Finally
up to tha Promo Only: Dance Radio July 2012 review; I feel so guilty to
know that I’ve had this CD since Monday, tha 25th; I usually die for
POs, but I’ve been so busy wit college & my internship. Either way, I think
this CD has some of tha hottest Summer 2K12 bangers, mixed with some possible
newbies for me!!! Start Time: 6:34
PM | End Time: 8:49 PM
Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01.
John De Sohn Feat. Andreas Moe “Long Time (Benny Benassi Edit)”
A
lot of actual dance music iz bein’ signed to major labels, now. Now, Epic
Records (tha same label that has Jennifer Lopez) signed this song, and it’s all
dance! Don’t know each artist, but it’s an okay song, overall; I think it
needed a lil’ bit of a remix to boost it up. I don’t remember tha last time a
“De” / “Del”
person had a big dance song, so this seems like a comeback for those, lol. I
wonder if this’ll do better with me? We’ll have to see as time goes on… My Current Rating: 3.7
02.
Zedd Feat. Matthew Koma “Spectrum”
Another
one signed with a major (thought this was gonna be tha song that starts tha CD
off)—Interscope Records in tha building! This shows that iPR’s back; first
unknown artist I heard from them since they returned, and it’s been a grower
every single day!! Now, every dance outlet of mine has this song, and it’s pure
kick-ass!! There’s so much music changes for a song that says tha same thing 4x
(lol); more versatility in tha music than tha words, here! Gotta luv that name,
too (“Zedd”); like, does it mean anything? Ooh, it’s playing on MCD as we
speak! :tu Probably, my favorite part iz tha breakdown at tha beginning of tha
2:00ish mark; all those elements!! Tha first time I got this song, it was a
lil’ pitch-increased, and it sounded/reminded me of a Morgan Page/Lissie collaboration.
Real interesting lyrics, too: “Opening skies with your broken keys.” My Current Rating: 4.8
03.
C.C. Sheffield “Long Brown Hair”
Tha
Tiësto “Escape Me” vocalist with her own song; hope tha good AL pays off!! >>> Sounds a lil’
like a pop-dance start; tha lyrics remind me of another song that I think’s
out, too, with how tha girl “looks like [her];” sounds pretty good, overall. I
have to say, thumbs up to tha music breakdown. Oh, now I can remember: Lyrics
remind me of Neon Hitch “F U Betta”, lol. I think tha verses are kinda long,
but that doesn’t stop it from still bein’ pretty good. My Rating: 4.0
04.
The Wanted “Chasing The Sun (Hardwell Radio Edit)”
I’m
actually really lookin’ forward to finally hearing this! As much as tha “GYC”
(Alex Gaudino) mix started to annoy me, I didn’t realize how good tha original
version was (and, was produced by dance music producer, Steve Mac); didn’t
expect it to break through like crazy… >>> This was an original
version that was okay, but its dance vibe didn’t really catch onto me; it made
me think they were gonna be one-hit-wonders. However, I know with Hardwell on
tha mix, it adds flava; hot original beat turned into an actual dance mix beat,
here! Nice beat breakdown, here; sounds like Rihanna’s “WHYB” format, a lil’,
but Hardwell should keep this really hot format! LOL, turned it into a house
remix? Just a chorus goin’ on, here. My
Rating: 4.4
05.
Antoine Clamaran w/David Esse & Grace Kim “Eclypse”
I’m
really lookin’ forward to this; hope we can have another Summer with AC on tha
mix! >>> Yes, a strong music start; gotta luv it!! Gotta luv tha
long-ass intro goin’ on, here!! Lol, Swedish House Mafia “Greyhound” style,
here, with tha no words from a bunch of DJs? Lovin’ it!! Just like “Greyhound”,
I wish this would get out there and not ignored! Just ‘cause it has no words
doesn’t mean it’s un-radio-friendly!! Some of these hot songs can be a blessing
and a curse, at tha same time. As hot as they are, I’m graduating college on
August 25, but am prolly not goin’ anywhere in August, due to I need to finish
some big video projects. If no one gets this, I’m gonna add it in August. After
I graduate, I’m tryin’ to take a mini break, so my playlist might look kinda
low? I’ll have to do somethin’ about it! My
Rating: 4.7
06.
Pitbull Feat. Chris Brown “Back In Time (R3hab Club Edit)”
Tha
original sounds okay… for pop stations; if I’m gonna see this on here, R3hab
better’ve done a good job… >>> Nice piano part; this original
version’s kinda old now… MCD got a new song wit Gabry Ponte & Pit, which
actually sounds better than this. Pit doesn’t “give a #2;” a part of me doesn’t
“give a #2,” either, but I have to say that R3hab has some hot beats goin’ on,
here and there… Luckily, there’s not much of tha chorus, which really sounds
like an oldies sample (but, iz Chris Brown?), and iz covered by a hot R3hab
sound! Now, hearin’ tha music part after tha chorus, and it sounds like R3hab’s
elements from Gloria Estefan/Pitbull remix of “Wepa”, lol; this iz better than
tha “We Found Love” remix sounds, though. My
Rating: 3.9
07.
DJ Pauly D Feat. Dash “Night Of My Life”
Jersey Shore in tha build………ing…… Of course, I sampled
it, and thought it was another pop world song tryna go dance. Then again, as a
DJ, from what I’ve randomly seen, DJ PD plays
some decent dance music, on some of them Jersey
Shore episodes… >>> Tha title and tha expectations reminds me of
tha Lucas Prata/Lenny B song from 5 POs ago. Not too bad wit tha chorus, but no
need to hear this. Ugh, yucky lyrics on tha 1st verse; hate hearin’ about “cash” ‘cause I know they don’t really have it! Ahh,
more “money” shit on tha 2nd verse; no need to be obsessed! I’m
startin’ to think tha chorus sounds like a male jackin’ of “We Run The Night”
wit both tha music and how tha title sounds, at times. Oh, of course, tha
dubstep-y breakdown; doesn’t every
song need to have that? *No comment* My
Rating: 3.2
08.
Jennifer Lopez Feat. Lil’ Jon “Goin’ In (Michael Woods Remix Edit)”
Lol;
looks like it’s been a trend of pop-dance sounders wit tha same kinda people on
tha songs that are taking over tha music/TV world. >>> Female version
of “Night Of My Life”? LOL, tha title’s like a Lil’ Wayne song; weird, but nice music goin’ on,
here… Huh? Where’d that Lil’ Jon, “Put ya—put ya hands up,” come from, right
before tha music breakdown? Guess I’ll just throw him in tha feature, too…
Sounds like an interesting combination of J. Lo & MW on tha mix, even
though it don’t sound like tha typical MW I would expect. Sounds good, but I
guess there’s no Flo Rida rappin’, here, so I’ll take him outta tha feature. My Rating: 4.1
09.
Rebecca & Fiona “Jane Doe”
Sometimes,
not too crazy about them (ignored tha Kaskade song they were on that was on MTV
Hits); how will this sound? >>> Ooh, liking tha music, here; I think
I’m gonna like this… Sounds like an interesting song; it could sound like it
could be pop-friendly, but I dunno if pop wants to bring non-DJs out there,
smh. Interesting song, overall; I think this’ll be their chance for me,
finally. My Rating: 4.3
10.
Kelly Clarkson “Dark Side (Papercha$er Radio Mix)”
New
to tha dance remixing scene, I think Papercha$er sounds like a rap name. Lol,
these combinations sound funny, at times, but we’ll see how good of a HM
this’ll be. >>> Sounds d5ish, wit this remix… Ooh, big transition to
tha chorus; here come tha hot beats and tight vocals from KC! Nice combination
goin’ on, here; glad every remixer’s aiming at tha hot beats!! Also, everyone
puts a beat after tha chorus, too; sounds funny to do that, at times, but they
usually turn out tight. Surprisingly, I neva heard tha original version, yet; I
must be so out of touch wit tha pop stations, half tha time. Then again, when
I’m at my internship, they sometimes have tha pop stations on in tha car. I was
surprised to hear that “Titanium” crossed over to pop; didn’t think tha pop
audience would like a song like that, especially wit it bein’ Sia on tha
vocals. My Rating: 4.2
½time: Seems like a really good
CD, so far; quite a bit of HMs in tha way, but I can deal wit ‘em… A 4.1 for
tha average CD rating, currently!
11.
Luke Potter “We’re Alive (Lenny B Mix)”
Finally,
an unknown label on this PO! Really lookin’
forward, male vocalist or not!! >>> Music doesn’t exactly sound like
LB; sounds more Kaskadeish, but we’ll see how this progresses ‘cause it ain’t
too bad, so far… Kinda disappointed wit tha music, a lil’, but it’s slowly
buildin’ up toward tha end of tha chorus… Lol, I’m surprised I like tha Kelly
Clarkson remix better than this? Wouldn’t’ve guessed; you neva know where your AL’ll go, lol. Also,
what’s up wit tha lil’ girl’s “ahhh, ahhh”? Vocals are now soundin’ like it
could’ve been from tha rock world… My
Rating: 3.7
12.
Outasight “Now Or Never (Chris Cox Radio Edit)”
I
think this pop-rapper’s gonna be a one-hit-wonder for that “Tonight Is The
Night” song from 5 POs ago. I heard tha original version to this while at my
internship (in tha news car); knew tha voice, and was like, “He has another
song out?” For some reason, I can’t picture certain people with multiple songs,
but I hope this mix actually has quality, not confusion like tha LB
mix from tha last song! >>> Singing, lol? Okay, here’s tha rappin’; I
feel like he’s jackin’ Example’s style, in a way, but gets to go pop? Music
wise, this sounds pretty nice; I can deal with this, in a way. Tha chorus
sounds pretty tight, too. Yea, sounds like a great chorus combination wit tha
music and tha vocals, surprisingly. I agree: “We do what we want!” My Rating: 4.1
13.
Olly Murs “Heart Skips A Beat (Smash Mode Remix Radio – No Rap Edit)”
Liking
tha ID but not some of tha mix ID, lol. I still think this iz gonna be a hot
song, but it’s with a major label, too, so I hope it’s not too poppy…
>>> Already not liking tha start, too much; boring music for SM? :?
Ugh, boring music and song; some of these ALs are throwin’ me off… Why would a
corny song like this even have a rap
in it, anyway? Ahh, tha music’s gettin’ a lil’ tighter as this progresses… This
iz startin’ to sound like Fall Out Boy tha more I hear this; yawn… My Rating: 3.0
14.
Cedric Gervais “Molly (Club Radio Edit)”
ROFL…;
luv how tha weirdness continues, but at least this iz a hot song and beat,
overall! At first, I thought tha song was about “Molly” Bancroft; I have some
odd expectations, but it’s funny that tha vocals are a computer voice. Gotta
luv tha versatility in tha beats, including tha sound effects, too! My Current Rating: 4.4
15.
Afrojack & Shermanology “Can’t Stop Me (Tiësto Radio Edit)”
Tha
danger of all dangers… Even though I still like this song, I never admitted to
you in tha 3/12 review that this was that song that was playing on my iPod when
I ACTUALLY LOST MY EQUIPMENT! Yup, on random, too; I wound up gettin’ new,
identical equipment, but I still wish I could get tha tape I lost. I’m actually
making a documentary on tha last dayz of my equipment, where you’ll get to see
me revisiting all tha steps of how I lost everything; I’ll show it to you when
it’s done, hopefully in late July. It was quite fun, and spooky to record
myself mimicking tha incident on tape. Now, I’m curious to hear this remix.
>>> I love how on FMQB, since I lost my equipment, this song had
1,000+ spins every single week? Even KTU has this song, now; so weird. A curse
can sometimes be a giant jump, lol. Good “CSM” music beginning, but what’s this
random music after tha chorus? Sounds like someone else; it would’ve been cool
to have a VT-soundin’ version… Either way, can we have a new Shermanology song?
Thought they were stayin’ consistent, but all there still iz iz this &
“Blessed”… My Rating: 4.1
16.
Steve Aoki & Angger Dimas Feat. Iggy Azalea “Beat Down”
Not
sure what to expect. >>> Oh yea, I remember that this was 110 BPM. Oh,
there are two really good, 110 BPM songs on MCE that are way better than this!!
This sounds like a hip-hop song, like on a Lil’ Wayne tip. Tha female rapper ain’t too bad,
but there’s an Azalea Banks that’s
way better than this! Weird alarms goin’ on, here? What am I ‘pose to laugh?
Beat could be way better and less weird! Keep this in tha mixtape world, lol. My Rating: 2.7
17.
Adam Lambert “Never Close Our Eyes (Almighty Remix Radio)”
Tha
fastest song on here goes to… a gay guy. I know Almighty usually teams up wit
gay people/gay themes for remixes, but I think I’m gonna look forward to this;
watch this be tha guilty pleasure HM for me. >>> Sounds like a good
chorus; I guess choruses aren’t disappointing, these dayz? This sounds pretty
good for a HM; expected a lil’ better wit tha music, but for some reason, I
have a feelin’ that his fame’s a lil’ over. I can’t picture him having another
2010… Okay, tha music iz meeting my expectations, a lil’, as this progresses…;
not really a guilty pleasure for me, overall, luckily. My Rating: 4.3
18.
Ian Carey & Rosette Feat. Timbaland & Brasco “Amnesia”
Another
REALLY HOT song fa this Summer!!! This goes to show you that Party 105 iz
back!! One of tha first *new* songs I sampled/heard from them since they
returned to themselves!! Has tha perfect combination of everything: DJ, hot
vocalist, Timbaland randomly appearing in tha song, and an unknown rapper
that’s not gangsta, but fits tha track! Just luv every bit of this!! Love that
“unfaithful dog” line, lol. I also use tha title to backfire any idiots in my
past; I can be like, “I have ‘amnesia;’ can’t remember…” My Current Rating: 4.9
19.
David Morales & Róisín Murphy “Golden Era (David Morales Radio Mix)”
Another reason why I wanted to get this review done sooner or later was ‘cause MCD was startin’ to get a bunch of these songs, and I wanted to review ‘em on PO, first. Well, looks like a good collaboration so lemme see what kinda feedback I can leave. >>> I can’t really say it’s a discoish beat, but it’s a lil’ bit of both disco & dance; I would say that ‘cause DM’s been around for a long time. I like how RM sounds on tha vocals; I think this’ll do just okay with me. LOL, an 18-second ending? My Rating: 3.9

20.
Chris Brown “Don’t Wake Me Up (Benny Benassi Short Intro Edit)”
“Beautiful
People” Part 2? I’m kinda not lookin’ forward; now, both CB & BB are on
here twice. >>> Really bad start for me. Fuck, tha tight music in tha
chorus, lol!! I still say, screw Chris Brown and his auto-tuned voice, at
times. Sounds more like RedOne on tha chorus than BB. I think I might IC this,
but it’s gonna be a bad, guilty pleasure for me. My Rating: 4.3
21.
Gossip “Perfect World (Seamus Haji Remix Radio)”
Interesting
way to end it. You got a big, fat lesbian lead vocalist that was from tha 4/11 PO (“I Wrote The Book” – Beth Ditto). This artist as a
group’s an alternative, electronica-like band, but this sounds pretty good for
a remixed version. At first, it seemed like a boring remix (expected better
from SH), but tha music progresses, and sound tha best toward tha end. Kinda
random vocals during tha verse, but a nice chorus to fit this song pretty
nicely! My Current Rating: 4.4
Overall: A coupla doozies and a
bunch of HMs, here and there, but there’s that quality music that I thought was
really good. Even though I knew quite a bit (thanx to sources comin’ back
together), tha Antoine Clamaran triple collaboration was tha best new song from
this CD.
