( So then, I was like, “tha broken pieces!” This song
started doin’ better wit me, and I’m GLAD my laptop’s “broken plug piece” iz
fixed (got fixed on tha 30th, when it turned 5 years old, thanx to
my rappin’ grandma; she saved me $90)! :) My
Current Rating: 4.4
10.
Akon “Right Now (Na Na Na) (Mike Rizzo Radio Mix)”
Here
come tha fast HMs again… >>> VERY FUCKIN’ HOT intro on tha beat!!!!! I
can’t believe he gave this beat to Akon!! Although that chorus makes me go,
“l-o-l-o-l,” it fits pretty nice wit this beat. I thought this song died not
too long ago, but, it’s back wit a HOT-ASS remix!! Damn Mike, you REALLY need
to make anotha HOT/FAST 134+ beat for an upcoming Dance artist/song; that would
be REAL tight! Thanx for givin’ this mix A LOT of life!! My Rating: 4.7
½time: A slow start, but I knew
it was gonna pick up. I’m glad startin’ wit No. 9, that it picked up! I hope to
hear more surprises comin’ up! I know there’s a fast one (140 BPM) somewhere
towards tha near-end!!
11.
DJ Antoine “Underneath (Nathan Scott & Tony Arzadon Radio Edit)”
MCD
got it… They didn’t list tha mix (just like wit Alina’s song), but knowing that
they added these songs Wednesday, I KNOW
they came from this CD! Glad to hear a long song finally (especially for a
Dance song). I heard male vocals on MCD, so I hope this ain’t disappointing for
me… >>> Slow start so far, but I wanna give it a chance… So far, it’s
my typical, “ignoring this song” type of start. This iz pretty good for a mainstream
Dance song (I must say that). Tha music got better on tha 2nd
chorus. Now, tha 2nd music part (after tha 2nd chorus)
sounds like TA’s music to Fergie’s “Glamorous” remix. Tha music sounds even
better, I must say, for tha 3rd chorus. Now, I see this catchin’ on,
and maybe, a future playlist song wit me. That’s what happens when I’m tryin’
to catch onto a song, and it’s a good amount of length (4:37) to help me! My Rating: 3.6
12.
Maroon 5 “Not Falling Apart (Tiёsto Remix)”
Where
did this M5 song come outta? Don’t know it/not on any of my sources. LOL @ PO gettin’ a Dance remix b4 tha orig. hits sources… That
gives me tha chance to think this iz gonna be a great HM (just like wit Hilary
Duff and her “Reach Out” remix; heard that b4 tha orig. hit my sources)!
>>> Smooth intro so far, but nowhere near catchy as tha Akon one. It
sounds like it could fit wit tha DJ Antoine song wit its style. Again, tha
lyrics sound like they’re more for me, ESPECIALLY for my Louisiana music connection (it’s “not
falling apart”). Not bad on tha vocals, but tha music iz too boring for Tiёsto.
He really needs to go back to his fast, trance style. Ahh, that music trick
before tha 2nd chorus, where it gets better outta nowhere! I think I
like tha DJ Antoine song better; lol/wow. My
Rating: 3.5
13.
Greco Roman “Love Will Save The Day (Bass UP! Radio Mix)”
Amathus
Music it signed to, right? *Checks* Yup, correct. I had a feelin’ ‘cause that
FAST song comin’ up iz either Amathus or Chris The Greek’s label! Even though
“Mama Used To Say” was pure throw-up to me, I wonder what he’ll have in store
for me now… Not expectin’ much, and wit that “Bass UP!” (capital letters in tha
mixer’s name), it BETTER be pretty up-tempo! >>> Looks like tha low
ALs are payin’ off for me! That music iz pretty nice in tha beginning, and
during tha later part of tha 1st minute, it sounds like tha typical
David Guetta type of music, only better. Decent vocals on this one, and it
sounds like a remake. I have a feelin’ sources are sadly gonna ignore this (even
though MCD had that “MUTS” song). I really like it, surprisingly! My Rating: 4.5
14.
Solange “Sandcastle Disco (Freemasons Radio Edit)”
PO Error No. 1: It’s “Freemasons,” not “Freemason” (without tha “s”). Well, even though this song
has been dead for months now (only was on MTV Jams for like September – October
2008), I wound up, surprisingly, hearin’ it wit my stepmom, Raffaella, in (I
think) Acrombie & Fitch (sp?). Only it sounded like a Tony Moran/Warren
Rigg mix. That mix sounded SO HOT, and what do you know? It’s on PO, surprisingly… FM vs. TM/WR… >>> Other mix
sounded hotter, and caught my attention! This has that hot FM music in it, and
good for tha song itself, but not outstanding for me. Great sound for MCD
(especially since they BEAST tha shit outta tha “I Decided (Moto Blanco)”
remix)! My Rating: 3.7
15.
Renée Stakey “Lips Of An Angel (Josh Harris Radio Edit)”
Back
to tha fastness! Another late one for PO, as
Party 105 had it since Early October… I bought it from Amazon, and now, it’s on
here. I guess they’re finally realizin’ some of tha great songs I’ve been
buyin’ (this, “Explanations” by Johnny Budz/Exit 59/Dani Vasile). As for this
song, I can’t tell exactly, but iz it a remake of Hinder? I guessed that from
tha title, but other than that, it’s been doin’ okay on my playlist. It’s good
to hear, and I’m glad it’s on this PO disc for
exposure. I like tha, “in tha next room,” part. Great vocals, and nice lil’ JH
beat. My Current Rating: 4.0
16.
Mischa Daniels Feat. Crown “Another Place (Radio Edit)”
This
iz Nervous Records, right? *Checks* Nope, I had a feelin’ it was gonna be
Ultra… Let’s hear MD’s comeback! >>> Odd music start, as tha music
reminds me a lil’ of tha game I’m playin’ right now, Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Sounds
like we got some strong male vocals wit a strong beat here. :tu This almost
reminds me of Axwell & Max C’s “I Found U” wit that music, and tha male
vocals. I know MCD has an Axwell/Steve Ingrosso song, remake song called “It’s
True,” always on in low rotation. I have a feelin’ they’re gonna be like tha 1st
ones to play this, and have it in a good, low rotation spot. My Rating: 4.0
17.
Kristine W “Never (Love To Infinity Radio Mix)”
*Yes*
“Radio Mix” in tha ID means good
luck for me! Let’s see how she does after tha HOT “The Boss” from (now) last
year! I know they (Kristine & LTI)’ll team up for anotha great collabo!!
>>> I thought it was gonna be LTI’s typical beat, but it sounds kinda
Late ‘90s/Discoish right here. Tha beat’s a lil’ slow on tha BPM (it bein’ only
126; their style iz usually 128-130ish). Tha chorus iz actually hot for me. I
like how tha last minute of tha song kept it consistent. That ending was pretty
nice too. My Rating: 4.1
18.
DJG Project Feat. Kate Lesing “Time 4 Dance (Radio Mix)”
That
“Radio Mix” in tha ID again! *Already knows it’s Amathus or Chris The Greek’s
label* Yeah, it’s Amathus! Glad to hear their REAL fast style again!! Let’s
bring in tha new year wit some REAL fast Dance music; high AL for this right here!!! >>> I
didn’t expect those vocals that quick, nor did I think it was gon be a female.
:) Feelin’ that beat; good job here. Tha good, fast song I expected here. Good
job DJG (tha “G” bein’ “Greek” in “Chris The Greek”) on tha project here. My Rating: 4.3
19.
QED “Gone Dancin’ (Soulshaker Radio Edit)”
I
had an idea who signed it, but lemme check tha cover… *Checks* I don’t know tha
MX label, but, it’s different, so that’s watz good. Anyway, had this a long
time ago (July 2008, during a certain “phase” I had that was watered down by tha
end of tha Summer). I had tha Valentin version, where tha beat was REAL TIGHT!
I have a feelin’ Soulshaker gon fuck it up, but who knows… I hope to expect
good from this “not new” (‘cause it was wit tha Valentin mix when I got it)
remix… >>> I knew there was
gonna be a “soul” type in tha beat… Shit, it sounds too soft… Tha Valentin one
KNOCKED HARD wit tha beat!! Bad choice here, PO.
:td And, as Soulshaker made it big, “shame shame shame” on this remix! This mix
just sounds too different, and less clubish. I’ll chuck it wit that Metro
Station remix on here. My Rating:
Valentin Remix: 4.4 | 3.2
20.
Rod Carrillo Presents Bodega Charlie “Oye Party (Tim Spinnin’ Schommer Radio
Edit)”
What
does RC have in store for us, especially by presenting an artist? Hope it’s
female vocals, or an urban type of song (by that title)! >>> That
mysterious intro; it gets you wondering! Definitely a nice beat, and catchy
vocals. Oh yeah, that beat iz DEFINITELY nice! Good job here! This could get
mega airplay wit me; I KNOW IT! I’m likin’ all tha beat changes goin’ on during
tha 2:00 area. Nice job on makin’ your tracks sound different, Carrillo. :tu Surprisingly,
this iz tha BEST Dance song on here (Akon had tha top song on here, but his was
just a hit mixer). My Rating: 4.6
21.
PAY TV “Fashion Report (Radio Edit)”
Usually,
tha last song for you has always been a real bad one. I wonder what we gon
expect here… Lemme check that label… *Checks* Oh shit, who would’ve guessed?
Next Plateau? Now, I’m expectin’ somethin’!! >>> Great start in tha
beat. Yes, female vocals wit a Popish Electronic/Dance type of sound! :tu Reminded
me a lil’ of Stefy’s “Chelsea”
wit its style. :tu This iz definitely somethin’ interesting right here! REALLY
lookin’ forward to this 2009! Great way to end this CD right here! My Rating: 4.4
Overall: End Time: 2:40 AM. Forgot to
mention that this was one of tha 1st POs that had no “content
warnings,” lol. I should also say, big ups to my boy Jimmy The DJ for that long
conversation I had wit him on tha phone about people in tha music business
before I reviewed this CD. He was tha 1st music business person I
talked to in 2009 (as well as in 2008)! He suggested that I should get in tha
“Guiness Book Of World Records” for most reviews (which means mainly pages, which
includes time and quality combined). Anyway, this CD had that boring beginning,
but then, picked up pretty nice towards tha end! I can’t believe a hit mixer iz
my top pick! But then again, anything happens on PO’s.
