Here
comes anotha PO review: Promo Only: Dance Radio December
2014! And, also, anotha edition where I’ve been awake for a while! Been
awake since 3:11 AM and it’s 3:42 PM, while I’m writin’ this… I worked 4 AM – 2
PM (extra ‘cause people called off ‘cause of snow, lol), and I’m still awake!
Lookin’ forward to this edition! If I remember correctly, surprisingly, there’s
only, like, 3 of 22 songs that have remixes/mixes! Tha rest are all original
versions and most are songs/artists I don’t really know! Should be fun to end
this excitin’ year off!! Start Time:
3:48 PM | End Time: 6:02 PM
Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01.
Gorgon City Feat. Jennifer Hudson “Go All
Night”
So,
starting with a deep house song, huh? Tryna force me to go to sleep after 12 ½
hours of bein’ awake, PO, lol? Signed with
both Priority & Capitol Records, I got a sample from Music Choice Dance,
and it’s whateva… Like, it reminds me of one of those sellout-kinda features
(e.g., Deep Dish Feat. Stevie Nicks “Dreams”) that they wanna try and blow up!
Can’t believe it’s been a whole decade since JH appeared on American Idol, too, lol… >>> If
it’s DH, it’s a lil’ disco-y, too… Decent vocals, but yeah, strictly for tha
DHaholics, lol… I like tha dry beat, though… My Current Rating: 3.2
02.
Calvin Harris Feat. Ellie Goulding “Outside”
Columbia Records… I dunno…—I dunno
if I’m wantin’ an “I Need Your Love”, Part 2… >>> A really-good full
review start, here… I must’ve thought it was too early for this, since
“Blame”’s kinda hot, right now… But, since I lacked interest in that song, due
to shitty times, I guess it’s time for this to strike… Okay, maybe, a lil’
risky with tha violin, but I think it sounds pretty anticipating! Crazy to say
that I like this much better than “INYL”? Diggin’ this track, overall, with tha
vocals, lyrics, and beat combination! My
Rating: 4.4 (really-high rating for CH!)
03.
Galantis “Runaway (U & I)”
Uh oh… Anotha one foolin’ my official, first-listen review? Signed with Big Beat Records, ½ of this duo’s one of tha dudes from Style of Eye, though I think it has scary, high-pitched vocals… >>> A nice start, here, not what I expected… Here come those vocals (tha chorus); can be okay, but at tha same time, sounds like a kids’ choir? LOL, get it? “Kids”! Ironic! Of course, a nicely-done drop to distract me from givin’ this a negative review… Wonder who’s really doin’ tha vocals on tha verses? And, anotha surprise rating from me! Guess I’m in a good mood today? My Rating: 4.3

04.
Axwell / Ingrosso “Can’t Hold Us Down”
LOL,
usin’ tha slash like Music Choice, PO? A Def
Jam-released single, here; just caught it on MCD while tha last song was on,
lol! Here goes tha actual review… >>> Kinda has a “Greyhound” feel to
it in tha beats; not bad, so far… Kinda on tha boring side, here… I mean,
“Greyhound” had a bunch more elements in it, where this mainly iz just tha same
beat… Tha lil’ breakdown at 1:42’s just decent, for me. Some random vocals, but
nothin’ much to strike me… LOL, random: It sped up at 2:21; tryna be all hardstyle
on me, 2/3’s Swedish House Mafia, lol? Overall, pretty random, surprisingly,
not touchin’ tha previous two songs I reviewed! My Rating: 3.6
05.
Tiësto Feat. DBX “Light Years Away”
Casablanca
& Republic Records, here… After all tha “Wasted” times, let’s see how
dance-y Mr. Esto does it, here… >>> Not too catchy for a start with
tha vocals, here; reminds me of Wrabel & “Ten Feet Tall”… Vocals do sound good
for a dance track… Still, dance outlets could’ve pushed tha Icona Pop
collaboration harder; I thought that would’ve been huge, since it was in a
commercial… As far as tha drop here, it sounds pretty good; nothin’ else ta
say… My Rating: 3.7
06.
Shiba San “Okay”
“Okay,”
with 123 BPM, I’m ready for some possible DH music… Ultra Music, here…
>>> Soundin’ like some scary moanin’ in tha beginning… Just said a
title part and went into a drop… “Okay,” I guess this a DH instrumental dance
song? I guess, for this edition, we got our dose of a nice-and-random song,
here… My Rating: 4.0
07.
Martin Garrix & MOTi “Virus (How About Now)”
MCD
just got this and it’s good to know that MG’s on his grind, consistently, with
puttin’ out these quality tunes! Unlike tha previously-released tracks on Casablanca / Republic,
this iz on Spinnin’, tha true start of MG, here, lol! As far as this track
goes, really diggin’ tha beginning beats, as well as tha beats! Somethin’
special about them and how they sound, here… LOL @ this bein’ called a “Virus”;
could’ve been a different title? Drop sounds good, just like tha 1st
verse/part sounded… Interesting thing about this iz that it’s an instrumental
dance song, but then, tha vocals come in at 1:37. Sounds like a mixshow cut
with tha vocals; pretty nice combination! It’s like a vocal version of a song
and its original version in one song, lol! Slammin’ way she delivers tha title,
too! My Current Rating: 4.6
08.
Manufactured Superstars “Magnetic”
A
new song from them, released on Magik Muzik… >>> Some uncredited
vocals, here; a decent start with tha male vocals, but that’s about it… Nice
lyrics on tha chorus about how “magnetic” this track’s “pullin’ [him] in.” And,
nice chorus with tha music, or should I say, “Drop…” My Rating: 3.9
09.
Hozier “Take Me To Church (DJ Mike D Radio Edit)”
Columbia Records… Not lookin’ forward to this pop song, remixed, thanx to it bein’ on Mainstream Radio PO… >>> “Amen?” Sounds like it’s disobeyin’ tha holy world? Not feelin’ these vocals and this plain beat from this Beastie Boy… Surprisingly, I’m likin’ tha chorus, as it has an Elton John-kinda feel, with tha vocals… LOL, don’t ask me why I’m diggin’ that chorus… There’s always a reason why each song appears on each PO edition? Can’t completely criticize ‘em all… Even though I’m satisfied by tha chorus, I still gotta compile all my thoughts… My Rating: 3.5

10.
tyDi Feat. Melanie Fontana & Novaspace “Redefined”
A
new song by both tD & MF! And, Novaspace bein’ added to tha feature, too?
Should be a pretty hot collab, with Robbins behind this one! >>> LOL, PO says it’s only a :07 intro, but really, it’s :21…
Anyway, really hot vocals on tha start, here! Really diggin’ tha Calvin Harris
& Ne-Yo “Let’s Go” beginning music kickin’ in throughout tha 1st
verse, as well! Or, should I say, tha chorus? That was a nice chorus! Well, I
think this tha chorus; almost thought it was tha drop, but it sounds real hot!
Really diggin’ tha 2nd verse, as well! Real hot delivery with tha
lyrics over this kick-ass beat!! My
Rating: 4.8
11.
AronChupa “I’m An Albatraoz”
ROFL!
Party 105’s blowin’ this random song up and it sometimes get stuck in my head…
LOL, really, Ultra signed this? Thought a pop label would’ve got this one, but
you know how Ultra does, sometimes, lol! If I had to describe this song, I’d
describe it as a “song diagnosed with a disease!” LOL, like my autism may lack
socializing, but this song’s like a mentally-disabled attempt at makin’ dance
music with, well, a so-called “drop!” Random lyrics about a “mouse” and a
“Lori,” lol. And, of course, tha “drop!” Now, tha 2nd verse, about a
“witch,” lol! My Current Rating: 4.2 (nice rating only ‘cause it’s catchy &
I’ve known it…)
½time: Whoo…, so far, an
interesting PO with only one remix, lol!
That’s rare…! I’m diggin’ most of tha tracks, here, while a bunch are okay.
Either way, PO’s got a 4.0 for my CD rating, so far! Let’s
see if they can keep it up!
12.
Robin Schulz Feat. Jasmine Thompson “Sun Goes Down (Original Radio Edit)”
Looks
familiar? Oh yeah, I believe Party 105 got and I remember one of tha YouTube
comments sayin’ how young tha vocalist iz… Lookin’ at their age on Wikipedia,
and they’re only 14! They’re born November 8, 2000! Wow, feels crazy to be 12
years older than a vocalist and they’re as old as how many years I’ve been
doin’ my year-end countdowns! Crazy! And, collaboratin’ with our slow remixer, which
I’m really diggin’ that “Robin” name, as of recent ‘cause of tha girl I work
with! Big Beat Records, here, and lol @ PO
with tha “clean” version for a 14-year-old! An okay first listen, but lemme do
tha full review, here… >>> Anticipatin’ beat start, here… Nice vocals
for a 14-year-old and tha beat’s nice from Mr. Robin! An okay, dry drop, here…
Tha chorus’ pretty nice, too, makin’ me miss a lil’ bit of summer… My Rating: 4.1
13.
Kiesza “Giant In My Heart”
This
vs. “No Enemiesz”, I think I like “No Enemiesz” better… MCD got this, but it’s
not as catchy as “Hideaway”. Of course, just like her previous release, off tha
Lokal Legend label, as well as 4th & B’way… Here goes my actual
review… >>> Sounds like death/somethin’ scary with that organ in tha
beginning… Not sure what to say with this beginning… Music’s only okay on tha
drop; really dry, here… And, PO luvs tha
repeatin’ positions of tha same artists: Kiesza was a part of #13 on tha last
CD and now, she’s #13 here… Martin Garrix was #7 on tha 2/14 PO
and now, #7 here… Damn, tyDi was #10 on tha 7/13 PO
and now, #10 here! Ahh, lol, too good of a memory I have!!! My Current Rating: 2.7
14.
Vicetone “United We Dance”
Looks
like it gon be good… And, PO came clean about
a long intro, here, with 39 seconds! Lookin’ forward to this Ultra release!
>>> Anticipatin’ intro, here, with just a beat… I have a feelin’ that
once tha :39 intro’s up, a huge beat
gon slam!! And, I was right!! I dunno why, but it reminds me a lil’ bit of
“Payback” with tha vibe; what a surprise, here!! Such an interesting new song,
here, and it didn’t have to show much in its title/artist name!! Really diggin’
tha quieter sounds at 2:16, too! Could be my top-rated song from this CD!!
Thanx, PO, for anotha surprise!! My Rating: 4.9
15.
Oliver Heldens Feat. KStewart “Last All Night (Koala)”
Nice
title, but when I see, “Oliver,” in any ID, I instantly think it gon be DH…
FFRR on tha label, too… >>> Nice start wit tha vocals, but tha beat
sounds similar to tha OH mix wit Dr. Kucho! from tha last CD (oh, and, #15,
too, lol)! Really nice chorus, here? Impressive from my expectations! Tha
drop’s a lil’ plain, but at least that chorus’ good! My Rating: 4.2
16.
Bastille “Flaws (Shift K3Y Radio Edit)”
Lookin’
forward to tha mix, but I dunno about Bastille… Label: Virgin & Capitol
Records… >>> Nice start with tha music and decent vocals, so far… Nice
SK drop at :48… Wow, that drop was 1:02 long! Guess that made this more
interesting? Less vocals + more SK = less typical of a remix? My Rating: 3.8
17.
Steve Aoki Feat. will.i.am “Born To Get Wild”
I
can’t anticipate will.i.am and his Black Eyed Peaness… As always, Ultra, here…
>>> As much as his rappin’s ehh, for me, this singin’s worse… Beats
are not bad, but, how about a lil’ more energy in tha voice? Nice drop, at
least… Oh, rappin’ at 1:08; who knew? Kinda random, but it goes with tha song,
kinda like “Rage The Night Away”… And, at 2:24, more rappin’; once again, goes
with tha previous verse and it’s on a braggin’ tip, as far as what he be sayin’…
Either way, a pretty-good full listen from me… My Rating: 4.2
18.
Aneesh Gara & Lisa Williams “Flashback Rewind”
Likin’
that it’s signed to Carrillo Music, but a slower tempo, here (122 BPM), so am I
expectin’ some DH? Likin’ tha non-U.S. main artist’s name, so there’s some
anticipation, here! >>> Sounds like a regular dance song, but at a DH
tempo; feelin’ tha vocal start… Beat’s pretty nice, but it’s a lil’ dry, at
times… I like tha positive vibe, and tha beat sounds hotter at 1:37… Seemed to
turn out to be a nice track, overall; I’m diggin’ it. My Rating: 4.1
19.
Tavo Feat. Sophia May “Amazing”
Ooh,
hope it’s “amazing,” just like tha title says!! Tazmania Records on tha label!!
>>> Anticipatin’ beginning, of course! Sounds like a song that’s just gonna
have a chorus and beat parts? Diggin’ how SM brings it on tha chorus with this
beat; sounds good… Up, I was wrong, lol! At 1:04, it’s a verse; sounds good to
have! And, another verse; glad to have you around, Phia! My Rating: 4.3
20.
Henrik B “In Your Eyes”
Ooh,
this a good one! Party 105 & MCD both got this, and they’re luvin’ it! PRMD
on tha label, here, Avicii-affiliated! Lemme give this a full listen for tha
review, here… >>> Computerized, unique vocals, here that sound great
with this beat! Just luv tha climax and how exciting it sounds!! LOL! And, tha
drop’s top-notch!! My Current Rating: 4.7
21.
Waze & Odyssey vs. R. Kelly “Bump & Grind 2014”
Could’ve
been tha ending song, but I think PO was smart
enough to not make it this shitty!
Like, really? Did we need to 2014 an R. Kelly song from tha ‘90s? RCA &
Ultra both signed this song; weird label combination as well! >>>
Kickin’ it off wit tha original version’s start, as slow as possible… Beats
sound nice, here, like it was tha ‘90s. However, no need to rip off “Push The
Feeling On”’s beat! Nice attempt at tha ‘90s, at least, but, like Mr. R. Kelly
a.k.a. Kelz says, “My mind’s tellin’ me, ‘No!’” Should be somethin’ excellent to sleep to, at least! I’ll
give it some props for tha ‘90s vibe, as R&B meets DH, lol! My Rating: 3.0
22.
Parra For Cuva Feat. Anna Naklab “Wicked Games”
And,
endin’ tha incredible 2K14 off with an interestin’ artist/title! But, lol @ tha
label: Signed to Spinnin’ Deep! Well, I bet I can guess why there’s “Deep” in
tha label name! Hmm… Okay, after a google search, I see that they’re goin’ with
a “deep” approach, as far as tha track. Prolly not a complete spin off of DH
music, but it’s a sublabel of tha famous Spinnin’ Records, lol! >>> A
calm start and PO, :23 intro, not :15, lol!
Um, I don’t think I’m feelin’ it that much… Oh, hearin’ tha chorus and it just
so happens to be a remake; I should’ve known by this title. Tha original
version was by Chris Isaak from tha ‘90s, just like tha R. Kelly song… Well,
this iz better than that version, but it’s kinda too deep for my dance music
interests… My Rating: 3.1
Overall: And, I’ve reached tha
end. I was mainly impressed by this issue, as there was quality dance music.
LOL @ Kiesza bein’ my lowest-rated; who knew? Well, since I’ve been awake for
15 hours now, I think I oughta go to sleep. Gotta work tomorrow and it’s
Thanksgiving. I’m workin’ nine hours and wanted tha hours ‘cause technically,
they were gonna let me out two hours earlier. However, under hard-working
Frankie standards, gettin’ out two hours earlier’s less money on my paycheck,
and I gotta keep that consistency up/growing! I’m even closing tha store
tomorrow, so I’m both opening AND closing, for tha first time!! And, Black
Friday, we open an hour earlier, so I’ll be in at 3 AM, on Friday! Anyway, it
has been an amazing year for moments, as well as dance/house music! Let’s keep
it rollin’ fa 2015! Let’s finally have a normal, odd-number year!!
