Dance Radio May 2019, here we come… Seein’ that there’s only 19 tracks on here, I
figured that it’d prolly be less filler. However, after seein’ tha tracks, I
think it’s gonna go like last month’s, but only a lil’ better. I know a few
more songs, as of recent & they sound good, but I’ono about tha newer ones…
Start Time: 9:09 PM | End Time: 10:27 PM
Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0
– 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!
I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long
as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and
then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a
song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6
rating, I pretty much really love it,
as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I
hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type
before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song;
anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m
listening to it.

01. Mathieu Koss & Aloe Blacc “Never Growing Up”
© 2019 CD Review (Review #1,801) reviewed on 4.17.2019 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.
01. Mathieu Koss & Aloe Blacc “Never Growing Up”
[Starts
review, assuming it’s “SOS”, despite never hearing till now…] >>> Didn’t
think it would start like this, but it sounds like it iz, of course, courtesy
of these vocals. Didn’t really like tha times of tha folk/blues “Wake Me Up”
but this sounds a lot better. *Checks ID* What a trick, lol!! Scorpio on tha label
& even tho Music Choice Dance just got it, my anticipation wasn’t that
high. I do think that this simple, happy-soundin’ music sounds pretty nice. Tha
vocals ain’t too bad but yeah, still better than tha “Wake Me Up” sound, even
tho that drop was better… I like its positive message of “Never Growing Up”
‘cause technically, for 30, I’ll always
be young!! My Rating: 4.0
02.
MYBADD & Sam Gray “Sugar”
What
could we have for #02? Could it be an Aloe two-play? >>> *Listens* Oh,
sounds like a new track… Don’t know what to expect, here, but it sounds pretty
nice… *Checks ID* Wouldn’t’ve guessed; guess tha surprises for a
decent-expected CD’s here… Sounds a lil’ better with these vocals; might have
to get used to ‘em a lil’ more… Tha chorus ain’t too bad; feelin’ a lil’ bit of
tha energy, here… We got tha NHMM fam showin’ luv on tha signin’, here,
providin’ some nice energy, of course… I’ll leave this a lil’ below a 4.0 for
its potential to grow with me. Maybe, a lil’ bit of extra exposure’ll make me
like it more? Let’s just see tha moments unravel… My Rating: 3.8
03.
Calvin Harris “I’m Not Alone 2019 (2019 Radio Edit)”
Columbia, here, with almost a
decade later, here comes this bein’ reborn… BPM drops by three & what do we
have…? Iz it really worth a 2nd try? I have to just say, lol ‘cause
Calvin became way bigger & “I’m Not Alone” (2009) was Track #02 on tha
September ’09 PO; it’s #03, now, for 2019!
>>> Thought MCD might’ve accidentally added tha ’09 version again but
this intro sounds tha same? Wow, it really
iz similar? 128 BPM, not 131? Sounds so alike, like, literally…? What did tha
original review look like, again? Did I rate it a 4.1? *Checks review…*
“02.
Calvin Harris “I’m Not Alone”
A
MCE [Electronica] artist that Ultra just signed, which made this an MCD song. They play it, and although it
sounds very weird in tha beginning, tha music iz just HOT!! It sounds REAL
TIGHT (mainstream style) durin’ tha song (can’t picture a pacific part, lol). I
find it funny that MCE didn’t get it, lol. Well, I don’t have much ta say about
tha rest. I guess it’s just tha chorus and that TIGHT music. I don’t know how
well this’ll do in tha mainstream Dance outlets. My Current Rating: 4.2”
Well,
4.2 pretty nice but I still think a lil’ low… To me, this year’s reminding me
of 2009, a lil’, with everything I have goin’ on. Maybe, it’s a coincidence
that this was brought back to life? Think it deserves a better rating than a
4.2… Glad he’s still “playin’ golf,” but can’t be “old” ‘cause we
“#80sBabiesInOur30s,” like I say! Could’ve went in a worse, real slower direction but to mainly
remain tha same, I guess we’ll see if tha pop world’ll start to actually notice
it, now, 10 years later… My Current
Rating: 4.4
04.
DallasK + Nicky Romero feat. XYLO “Sometimes”
If
Only & Amigo, here, courtesy of anotha DallasK track. Guess dance outlets
weren’t really “looking for [his] love,” now that we have anotha new track…
>>> Sounds okay for a start; didn’t expect a female vocalist, which
sounds good. Kinda a blend between tha two vocalists, which can sound creative.
Beats are a lil’ dry, with not much really goin’ on, durin’ this
semi-slow-paced track… Kinda went by quick… Might take this one to grow a lil’;
surprised I like tha previous track of his a lil’ better… My Rating: 3.7
05.
Khalid “Talk (Disclosure VIP Remix)”
Right
Hand & RCA, here… Heard on MCD, recently. Kinda a boring artist to remix
with this slightly-faster sound & to have my late brother’s longer birthday
on tha length (4:28) don’t really make too much sense to me. Sounds like he’s
desperate—oh yeah, I’m a decade older than him. Oh wait, don’t I consider
myself a decade behind, too, with talking
and communicating? I prolly should shut up, then? Good lil’ faster beats by
Disclosure, here, compared to tha slower stuff. Still, prolly could’ve sounded
better with a dance artist… My Current
Rating: 3.4
06.
VASSY “Concrete Heart”
Here
she comes with her KMV, here. Just heard it recently, courtesy of MCD &
just like tha sadly-ignored, mainstream Alan Walker & Sophia Somajo collab
of “Diamond Heart”, here comes VASSY with her succeedin’ “Concrete Heart”.
Overall, between tha music, vocals & lyrics, it sounds good. Most of her
tracks/collabs, I usually start to feel more than tha beginning listens/plays.
Still, a nice lil’ track, especially tha chorus & vocal-choppin’ durin’ tha
drop! Good strength providin’ that “Concrete Heart”! My Current Rating: 4.4
07.
Zookëper “Watch Me”
Prolly
gon be tha top-rated song on this CD, fa me? Enhanced, here, with one that took
one or two listens to grow with me. I like that he’s been releasin’ various
different tracks through different dance labels, each with different
dance/house sounds! Kinda ashamed that we’re clueless as to who tha vocalist
iz. Mr. Këper likin’ my playist posts but no response to who tha vocalist iz…
Either way, for what I have to say about it, I’m definitely diggin’ whoever
this girl iz’s vibe, over this Këper’s anthemic dance beats! Gotta “watch”
whoever it iz! We’ll prolly know by January or so; who knows! Gotta luv tha vocal
chop, once again, durin’ tha drop! Luv tha 2nd drop, as it has more
beats to it! Good shit! My Current
Rating: 4.8
08.
Lodato & PollyAnna “Sober”
Another
one from Enhanced, here, with one that’s still in tha process of slowly growin’
with me. I’ll admit: I actually drank a lil’ wine before this review & I
wanted it to have that stoned feelin’ for tha reviewz. I felt a lil’ somethin’
but by tha time I got to this review, not too much star power’s comin’ outta
it. Still, guess I had to “drink until I’m sober?” I’ono but a good vibe from
these two; hope to show it more luv in tha future. Maybe, some MCD luv, in tha
future? A lil’ bit of BPM luv but still, it’s an underdog for its release. I
kinda like its energy more than tha previous PollyAnna-featured track
(“Starchild” wit Ummet Ozcan) but I wound up rating that one a 4.6. At tha
moment, I don’t feel a 4.6 for this one, yet; we’ll see how it progresses with
me… Still, good beats; wish there were a few more elements in ‘em, like with
Mr. Joseph Duveen! My Current Rating: 4.2
09.
Ferry Corsten & Nevve “Freefall”
Ferry’s
Flashover, here… Nobody showed luv to his previous track, “I Love You”, which
became a huge PO-featured track, earlier, for last August. Now, we got this
collab; should be excellent, tho! We’ll see if people show it…luv…?
>>> Sounds like a good collab with this frequently-featured vocalist
on this one… Kinda sounds like a soft-soundin’ chorus; hope that’s a pre-game
to a big drop or somethin’? Likin’ tha breathin’, I guess…? I’ono, not too much
strength that I predicted? Maybe, a lil’ too short? I can betcha it’ll get a
lotta dance exposure ‘cause I know how that goes, when an underrated song
doesn’t get out there, but tha next less-soundin’ song gets out there… I’ll let
this one grow; not a full disappointment, tho… My Rating: 4.1
½time: Surprised this CD’s at a 4.1 for
tha CD rating, so far? Didn’t expect much outta it but I already knew a bunch
of tha songs. That’s prolly why its rating’s kinda up there, for a
decent-anticipated CD… Not sure how much more excitement’s left, so we’ll see
what we got…
10.
Audien & Echosmith “Favorite Sound (BRKLYN Remix)”
A
repeat song from March’s edition, in a better form. Thanx, MCD, for this one;
gave it tha boost it needed. Prolly, better beats during tha verses on tha
original version but I’m definitely diggin’ tha drop & chorus, here.
Somethin’ about how BRKLYN uplifts tha remixes sets tha tone for a good look. My Current Rating: 4.5
11.
Alessia Cara “Out Of Love (Morgan Page Remix Radio Edit)”
Alessia
strikes again, courtesy of Def Jam… Sure this’ll be okay/good? >>>
Sounds like an okay start, so far. If this winds up havin’ that vibe of tha MP
remix of “Feel Alive” on here, I can see it reachin’ for tha starz. However, I
just think it’ll be an okay remix. Like, sometimes, her remixed tracks have
strong sounds but her vibe makes it feel like it’s just okay… Hearin’ tha drop
and it’s almost like a “Feel Alive” vibe but it’s shorter and quieter? I’ono,
kinda boring, at times, as this drags along… Like, in my opinion, if it’s gonna
be 128+ BPM, at least let tha beats consistently drop/hit, instead of just
building up a sound… My Rating: 3.5
12.
Steve Aoki & MONSTA X “Play It Cool”
Ultra,
here, of course; not anticipatin’ anymore Aoki tracks… >>> I know this
one’s everywhere but I don’t have interest in gettin’ ready to hear it 10,000x…
Anotha male-vocalist track; bleh… Kinda sounds like a remake when tha chorus
starts… “Baby, I like tha way…” Music’s dry; to me, Aoki just puts somethin’
out to just stay consistent, but without any quality to make my veins rise, for
tha dance world… Bleh…; I’ont need anymore feedback… My Rating: 2.5
13.
Dynoro & Ina Wroldsen “Obsessed”
Arista,
here, with a new MCD track that came outta nowhere… Definitely better than his
“In My Mind” remake, especially that this an original track. For an excellent
vocalist like Ms. Wroldsen, this prolly could’ve had some better beats. Her
great lyrics of tryna “get free” & bein’ “Obsessed” sound like they blow
these dry beats away. Kinda likin’ her stutterin’ throughout tha beginning
parts of tha verses; creative for tha flow! We’ll see how this one grows with
me; a lil’ more exposure? She deserves more than just “How Deep Is Your Love”
(uncredited) for tha mainstream… My
Current Rating: 4.3
14.
Rod Carrillo & Terri B! “You Got What I Need (Kebab Radio Edit)”
Mr.
Carrillo, here, with a Carrillo release, as he’s returning to bring tha heat as
tha main DJ on tha track! Let’s see what it’ll bring, as tha CD suddenly
becomes faster…! >>> Kinda sounds like his throwback tracks, before I
was ratin’ ‘em really high… Realized tha track on tha previous PO (by tha Terri Green Project) was Terri B! on tha
vocals, herself. Since that was just okay/nothin’ special, I have a feelin’
this’ll be like that… It’s slightly better, but nothin’ too much to say… Kinda
sounds a lil’ boring/repetitive on tha chorus, even tho tha beat wants to try
& give me anticipation… Tha 2nd verse sounds a lil’ better with
tha music but I don’t see this one bein’ anything special/big, in tha dance
world. I mean, tha Billboard Hot
Dance/Club Play charts a lil’ different from tha MCD, BPM, etc. airplay,
meaning, it’ll prolly chart on there but prolly won’t get out there on tha
mainstream outlets. My Rating: 3.1
15.
Avicii feat. Aloe Blacc “SOS”
Avicii,
Geffen & Interscope, here, where I thought it was gon be Track #01. Neva
reviewed a PO where a death occurred to one of
its biggest artists & they go to release a posthumous track… *Checks BPM* I
see; only 101. No wonder why it’s this far down… Can’t believe he died on 4/20,
exactly a decade after VL Mike, from N’awlinz/Chopper City Boyz! Wonder how
this brand-new single gon sound, with a slower vibe? Hope it’s like “Lonely
Together”’s slower vibe… >>> Kinda doesn’t really sound like him, for
a start. Thought it would be more like his “Le7els”-soundin’ beats? Surprised
me with tha “pound of weed” line! Lol, only wish, right now! Kinda sounds cool
with tha beats but just like tha slower-paced tracks, they’re only
aight/nothin’ special. I like this better than “Wake Me Up”’s sound (its drop’s
still better) but still good for this 2K9…TEEN, I guess? Good lyrics to
resurrect Mr. Tim, here, as well as a relationship… Still, prolly was too hyped
from every1’s expectations… Surprised how short it iz, too… We’ll see how it
turns out to be, in tha future… My
Rating: 3.3
16.
Jonas Blue feat. Theresa Rex “What I Like About You”
Astralwerks
& Capitol, here… Not sure how high I wanna get my expectations… *Presses
play…* >>> A slow start… Kinda sounds like it could be somethin’ that
sounds great but I’ono, not too crazy about tha slower beats, I guess? A cool
sound but there’s a difference between producing dance and producing dance/pop! Maybe, this could use a
slightly-faster remix with some good sounds? Suggestion, maybe? For now, just
an okay pop/dance song, to me… My Rating: 3.0
17.
Nikki Vianna & Matoma “When You Leave”
Big
Beat & Atlantic, here… As much as my expectations are slightly decreasin’,
here comes a Matoma follow-up to where his previous song, “Sunday Morning”
(featuring Josie Dunne), only got MCD exposure (c’mon! “I wanna feel high on a
Sunday morning…!”) and now, we have a slower track featured on here. Didn’t
really get to hear it, despite MCD gettin’ a Breathe Carolina remix. We’ll see
how this slower original version sounds… >>> Liked Nikki’s Cash Cash
collab of “Jewel” that was underplayed. This sounds like it’s off to a good
vocal start with these decent beats. This has a better drop than some of tha
dry shit on here, so I’ll give this its props. I can see some growth in this;
good collab, surprisingly. Might be my favorite slow track on this CD;
definitely nice to “leave” tha bullshit behind, in this Vianna’s perspective…! My Rating: 3.9
18.
Martin Jensen & James Arthur “Nobody”
Astralwerks
& Capitol, again… Not anticipatin’ tha vocalist, slower beats & even
tha vocalist had to be cleaned up?
His d…r…y…-ass? >>>
Corny-ass pop lyrics, here… Martin? 115 BPM from tha “Slow Dance” times wasn’t
slow enough? Had to go almost 20 BPM slower? Been likin’ vocal chops durin’
drops, these dayz, but this one sounds lost with this J-Arthur! There are
special songs I rate high that have “&” in tha ID. These cornball songs
should be labeled as “feat.”, not “&”, in my opinion, to separate them from
bein’ special. It’s a weird assumption but to me, it’s like Martin had to get
James. I don’t see these two bein’ tha closest of collaborators or best
friends… My Rating: 1.2
19.
Young Bombs “Starry Eyes”
Endin’
it also with an Astralwerks & Capitol release, for tha love of God! Kinda
got tricked into ratin’ their “You’re Somebody Else” remix by Flora Cash kinda
high, as I didn’t realize it was an alternative song, at first. Now, let’s see
what they can bring to this table,
for an ending song… >>> Kinda sounds a lil’ unique with a female
vocalist, even tho they sound kinda young than your average dance vocalist…
Drop decent; not really feelin’ that random screamin’ sound in tha background…
I’ono, just a decent song, I guess, for an ending… My Rating: 3.2
Overall: Not really that great of
a PO & what saved it was tha tracks I
knew. I think my highest rated newbie was tha Ferry Corsten & Nevve collab
& that was only slightly above decent! I know by tha time we reach tha next
PO, somethin’ tells me that it gon be str8
fire! I just think that life gon go in such a bigger direction by tha time it’s
next month! I feel it, just as if I didn’t feel it for this & last month’s
edition…
