Review #2,053: Promo Only "Dance Radio July 2024"

Reviewed on 6.11.2024 (Review #2,053)

Whoo! Gettin’ more & more excited fa my upcomin’ birthday trip, comin’ up on Sunday…! For tha 1st tyme, I will be flyin’ to Hawaii!! Tha big island!! So excited fa dat, but b4 I get to it, there’s this week’s events to accomplish! One I have today iz my review for Promo Only Dance Radio July 2024! Looks like a promising edition; can’t wait fa this one…! Start Tyme: 9:52 AM | End Tyme: 11:26 AM

Disclaimer: I type how I wanna type (frequent use of “tha” instead of “the,” “iz” instead of “is,” “a”-ending words instead of “er,” and a few others). I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it, I like it how I wanna like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. Sometymes, I may not rate a song too high on its first listen, but in tha future, I could be playin’ it more than a higher-rated song…

01. Kygo & Hayla “Without You”
Label: Kygo/RCA
Kickin’ off this edition with them… Should be an exciting collab. Hope it sounds good, but I’ono how good fa me… >>> Sounds like an okay start with tha music & 1st verse, as usual Hayla collabz sound… Sounds like a good lil’ chorus; likin’ tha build-up to tha drop…! Sounds betta when tha music kicks in after tha drop, on tha chorus… Dunno how much I’ll get to play this one, as other outlets’ll prolly play this more than I’ll be interested in. As far as tha 2nd verse goes, it progresses tha song nicely. Go, Kygo! Go, Hayla! My Rating: 3.9

02. Dom Dolla feat. Caitlin Stubbs “girl$”
Label: Three Six Zero
How trippy, I must say… Last year, on tha July edition, I did a live review of it on tha cliff of tha Council Cup Scenic Overlook, in Wapwallopen, PA. Dom Dolla was on that edition, as well as others on this edition, too! Also, after lookin’ up tha vocalist to a new track by Matt Sassari, Dillon Francis & James Carter (“Close Your Eyes”), I found out that Caitlin Stubbs was that song’s vocalist. Then, when I went on to her Instagram page, I saw that she did tha vocals to this track! Good catch, Frankie! Didn’t really get to hear it in its entirety, but I’m ready to catch it on this edition! Diggin’ & anticipatin’ tha 134 BPM, too! >>> Kickin’ this off with almost an outside conversation, in tha beginning… Sounds more like Caitlin has a rappin’-like flow, on tha 1st verse… Sounds ehh, as far as tha feel-goodness goes. Hearin’ tha chorus & it’s all about tha “girl$,” here… Forgot to mention that with this title, tha “S” has a “$”. Last year, on tha July 2023 edition, we had Kah-Lo & she had her “Fund$”, ironically. Hearin’ tha music kick in on tha chorus & it’s pretty nice, to be this fast! Tha 2nd verse sounds random, especially when tha title part keeps repeatin’… Definitely likin’ tha faster-than-usual speed, for a dance track…! Needless to say, it’s a track I’ll give my props to. Just dunno how well this’ll do with me, too, if it’s gonna get played in tha world. I like how Dom Dolla ends tha music, on tha final chorus; cool ending! My Rating: 4.1

03. Martin Garrix & DubVision feat. Shaun Farrugia “Wherever You Are”
Label: STMPD
Anotha anthem from Mr. Garrix! Luv that he teams up with DV & SF fa anotha collab, like tha collabz from last year! Anticipated fa dis one…! >>> Sounds like a good lil’ slow start… Hoping for tha energy to kick in, soon… Hearin’ tha chorus & tha build-up, with that guitar… Hoping this one’ll turn awesome!! Sounds good when tha climax comes through to strike with tha drop! Definitely nice to hear! Gotta luv their energies combining on tha track!! Tha 2nd verse sounds good to hear, just like tha 1st verse; just progressin’… We’ll see how this one does, in tha dance world. At least “Carry You” got some good exposure in tha dance outlets, tho most of Garrix’s previous releases were a lil’ lower on airplay… My Rating: 4.4

04. Bebe Rexha “Chase It (Mmm Da Da Da)”
Label: Warner
Luv how Bebe sticks to her dance roots with this one! Glad she’s on anotha July edition, just like her two-tyme appearance for July 2023’s edition! As far as this track, I’m definitely luvin’ that she’s got an ear for faster beats! Shout-Out to 132 on tha BPM!! Diggin’ how she keeps her voice special with whomeva produced this track for her. All about tha craving of “Chase It”; nice lil’ chorus… Also, tha drop’s definitely catchy with all tha “Mmm Da Da Da” repeats! Go, Bebe!! My Current Rating: 4.5

05. Disclosure “She’s Gone, Dance On”
Label: Capitol/ICLG
Definitely diggin’ tha fastness, in this world! Anotha 134 BPM track, already!! Got to hear this one over tha past week, as a new track… Sounds like their randomselves, tho I luv their faster approach with these beats! Luv tha house vibe about this girl bein’ “gone” & that we must “dance on”! Definitely like that lil’ breakdown at 1:56… Sounds like an effect of winning! Luv tha anthem vibes!! Tha rest of this cool; definitely feel their sounds, throughout tha remaining minute of tha track! Like this one betta than tha tracks they released last year, too… My Current Rating: 4.4

06. Nelly Furtado feat. Tove Lo & SG Lewis “Love Bites”
Label: Casablanca/Republic
A year ago, we got “Eat Your Man” from Dom Dolla x Nelly. Now, here comes this! Who woulda thought she’d be on a Dance Radio edition as tha main artist?! Didn’t see that from “Promiscuous”, lol! Luv that she teams up with Tove Lo for tha duo of vocalizin’ & tha music ain’t too bad from SG Lewis… I have a feelin’ this one may get a lil’ overplayed & I may get sick of it? We’ll see how it goes, tho I luv me some Tove Lo…! Luv how they collab & how Tove Lo’s lyrics make Nelly become, like, an ‘80s baby instead of a ‘70s baby, lol. My Current Rating: 4.0

07. Ray Volpe “Song Request”
Label: VOLPEVERSE
Tha 1st track on here that I neva heard tha artist or even tha label…! Excited fa a new 130 BPM track! >>> Figured it was gonna be an odd-soundin’ male DJ, on tha vocals… Sounds like it’s gonna be some sorta house track? Sounds like tha build-up’s pretty nice…! Dude sound like he cuttin’ up (actin’ crazy), on tha chorus part… Whoa @ tha strong beats, durin’ tha drop! Reminds me of some Crankdat-type shit, when he’s on his 128 – 130 BPM house range! Definitely feelin’ tha 2nd drop with tha “da-da-da-da-da,” as Ray says…! Tha 3rd drop part sounded pretty dope, as well! What a bunch of energy! I’ll give it to him!! My Rating: 4.5

08. Adam Port & Stryv “Move”
Label: Keinemusik
Slowin’ down witta 120 BPM track, as well as some peeps that are unfamiliar to me… Also, a new label, as well! >>> Sounds like some decent slow beats… Not likin’ that vocalist; sounds like a mainstream rap/R&B-type voice… Might have to have those vocals & this slow vibe grow on me? A lil’ too slow to really appreciate, when it comes to today’s bangerz…! I like how tha drop sounds, startin’ at 1:12; at least there’s a boost in tha excitement…! Tha rest of this iz a hit-or-miss, basically… My Rating: 2.8

09. Elderbrook “Shallow Water”
Label: Mine
Elderbrook, again? Saw him on tha last edition, which I wound up likin’ a Dusky remix of 134 BPM to his “Glad I Found You” collab w/George FitzGerald. Now, he goin’ for anotha original version, to premiere on Dance Radio? >>> Anotha one off to a slow, 120 BPM-type start… Sounds okay with tha music; a lil’ betta than tha previous track on here. Tha 1st verse ehh; not too-too interested… Hearin’ tha chorus & it str8; can’t really say much… Tha drop almost sounds a lil’ like a slowed-down Regard or somethin’? I’ll give it some props. Not much to say about tha rest of this… Basically, just anotha Elderbrook appearance. My Rating: 3.5

10. David Guetta x MORTEN x Prophecy “Kill The Vibe”
Label: Future Rave/Spinnin’
I know I rememba hearin’ this one from one of tha shows that premiere new music, on SiriusXM… Lookin’ forward to hearin’ them speed thangz up to 133!! >>> Tha female sounds cool with her high/drugged-like lyrics, lol. Definitely feelin’ tha faster music in tha background! Definitely shines over tha 120-paced shit!! Tha rest of this progresses pretty nicely, just keepin’ up with tha pace…! Nothin’ much else to say; just luvin’ these faster anthems! My Rating: 4.3

½tyme: Definitely feelin’ this edition, with all tha random bouts of fastness goin’ on! Definitely luvin’ it fa me turnin’ 36, in just 10 dayz!! Definitely awesome, especially with what I got planned for tha future! Just like anticipatin’ plans, tha average rating of 4.0 sounds awesome to boost up tha quality of those “plans”!

11. Mau P “On Again”
Label: Insomniac
Nice to see Mau “on” anotha Dance Radio edition… Let’s see with this one, where I didn’t really hear-hear it in its entirety… >>> Sounds a lil’ weird with tha male vocals, tho I anticipate tha Mau P music… Sounds like a cool lil’ drop; likin’ that he’s goin’ tha 130 BPM route, too! Tha 2nd chorus sounds cool; feel like I can try & appreciate this one a lil’ more… I like tha lil’ build-up b4 2:28; definitely that rising effect! Goosebumps, euphoria increasing, you know! Tha remaining minute sounds cool, with tha chorus, once “again”! Oh, gotta luv tha last 32 seconds!! Definitely epic from Mr. P!! Lol @ tha last six seconds of a convo! My Rating: 4.2

12. Dombresky “In My Soul”
Label: Three Six Zero
Lovin’ & anticipatin’ these brand-new 130 BPM tracks!! Definitely tha place to be, right now! Dance Radio!! >>> Sounds like it might be off to a soul-house start, but a lil’ faster? Hearin’ a female sample & it sounds cool; we’ll see how this progresses… I like how tha music kicks in more & you feel those BPMs! Now, let’s see how this progresses… At 0:44, it’s just tha chorus part dubbin’; definitely cool, with this music! Makes me wanna get in a StoneBridge-type mode, with how I appreciate tha progression in tha track transitionin’! Tha rest of this transitions nicely; gotta luv a faster house track! My Rating: 4.4

13. Kryder “Fade Till Sunrise”
Label: Spinnin’
Luvin’ tha new music! Let’s keep these tracks movin’!! >>> Startin’ off a lil’ slow, with an interesting, quieter female vocalizin’… An anticipatin’ 1st verse; let’s see what’s next…! Sounds like a strong chorus; I will give this new-new track its props… How will this do in tha dance world? Are they ready fa Kryder? Likin’ tha instant energy in tha drop! Definitely deserved! Tha energy neva lacks, most of these dayz!! Tha 2nd verse sounds cool, too; just more anticipation for tha chorus comin’ up, with that drop! My Rating: 4.2

14. Jubel x NOTD “Chocolate”
Label: Warner
Well, say it ain’t so!! Gotta luv “Chocolate”! Should be interesting, especially with tha irony of “AM:PM” comin’ on Music Choice Dance, just now! >>> Sounds like one of those sweet girls with that voice, on tha vocals (e.g., Aviella). Not really likin’ tha auto-tune, includin’ when that male jumps in… Tha chorus a lil’…, I’ono… This ain’t really tha vibe to get crazy about. Tha drop sounds a lil’ plain; needed more excited, y’all two acts! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it feels like I would wanna appreciate tha verse more, tho I can’t stay tha auto-tune! Can’t predict how this one’ll do, in tha future… My Rating: 3.1

15. Thomas Gold & SVNSETS “The Game Of Love”
Label: Robbins
Looks like somethin’ exciting, tho I’ono if I’m anticipatin’ goin’ down to 120 BPM, again… >>> Was picturin’ tha title & I was tryna think of what era it was from… Well, let’s go back to tha 2002, 2003 tymes with Santana & Michelle Branch, on tha remake. Sounds interestin’ to have a slower version, courtesy of Robbins. I’ono how much I’ll be able to appreciate it, tho? No drop? Didn’t really like that it went from tha decent chorus to tha 2nd verse. Overall, kinda seems a lil’ bit of a waste in tha world, when certain remakes appear. My Rating: 3.0

16. PiCKUPLiNES feat. Brando & Travie McCoy “Suburbia”
Label: PiCKUPLiNES
Might be somethin’ wild, here? >>> Sounds more like I’m anticipatin’ a party-like vibe, for tha dance world? A lil’ weird with tha Brando vocals, on tha 1st verse… Doesn’t really sound like somethin’ I’d really anticipate. Tha chorus sounds like anticipatin’ a destination, at least… Just not feelin’ tha vocals & tha music ehh… A lil’ on tha plain side. Also, a resurrection from Travie McCoy? Not really excited about this one, overall… My Rating: 2.4

17. CYRIL “Stumblin’ In (NewEra Remix)”
Label: Spinnin’/300/Elektra
Not sure what to expect, especially with this mix of labels goin’ on… >>> Should I take this female & slow start on tha serious side? I’ono, but a lil’ poppy in tha beginning? Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it sounds more promising, with those sounds in tha music! Hope I can appreciate this more, on a dance level… Decent, between both tha male & female on tha vox… Tha rest of this a mix between okay & a lil’ long, sometymes… My Rating: 4.2

18. Taylor Swift feat. Post Malone “Fortnight (BLOND:ISH Remix)”
Label: Republic
Not really interested & I believe it’s already out in tha world… >>> Ehh, just a regular pop song, basically… Music ain’t too bad to chill out to, so I’ll give it those type of props… Taylor was decent on her verse (1st); Post sounds a lil’ catchy (2nd), tho I don’t feel like I’m in tha dance world… My Rating: 3.7

19. Katrina Woolverton “Bette Davis Eyes (Dave Audé Remix)”
Label: Red Red
I see tha Red Red in tha label & it makes me think of tha Katrina that came around in 2011, with her “OPM” track (8/11 PO & yes, Dave Audé remixed it, too)… I just rechecked, just for tha hell of it & yeah, same Katrina, only with a last name in tha ID! As far as this, I already know it’s a remake, so I’ono how much I gon like this slower Audé of 116 BPM… >>> Sounds more like a club update… Doesn’t really sound like anything you’d anticipate, in today’s world; reminds me of tha older dayz… Likin’ her strength in tha vocals, as far as when tha chorus hits. Tha drop ain’t bad; sounds more like a bonus track than anything… Nothin’ really else to say; likin’ tha sounds of tha Dave Audé remix, from 2011 – Now, still with Katrina! I might like this one tha best outta tha remake-type songs, on this edition… My Rating: 3.8

20. Orville Peck with Kylie Minogue & Diplo “Midnight Ride”
Label: Warner
Wonder how all these guys’ll team up fa this slow-dance track? >>> Not really anticipatin’ tha pop-soundin’ guitar, in tha beginning… Seems more like a pop/rock track? Also, tha flow reminds me of an older song? Weird-soundin’ male, here? Belongs in a country or rock world? Ehh, nothin’ really poppin’, here. I like tha lil’ drop at 1:00…, kinda. Much betta when Kylie Minogue appears on tha 2nd verse! That’s more like it, as far as appreciatin’ this vibe! Definitely feelin’ Kylie on tha 2nd chorus more! Shoulda just been a Kylie & Diplo-only collab? Tha interlude/bridge part sounds pretty nice, at 2:10; gets you anticipated for tha future…! Dunno how much tha dance world’ll play this one, if so… My Rating: 3.6

21. Ofenbach & salem ilese “Feelings Don’t Lie”
Label: Major/Warner
Endin’ it with two nice acts, even tho I’ono what 100 BPM’ll be like… I know salem used to it, with other artists… >>> Definitely appreciatin’ that music, in tha slow-paced beginning! Definitely cool; I feel anticipated fa this ending song! Sounds nice with salem on tha 1st verse; alwayz cool & tyme-defining! Tha chorus cool; gotta luv that music! Cool lil’ track, as tha 2nd verse comes through to deliver a more broken-down set of beats… Definitely likin’ when that chorus instantly strikes! That title part comes & then, tha chorus delivers! Tha bridge sounds cool, too; gotta luv tha increased anticipation! Cool lil’ music, toward tha end! Weird that this may be my favorite track on this edition! Talk about ending in an awesome way!! My birthday day, 21! June 21st! My Rating: 4.6

Overall: This edition was cool; I definitely felt a lot of tha energies, throughout this edition…! Some parts of this edition may’ve been a lil’ uninteresting, as far as some of tha slowness & remakes were goin’. In tha end, tha bangerz still overshadowed! They give me more hope for tha future! With that bein’ said, my last dayz of Age 35! Welcome Age 36, in 10 dayz!!
