My
1st review of 2015: Promo Only: Dance Radio January 2015!
Almost thought I was gonna review it b4 2014 ended, but work got in my way, as
well as my 2014 year-end countdown & a random NY visit… Now, I’m back, and
ready to get to this! Even tha February PO’s tracklist just went online (I
didn’t look at it; wanna be surprised), so I betta catch up before it’s too
late! Start Time: 7:37 PM | End Time: 8:56 PM
Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01.
Axwell /\ Ingrosso “Something New”
Label:
Def Jam… Better than that “Can’t Hold Us Down” song from tha last PO… Saw it in tha headphones commercial or somethin’, and
thought it was gonna sell out or somethin’. Either way, nice vocals &
lyrics ta kick tha year off and definitely diggin’ tha music! My Current Rating: 4.4
02.
Borgeous & Shaun Frank feat. Delaney Jane “This Could Be Love”
Label:
Spinnin’… Saw on Music Choice Dance and it didn’t catch on at all… Vocals are
okay, though they sound a lil’ young, compared to Julia Michaels beltin’ out
those previous Borgeous songs. And, why tha weak-ass drop? So dry! Nothin’
compared to those other ones! I might just pass on this one, or it’ll just be a
playlist add for tha moment, since I only had 27 songs to start 2015 off, and
need adds… My Current Rating: 3.2
03.
Dimitri Vegas, Moguai & Like Mike feat. Julian Perretta “Body Talk
(Mammoth)”
Label:
Casablanca…
What, no Spinnin’ this time, lol? Anyway, I know frequently, a song from tha
previous odd-number year resurrects on tha next odd-number year (e.g., “Summerfish
2009” after it came out in ‘07). But, I feel like this gon be tha best one
outta those resurrections! >>> Nice vocals and I luv how it instantly
starts! Still luvin’ tha drop, though it seems so outdated for me… LMAO, no
gettin’ high! LMAO, my 1994 car! LMAO, NO
JOB & $200 only to my name! Glad I’m way passed all those dumb-ass
kiddie moments! My Rating: 4.5
Flashback Moment: Kinda reminds me of “Lose
Control” (David Puntez & Andrea Rosario) from tha 1/12 PO.
That was #3 on tha PO, a vocalized instrumental
dance track & I gave it a 4.5, as well! Luv those history-repeating
moments!
04.
Kygo feat. Conrad “Firestone”
Label:
Ultra… After “Cut Your Teeth” from Kyla started gettin’ out there more, this
producer’s gettin’ out there more… Either way, I dunno if I’ll anticipate tha
slow pace, once again… >>> Kinda okay, but really dry on tha 1st
verse… Chorus ain’t too bad and I’m diggin’ tha music on tha drop… Even though
slow, at least it has better moments than tha “Cut Your Teeth,”
losing-my-friendship times of September/October ’14! Hearin’ tha 2nd
verse and I feel like it’s draggin’… I really like that music before tha drop;
that’s mainly it. My Rating: 2.7
05.
Avicii feat. RAS “The Nights”
Label:
PRMD / Island / Republic… Okay, I would throw
up, but luckily, I was high when I gave it my first official listen on Party 105,
just last week. And, when high, my consideration to add tracks / like tracks
more usually goes up… Even though cheesy lyrics with tha “father,” I do like
it…, kinda. Tha drop’s okay, but I like tha climax better… Either way, I dunno
if this’ll ever get car spins or spins around people with me… I might just keep
it in my room, in tha closet, lol! Okay, lookin’ on Wikipedia, and it says tha
uncredited vocals are RAS, same guy from “Bring You To Life (Transcend),” lol… My Current Rating: 3.6
06.
Mary J. Blige “Right Now (Basement Jaxx Radio Edit)”
Label:
Capitol… Only 121 BPM? I dunno if I’ll need to hear… >>> Only okay for
me… I like that BJ are keepin’ their typical, underground-soundin’ sound,
though it’s just an okay remix for me. Weird enough, I have to say, nice way to
start 2015 off, lol! My Rating: 2.9
07.
Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP “Sugar Man”
Label:
Warner Bros.… Only 123 BPM? I dunno if I’ll need to hear, Pt. 2… >>>
Speakin’ of outdated, from before, just seein’ tha artist name makes me think
of not even driving anywhere, lol! Or, bein’ afraid to tell my mom where I’m
drivin’ 35 minutes away to tha casino, lol! Anyway, beats are okay but I’m
definitely not diggin’ this vocal sample! My
Rating: 2.2
08.
Julian Jordan “Angels X Demons”
Label:
Spinnin’… [Listened to tha beginning before I could give a preview…]
>>> Nice music start! Finally, a real dance song?! And, seein’ tha
Spinnin’ label on here makes me think this gon be great! Artist looks familiar;
must check my iTunes to see where they’re from! Nice lyrics and great music;
diggin’ tha drop, too! Well, just checked my iTunes, but no results; thought
they were familiar? Ever since tha ID in “Payback,” I’ve been diggin’ tha “X” as
a replacement of “and,” in tha IDs! Well, I only like it in EDM music, lol! My Rating: 4.4
09.
Ariana Grande & The Weeknd “Love Me Harder (Gregor Salto Amsterdam Mix Radio Edit)”
Label:
Republic… Nice lil’ house remix from GS with that unique, club-like drop! LOL,
a lil’ short, here; not really any parts from TW… MCD has a slightly-different
version with TW’s bridge with AG… Either way, this mix’s slightly better…
Surprised PO’s Dance Radio ain’t get her previous song with Zedd, “Break Free.” My Rating: 4.0
10.
Bobby Green feat. Sean Michael Murray “Changing Me (Frank Walker Radio Edit)”
Label:
Robbins… A new Robbins song, here? Lemme see… >>> Hmm, just an okay
start between tha music and tha vocals… Slowly gettin’ better with tha climax,
but I might have to get used to these vocals from these unknown people… Okay,
tha drop gave me some consideration, here… Tha verses and chorus prolly
could’ve been a lil’ shorter, but it’s still pretty-good, overall. My Rating: 4.1
11.
Teemid feat. Joie Tan “Crazy (Club Edit Radio Mix)”
Label:
Warner Bros.… Low anticipation level on tha 118 BPM… >>> LMAO, they really covered this song? Gnarls
Barkley… Not feelin’ tha slow music though tha female vocals can be nice…
Depending on my mood and life, this may
have a chance for a random add…; diggin’ that music toward tha end… My Rating: 3.0
½time: Kinda a weak PO, which I expected from a January issue… Very few dance
bangers while there’s a lotta slow shit on here… 3.5 for tha current CD rating.
12.
DVBBS & Dropgun feat. Sanjin “Pyramids”
Label:
Spinnin’… Heard it on MCD and I ain’t feelin’ tha vocals; don’t think tha
Jamaican vocals do tha instrumental dance/house/beat-drop songs well… Also, it
reminds me of Knife Party’s “LRAD” (8/13 PO)… Okay,
for this PO listen, tha music can get you in
tha mood… Whether I add it or not, I dunno if I’ll even play it that much, or
past tha winter. My Current Rating: 3.1
13.
BeyoncĂ© “7/11 (Tracy Young's Smack It In The Air Radio Edit)”
Label:
Columbia… I’m
not in tha mood… >>> Yeah, she don’t need to go hard with tryna rap or
have that style… Ewe, even auto-tune in her voice on tha verses? Not feelin’
this; reminds me of random PO remixes from ’06
or somethin’, lol… My Rating: 1.2
14.
SRTW “We Were Young (Sascha Kloeber Edit)”
Label:
Spinnin’… Some anticipation on tha name and remixer; hope it’s good for 120
BPM… >>> Ewe, no; no interest in tha vocals, repetitiveness & weak
music. Really, Spinnin’? Eat a weed cookie, lol!! My Rating: 1.4
15.
Aretha Franklin “Rolling In The Deep (Marc Stout & Tony Svejda Radio Mix)”
Label:
RCA… I just luv—with a sarcastic
cringe—that this 70-year-old singer covered Adele! Party 105 got this and I was
like, “Really?” Not only that, Marc Stout = Mixin’ Marc; he changed his name
after I did some researchin’, not too long ago. Anyway… >>> This mix
beats tha original version, but completely pointless, here! Even “shit”’s not
censored for tha 2nd time (like on tha Adele version); no content
warning again, PO? Fail x2! Ewe, “Ain’t No
Mountain High Enough” on tha bridge… My
Rating: 1.0 <- Wow, WORST set of
songs in a LONG time! Really? 1.2, 1.4, 1.0?
16.
Zeds Dead feat. Twin Shadow & D’Angelo Lacy “Lost You”
Label:
Ultra… Wow, ANOTHA fuck-up for me!
What’s with tha old-ass song from when I was hangin’ out with that faggot
friend from last summer? Music Choice Dance got a while ago… Also, PO error with “Zed’s Dead;” really, an apostrophe?
Anyway, a pretty-good song with a catchy chorus and music /
borderline-alternative with TS on tha ID… Not terrible like tha other songs,
but old to be on here, especially with that retard bein’ in my life, at tha
time! My Current Rating: 3.7
17.
Eddie Amador feat. Lisa Williams “Awake”
Label:
Carrillo… Hopefully, somethin’ good here from tha Carrillo label and EA bein’
on tha ID! >>> Feelin’ tha beginning music and vocals; I hope this gon
be good! Sounds like a nice, long intro with little vocals; interestin’…
Mainly, just consistent music at its finest, here, for tha undaground… Okay, at
1:45, a verse, I think… My Rating: 4.0
18.
Broiler feat. Ravvel “Wild Eyes”
Label:
Sky / Casablanca…
Not sure what to expect, but before I say anything, I have to say, I checked
out this PO’s tracklisting while goin’ down Mary’s Grave on Long Island, a
10-minute drive down a really spooky road with barely any lights,
million-dollar mansions and a narrow lane… I even saw an owl there, in tha
road! Thought that might’ve added some excitement to this PO,
despite it kinda suckin’… Anyway… >>> Vocals almost sound like Bright
Lights, a lil’ bit… This sounds like an okay, calm dance song… My Rating: 3.5
19.
Dennis Sheperd & Sylvia Tosun “We Are”
Label:
SeaToSun… HUGE anticipation level on this!! Luved tha “Runaway” track from Jes,
Cold Blue & DS from last year, so this should be nice, too! >>>
And, some huge, pure-soundin’ vocals
for tha beginning!! Really diggin’ tha chorus, too; just luv those vocals and
DS just gives me some nice anticipation to top it off! Tha drop’s good for a
vocal trance-soundin’ song, though I wish it was a lil’ faster like “Runaway,”
which was at a nice 134 BPM! I luv when I was checkin’ out tha tracklist on my
phone that I didn’t realize this was tha same DJ from “Runaway;” luv my
unexpected, quick glances! Tha rest of this sounds pretty nice, too! Prolly gon
be tha runner-up for top rating? We shall see! My Rating: 4.5
20.
Sheek Beats feat. Monarch Loren “Like A Storm”
Label:
Moxy… High anticipation level on tha artist names, title & unknown label,
though deep house for 123 BPM? >>> A nice start to reel me in with
this soft dance music and female vocals… I hear tha deep house climax like
“Hideaway,” here… Ehh, kinda a boring chorus with this calm music and
repetitive-soundin’ vocals… Kinda a rip-off of “Hideaway,” IMO… Tha 2nd
verse sounds like it could be on tha hit-mixed tip… My Rating: 2.8
21.
diMaro & Alicia Madison “Under The Stars (Dance To The Sun)”
Label:
Contagious… MUCH better!! Glad PO’s givin’ AM more exposure! MCD got this and it’s
pretty powerful!! Luv how AM caught it on MCD b4 I did; rare, lol? Really diggin’
tha powerful music and vocals, here; nice and undaground, though I think it’s
gettin’ more exposure than I expected! Only thing was when I kept hearin’ that
line in my head, “Till you cut my breaker line,” I kept thinkin’ negative, a
lil’, like, losin’ that friendship; tha intensity of her vocals, lol! Gotta luv
tha beats in tha 2nd verse, too, right? Thought I was gonna puke
with my #1 pick on this PO, but I think this
deserves it! Funny ‘cause it hasn’t really hit that many spins with me, yet…
Either way, congrats, unless tha last song can beat it! My Current Rating: 4.7
22.
Yellow Claw feat. Ayden “Till It Hurts”
Label:
Island / 4th & B’way… Goin’
with tha deep house, “Hideaway,” “My Love”-like label? Either way, nice
anticipation level for this! Luved tha “Shotgun” song from last year, as well
as tha rap/drug-tastic “Techno”! Lookin’ forward ta this! >>> Likin’
tha music start and, of course, don’t be fooled by tha 73 BPM; it doubles to
145ish on tha chorus! Yeah, though its 73 sound on tha drop… Either way, nice
vocals and excellent drop! Kinda sounds like “Shotgun,” and even tha same lil’
line on “Shotgun”’s drop: “Kill ‘em with tha fuckin’ clap,” or whateva it iz!
And, tha rappin’: Must be YC, himself ‘cause there was a lil’ rap in “Shotgun,”
too… Anyway, all this sounds nice! My
Rating: 4.2
Overall: Wasn’t really feelin’
this PO, but I’m glad we’re in store for
February, already! Good thing for my year-end countdown and everything else
gettin’ in my way to speed up time! But, can’t wait to play some of my top
picks, includin’ tha DS/ST song, tha “Mammoth” remake & that “Angels X
Demons” song!
