I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. 01.
Borgeous Feat. Julia Michaels “Invincible”
A
Spinnin’ release here… Didn’t pay too much attention, as I thought it was an
IDS song, at first. Lemme rehear… >>> Nice intro and nice vocals, so
far… Tha 1st verse ain’t too bad, here, but I’m diggin’ tha chorus
and drop!! Tha 2nd verse sounds better, too. Did they get tha
“wrecking ball” reference from Miley Cyrus’ song from last year, lol? My Rating: 4.5
02.
Pitbull Feat. Ke$ha “Timber (R3hab Remix Radio Edit)”
Label:
Mr. 305 / Polo Grounds / RCA Records. Pit again wit tha #2 spot on tha February
PO? Though I like Ke$ha, my interest ain’t too big about this song. Not ta
mention, a “Wake Me Up” original version wit a country-dance-rap beat, lol?
Either way, though I’ll prolly ignore this too that it’s on here, I think this
an okay remix from R3hab. My Current
Rating: 3.4
03.
Katy Perry “Dark Horse (Goldhouse Radio Mix)”
Capitol
Records, of course. Preparin’ for a song that’s startin’ to become a guilty
pleasure for me; I think I hate it, but prolly gon add it to my playlist! Goes
good with tha news station threatening me and bein’ blocked by DJ B-Real who I
was crazy about last year, smh! Also, I like how PO ID’d it: “No Juicy J…,”
instead of “No Rap;” I like “No [Name]” better! Anyway, time ta review this
remix. MCD has it in a club mix; surprised they play a lot of club mixes now,
like they used to! >>> I like tha music. I love how I read on
Wikipedia and someone called this a “Southern-rap-techno song;” yea, like this
song’s a mix of everything I like, lol! It sounds more like a trap beat. Not to
mention, #1 on Billboard, right now,
and “Unconditionally” only made it to #14? Weird; weird song, overall, but I
shall be infected by it throughout 2014! My
Current Rating: 3.9
04.
Style Of Eye Feat. Soso “Kids”
Hmm,
some content warning on this new SOE song and it bein’ a “clean edit,” lol…
This time, it’s not Spinnin’, but it’s Ultra; let’s see what we got here…
>>> Sounds like Taryn Manning on tha vocals, here; so far, a lil’
interesting… Chorus a lil’ funny and random, but some of tha music sounds nice,
here. Tha 2nd verse sounds catchy, especially that Jamaican, “pop
anotha pill” part, lol! My Rating: 4.0
05.
Lea Michele “Cannonball (Dave Audé Radio Edit)”
Columbia Records. Because of how
GREAT Meital’s “Give Us Back Love”’s been, as well as it made me do backflips
around my room durin’ tha end of 2013, I now refer Dave Audé to “Tha
Backflippin’ Remixer,” lol! As for this artist, I almost thought she was an
iCarly girl, but she’s from Glee,
which I consider tha worst musicial
thing ever! Not to mention, I’m surprised she’s two years older than me—born in
’86? Really? Seems like she’d be 10 years younger or somethin’! But, lemme
rehear, since MCD randomly plays this… >>> Sounds a lil’ like a LeAnn
Rimes. Music sounds nice, but not too movin’ like Meital’s remix. Chorus’ kinda
random; doesn’t compare to tha “Cannonball” we know, lol! I almost thought this
was tha vocal version of “Cannonball” ‘til I saw MCD get this first. My Current Rating: 3.6
06.
Melissa Etheridge “Uprising Of Love (Bent Collective Radio Edit)”
Primary
Wave on tha label, here; a random comeback? She was from tha ‘90s wit tha
Alanis Morissettes and them… I only knew who she was just a few years ago, and
now, let’s see if I can get into this… >>> So far, it sounds good;
can’t complain, here… Tha chorus iz pretty catchy, here; let’s see how tha drop
turns out to be… Ehh, kinda plain; I guess that’s why they call it just a HM,
lol? My interest ain’t too high since tha 1st chorus, but it ain’t
too bad, overall… My Rating: 3.7
07.
Martin Garrix & Jay Hardway “Wizard”
Mainstream
labels Casablanca & Republic Records, here… Seems like one of tha giants of
2014, so far! It had a great 1st
spin in my car, as I went to go get scratch-off lottery tickets, and I found a
$40 & $5 winner!! However, it’s been in tha mist of a bunch of shit,
throughout January: Tha news threatenin’ me, my brother constantly annoyin’ me,
my dad losing two stores he owned w/$500,000 in debt, bein’ blocked by that
dude I was crazy about from last year, and my grandma not lettin’ me go to
Florida with our whole family while this song’s out ‘cause there’s not enough
room for me to stay. :? But, tha lottery find and goin’ to tha abandoned Kings Park
Psychiatric Center
iz what makes this have a great start of memories for me, and’ll hopefully
continue to do good with me! An added three seconds to tha intro, it sounded
like? For tha review, I luv tha hot
beats; even sounds like a “wizard”’s spells, based off tha drop!! Now, that’s a spell, not that “Dark Horse”
that Katy Perry considers a “spell” and “witchy,” lol! My Current Rating: 4.9
08.
R3hab & Nervo & Ummet Ozcan “Revolution”
Spinnin’,
here… Now, this CD has both this and tha Sander Van Doorn song. MCD always
plays SVD & this back to back, and they almost sound tha same. I bet this
iz what I’ve been hearin’, and not SVD. I also sometimes confuse this with Mr.
Mig, Mike Rizzo & Vic Latino’s latest song, “Evolution”, which I think
that’s good… Anyway, here goes my listen… >>> Okay, I think this iz
what I’ve been hearin’, but MCD’s been floodin’ their channel with club mixes,
so I barely get to hear vocals. Sounds pretty good, so far, of course. Tha
chorus iz pretty nice, but I like tha M/M/V one better. Tha drop ain’t bad, but
sounds a lil’ plain… My Rating: 4.0
09.
Promise Land Feat. Alicia Madison “Sun Shine
Down (Laidback Luke Edit)”
LOL,
thought that was you on tha label, but it’s Mixmash. She actually found me on
Twitter when I added a song of hers last year. Outta nowhere, my playlist
posted overnight. Before I could even tweet it to people, I woke up, and AM
tweeted me! So I’ve been showin’ her luv ever since! And, not to mention, she’s
been on lots of tracks! She from NYC, kinda like a dance music exclusive artist
of today! MCD shows her luv wit her songs, as well as this; lemme give it a
rehear! >>> Waited ‘til I got this CD to get this, and wow, greatness!!! Didn’t realize how good
this was wit tha beats and it bein’ a different mix! Of course, pure vocals and
great chorus!! Drop ain’t too bad, but it gets you excited!! Great 2nd
verse, too! ROFL @ tha cold ending! My
Current Rating: 4.8
10.
Sander Van Doorn “Right Here, Right Now (Neon)”
Okay,
here’s tha SVD song, almost back to back, lol. And, Spinnin’ on tha label. MCD
even confuses me when they put “Neon” in “()”. “Neon” was a hot IDS song from
last summer. However, somethin’ tells me this could be a “Neon” vocal song,
since it says 127 BPM & “Revolution” was 128! “Neon” was 127… Anyway, now after
tha “Revolution” confusion, lemme see what this really sounds like! >>> Oh, wow, MCD wit tha fuck-up!!
They really play “Revolution” tha
whole time it was ID’d as this! Okay, so this iz a vocal version of “Neon”;
pretty catchy for a male vocal song!! Just like with “Cannonball”, it was a
nice IDS song turned into a nice male vocal song!! Whoo @ tha chorus!!! MCD needs to fix tha “Revolution” fuck-up!
Fix tha audio ta this, MCD!! Not no seven-minute “Revolution”! I might even
like this better than tha original “Neon”; what a surprise!! My Rating: 4.8
(Take that, “Revolution”, for gettin’ in tha way, as well as on this PO—nowhere near #7, 9 & this, lol!!)
½time: Well, so far, we had a dry
start wit a bunch of HMs, but really
picked up toward tha 2nd quarter!! Let’s hope it stays this way—4.2 CD
rating, currently!!
11.
Hadouken! “Levitate (Starkillers Radio Edit)”
An
Ultra song that looks like a high AL,
here! Let’s get it in!! >>> Pretty kick-ass for tha start! Wow, lots
of consistency with this CD, so far!! Whoo @ tha drop!! “Revolution” only
wishes!! LOL, I luv that I’m pickin’
on “Revolution” on this CD, as it’s to you talkin’ about Avicii & his “Hey
Brother”ness, lol! Wow @ just a chorus/drop ‘til 1:47, where there’s a verse,
finally. This sounds catchy; can’t complain, especially with tha good lyrics!! My Rating: 4.6
12.
Claire “Games (Soul Cartel Radio Edit)”
Astralwerks
on tha label; ooh, this song! Hittin’ tha alternative & MCE world, and I’m
diggin’ this one! Surprised it made it onto here; sounds a lot like another
alternative group with a male & female: The xx! Anyway, hope this iz a good
remix! >>> Not bad for a remix; kinda okay ‘til tha drop, which sounds
catchy. Didn’t think this alternative/electronic song could be dance remixed
good like this. LOL, didn’t write much for tha review, but it plays through my
head and shit, so it’s quietly-inescapable, lol! My Rating: 4.1
13.
Syn Cole Feat. Madame Buttons “Miami
‘82”
Avicii’s
Le7els on tha label, as well as tha PRMD label. Kinda got thrown off by tha
title, as I thought it was a remake, or tha new Vic Latino song that remade
Gloria Estefan’s “Conga”, which iz gross! However, Ms. MB on
tha vocals should be nice! Diggin’ her vocals on Felix Cartal & Clockwork’s
“The Fire”, which iz blowin’ up on dance outlets now! >>> Great start
wit tha vocals and lyrics!! Pretty consistent from tha chorus and non-stop
music; electrified, lol! My Rating: 4.3
14.
AN21, Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman “Rebel”
Size—different
label—on tha label, here. And, a new breed of a Dimitri V? Lookin’ at this, it
looks like it gon be an IDS song, so high AL!! >>> PO
says 18-second intro, and 22 seconds it took for tha drop to start, so I guess
it’s IDS!! Really diggin’ tha beginning, too!! Sounds like somethin’ random
that came outta nowhere! I remember last February, “Recently Lost” came outta
nowhere; now, this! Even picked up at 2:08; pretty intense!!! Sounds like tha
world’s changing—which it iz—and, we can’t control it, lol!! My Rating: 4.7
15.
DJ Cassidy Feat. Robin Thicke & Jessie J “Calling All Hearts”
Columbia Records; GAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGSSSSSSSS!!! WTF, PO? Thanx, MCE for tha heads up! I don’t even think PO cared to put this on here; they didn’t even list tha
features! Features are Robin Thicke & Jessie J—wow, thought it was Demi
Lovato when I heard a sample! Though it’s real disco-y, it sounds great for a pop song! My Current Rating: 3.0
16.
Avicii Feat. Dan Tyminski “Hey Brother (Syn Cole Radio Edit)”
Fuck, where’s tha Riddler
remix song?! Keep gettin’ confused and these vomit things are comin’ outta
nowhere! Anyway, got stuck hearin’ tha original a few times, and even was
caught singin’ it to my dad’s girlfriend’s dog. However, I always refer it to
cheesy situations! You would think this deserves to be my #1 song with all tha
bad shit goin’ on, but I constantly avoid it! I can only imagine a remix, right
now… >>> That gross vocal intro and tha vocals! Funny that they cut
tha “blood iz thicker!!!” part off tha 1st verse, lol!! This remix
sounds like Madeon or someone; bleh, rather drown in misery to tha original!
Hearin’ tha 2nd verse…; no “thicker” again, lol! Just heard in tha
car yesterday that Z100 got this; “hey pop world,” smh! Let’s pretend I ain’t
review this, and just tie it with tha original! My Rating: 1.0
17.
Yones “On The Rise (Riddler Radio Edit)”
About
time!! S.P.I.C. label (NHI, but looks offensive, lol!), and P105 got this! I
couldn’t find it when I first searched. Then, I did another google search, and
saw even Riddler’s RE posted on December 5, 2013; how’d I not see it? But, I
waited weeks for tha review, so huge,
Gali-like AL
for me!! Somethin’ tells me it gon be big, especially since it’s after two shit
songs on here—2x tha power!! >>> Ahh @ it bein’ a male, but I’m still
open… Tha chorus iz a lil’ ehh, but tha drop’s pretty dope!! Tha 1st
verse’s okay; not bad, but ironic that he says he’s “on [his] grind.” That’s
what I said about Riddler on tha September ’13 review, with tha Paramore remix,
lol! Tha 2nd verse (or bridge) sounded a lil’ weird. Because of all
tha really great songs on here, I had a feelin’ this was gonna lose to a bunch
of ‘em… My Rating: 4.2
18.
Mayra Verónica “Ay Mama Mia (Sick Individuals Radio Edit)”
Now,
Ultra? This song doesn’t seem to go away, huh, lol? Even think this mix iz as
old as when it was on tha 2/13 PO, one year
ago’s edition. Plus, a full vocal version has come out since, without tha “Ay”.
>>> Good music, but it’s 2014 now, not tha beginning of 2013 and
risking $1,524 to buy back DJ B-Real’s stolen equipment! Luv all tha tight
music, but really, how many times would this have to re-enter my playlist, so
much time apart? My Rating: 4.4 (lol, almost pretendin’ this izn’t here)
EDIT: PO
says it’s tha Razor N Guido Radio Edit, but really, it’s tha Sick Individuals
Radio Edit.
19.
Savannah Lynx “Colors (Tracy Young Radio Edit)”
Keepin’
tha re-entries comin’… This one’s from tha 12/13 CD, and it hasn’t been
sparkin’ too many spins on my playlist, lately. I think we need some good
moments for this to get up there! But, there’s a remix here; let’s see what it
sounds like! >>> Music from tha original version in tha start, here…
That beat iz still on tha chorus; sounds stronger, here, too! Drop ain’t too
bad, but it was a better continuation of tha chorus’ beat on tha original
version! A drier 2nd chorus, here, with tha music… Original version
got a 4.8 from me; this might have to take a few 10ths since tha
drops were a lil’ ehh… My Rating: 4.6
20.
Danny Howard & Futuristic Polar Bears “Thundergod”
A
weird-lookin’ ID, but Rod Carrillo’s Carrillo Music on tha signin’, here… I
dunno what to expect; prolly gon be weird as fuck! >>> …And, that
“weird as fuck” preview turned into an IDS song, lol! First time Carrillo
signed an IDS song, so he’s gettin’ on track with today, I guess? Pretty hot!!
Pretty serious and I like how it said tha title at 2:07! “Thundergod!”
Elements; gotta luv it!! I hope this gets out there; it’s real chancy if
Carrillo-signed songs get out there! They’ve neva made it further than bein’
played late at night on MCD…! Either way, outstanding
FL!!! My Rating: 4.8
21. Bastille “Pompeii (Audien Radio Edit)”
“Heyyyyyy
brother!!” Look at this ending; whoo!!! …Really? >>> Good beat like
tha last PO, but once again, random; does it
need to be “Leaving You”’d? My Rating: 2.7
Overall: I have to say, this was
an excellent CD!! Too bad tha
uncalled-for re-entries like “Hey Brother” & “Pompeii”, as well as tha
Pitbull & “Calling All Hearts” had to get in tha way! If those were
excluded and we had a 17-track PO like last
year, we could’ve had a record average CD rating of 4.4! But, whateva; they
make “Dark Horse” look excellent, lol! So much great dance music ta devour and
enjoy on my playlist; I just hope tha moments only get better from here!!
