Review #2,025: Promo Only "Dance Radio August 2022"

Reviewed on 7.10.2022 (Review #2,025)

Am I glad to be back for my 1st review, at Age 34? I’ono… B4 I get into this review, I just wanna let y’all know that I’m currently coping as tha victim of a robbery + attempted robbery with assault. Tha incident occurred two weeks ago today, where my Asperger’s Syndrome condition was mistaken for bein’ gay & I got double slapped in tha face!! I wasn’t alone, durin’ tha event; I had tha “artist”’s 21-year-old son with me but they failed to represent for me & I neva got what I paid for. I paid, as a token of my appreciation, a good sum for somethin’ of theirs, since they represented a type of neighborhood I’m not around that often. I met this person two years ago, got my current car on their birthday (2020), added John Summit & Echoes’ “Human” on their birthday (2021) & “Human” topped my PODR January 2022 review/got bigger. These qualities made me believe I was in for somethin’ special, originally. Luckily, I’m physically okay but I periodically would cry, unfortunately; my brain starts randomly generatin’ negative qualities to my head. Anyway, with that bein’ said, I feel like this a new era… Let’s see how we’ll kick off this new way of life with Promo Only Dance Radio August 2022! Not too sure my anticipation level on tha tracklist but I’ll just let my feelings out… Start Tyme: 4:30 PM | End Tyme: 5:58 PM

Disclaimer: I type how I wanna type (frequent use of “tha” instead of “the,” “iz” instead of “is,” “a”-ending words instead of “er,” and a few others). I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it, I like it how I wanna like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. Sometymes, I may not rate a song too high on its first listen, but in tha future, I could be playin’ it more than a higher-rated song…

01. Alok x Ella Eyre x Kenny Dope feat. Never Dull “Deep Down”
Label: B1/Arista
What a way to kick off tha new era of mine…! I would say, remakin’ old tracks in a catchy way, such as this, hits good…! Of course, had to have a great vocalist of our tymes, Ella Eyre, hold this one “down”; what a plus…! Great music collab between err-body; “These Sounds” really fall “Deep Down,” “in my miiiiind.” My Current Rating: 4.2

02. Tiësto feat. Charli XCX “Hot In It”
Label: Musical Freedom/Atlantic
Follow-up to “Savage”? Got to peep it out, recently; seems like a decent song. Just like “The Motto”, prolly one of those grower-type tracks, which I predict with this one. Charli exposin’ her sexy side, here, in a true “Motto” perspective, lol. Music from Mr. Ësto only okay, for tha most part; not too much poppin’ off with it, except for sometymes, when tha choruses progress. Other than that, mainly, just about a lil’ above tha decent side. My Current Rating: 4.0

03. Jack Wins “Live For Tonight”
Label: Spinnin’
Saw that BPM was pushin’ this one… Almost confused it with tha one I previously reviewed, where I gave it a really low rating. Now, let’s see where we stand… >>> Sounds like an okay female, like she came from tha ‘90s R&B era… Other than pointin’ that out, this really only on tha decent side. Sounds like tha repetitive, anti “plans for tomorrow” wants to clash with me but qualifies as tha vocal chop, here? I’ono… Mainly, just a decent lil’ track; I’ono how much of a grower it’ll be but at least this betta than tha low-scored previous track of his! My Rating: 3.4

04. Benny Benassi & Anabel Englund “Lightwaves”
Label: Ultra
A track that’s been out, recently, but not much of a push to keep it floatin’ above water with me… Of course, on a good, sexy side with Anabel Englund but mainly, a decent side with Mr. BB… Sometymes, a lil’ catchy with tha chorus music but I know he can make tha music better, especially with some1 as sexy as Anabel on tha collab. With that bein’ said, let’s see if this can get a bigga push out there… My Current Rating: 4.3

05. Aviella “Solo”
Label: Dim Mak
Literally, this iz exactly how you have to handle events, especially with 100.00 confidence & safety!! Can’t depend on others; my top events, feelings & everything comes from me ridin’ “Solo”, ya feel me? Definitely! As far as this track, I’m feelin’ how tha beginning sounds like a MEDUZA sound & then, progresses into a nice, strong dance/house feel. Nice job with keepin’ tha tracks up, Aviella…! “Don’t kill my high”; best advice! Once you “kill” it, toxic vibes come faster than you can imagine! My Current Rating: 4.3

06. Showtek feat. MC Ambush “Welcome Back Home”
Label: Skink
This one looks like it can be a dope collab, just like their “‘90s By Nature” track, from seven years, five editions ago? Lemme find out… >>> A spoken-word lyric, here… Kinda feel 50/50 about it, so far. I feel like this coulda been left as a speech, rather than a Showtek/Ambush collab. Sounds like it’s pickin’ up around 1:03 with tha music & sounds good/catchy with tha drop… As far as tha track, itself, I’ono if I see this one gettin’ out there that much. Haven’t seen much of Showtek’s stuff get out there, like they used to get their stuff out there. With tha rest of this, as least it ain’t slow & dry. My Rating: 4.2

07. Tobtok feat. Arinn “Satellite”
Label: Robbins
Looks like somethin’ I can look forward to…? >>> Yea; sounds like it’s off to a good start with this new female & Tobtok collab…! Definitely a plus to hear somethin’ like this, especially durin’ such—I hate sayin’ it, “DARK!” tymes!! Oh yea, definitely feelin’ tha music drop & how tha “Satellite” vocals continue!! Definitely an easy win, this sounds like? Literally thought it was gonna be somethin’ else but Lucky #07 takes tha cake!! Catchy vocals continuin’ throughout tha 2nd minute of tha song & tha rest of this sounds anticipatin’ to hear! Great job, Tobtok & Arinn, on tha awesome collab!! My Rating: 4.8

08. Jauz & Habstrakt “Like Before”
Label: Musical Freedom
How will these two collaborate on a track, here…? >>> I’ono about that quiet intro, where tha R&Bish vocal just came to slam tha speaker outta nowhere? I’ono but when tha build-up starts goin’ ham & buildin’ up to drop, tha drop sounds cool. As far as tha title part/repeatin’ vocal, it’s kinda ehh, as far as tha repeatin’ goes… Needless ta say, this an okay track; not too sure how it’ll do in tha dance world, tho… My Rating: 3.5

09. Farius & Cristina Soto “On My Mind”
Label: Enhanced
Anotha banger from Mr. Far, courtesy of this collab with a vocalist I only really heard once (also, heard Tritonal & Seven Lions tha same tyme, January 26, 2013)! Now, she’s here & this track’s pretty dope; gotta luv tha energy it progresses into! Yea, it has a slow start but Cristina gets you all in-tune with herself, at first; gotta luv tha continuous energy! That’s what it’s all about! Enhanced, continuous energy, as well as tha vocalizin’ b4 tha 2:00 mark, too! Definitely a major plus!! Gotta definitely feel these two!! My Current Rating: 4.7

10. Good Times Ahead, JSTJR & Jay Mason “Belong”
Label: Ultra
A track that’s been out there on Music Choice Dance…; haven’t really caught on-on to it… Tha male vocals are ehh/okay but, like, lol, when they go Jamaican at 0:56? Kinda sounds cool but sounds outta random place with a track like this? I’ono but I look forward ta hearin’ some arrangement like that on a future track, comin’ soon…! Music sounds nice for a 128 vibe but more for a mainstream crowd than my ears? My Current Rating: 3.2

½tyme: Seems like this edition’s goin’ over a lot betta than I expected, so far? A 4.1 average rating, currently; definitely nice, especially for these tymes… With that bein’ said, what can be next…? I’ono how much more anticipatin’ it gon be, tho…

11. Lucas & Steve x DubVision feat. Joe Taylor “Feel My Love”
Label: Spinnin’
Looks like it’ll be a nice collab? I know I’ve seen this one out there b4… >>> Sounds like anotha good jam/L&S collab; can’t complain about their energy & these male vocals, especially tha catchiness on tha 2nd verse…! Great job from every1, here; all about tha energy! Gotta be ‘bout what you “love”!! My Rating: 4.4

12. Lee Brice & Blanco Brown “Soul (R3HAB Remix)”
Label: Curb
Not too sure how this gon sound but I’ll find out now… >>> Not feelin’ these vocals; felt like seein’ tha Curb signin’ in 2022 made me think different. I remember them dayz but that was, like, Kaci Battaglia “Crazy Possessive” dayz of 13 years ago. Haven’t seen tha label in a minute & now, it’s here with these weird-soundin’, country-like vocals. Tha vocals & lyrics seem to be trash for me, even tho tha R3HAB drop sounds good. Other than that, definitely on a sappy tip fa me. My Rating: 2.1

13. DVBBS & Kideko feat. HAJ “Ride Or Die”
Label: Spinnin’
Could be anotha awesome collab…? >>> Oh, tha slap-housey vibe, as low-pitched as can be… That’s how I feel about tha vocals & even tha music. Oh, tha drop/chorus part sounds so simple, silly & catchy. Like, a Goodboys breed? Also, when I hear that 2nd part of tha drop, I keep thinkin’ it’s remakin’ a sound of tha past or somethin’. That’s how my mind reacts to it… My Rating: 3.1

14. Drake “Massive”
Label: OVO Sound/Republic
I’ono even know where to begin. I guess we’ll consider this a guilty pleasure but it’s one of them? I know Beyoncé iz in here, too, so we’ll see what I have to say about her. As far as this, like, really, a whole 5:36 original version from Drake comes on to a PO. I’ono, I feel like he sounds a lil’ off-beat, at tymes, when he starts each bar off. Most of tha parts I like are just tha music interludes. Other than that, it’s just Drizzy, basically? Also, sounds like some ideas I would have in my head, when it comes to all these musical breakdowns. I forget if Gordo (Carnage) iz in charge of producin’ this track but it gives me his type of vibes, here, with tha music… My Rating: 3.8

15. Fred again.. “Jungle”
Label: Atlantic
Just got to see this one get out there & now, here comes my review for it. Also, lookin’ forward ta this fastness from Fa..! >>> Sounds like a hype beginning & this (sampled?) female sounds pretty crazy, vocally? Reminds me of a Georgia Ku or some1 like that… Gotta appreciate this in its entirety, especially since 134 BPM-produced tracks like this don’t come that often! I definitely can say that durin’ a dark tyme like now but, here we are, already! Gotta luv it! Vocals can be all crazy & mysterious but at tha same tyme, Fa.. makes tha music interestin’, continuously…! My Rating: 4.4

16. Krewella “Drive Away (RetroVision Radio Edit)”
Label: Mixed Kids
Forgot to mention in tha beginning of this review, tha past three editions’ last songs (“Drive Away”, “Run Into Trouble” & “Escape”) all can be referenced to how I had to “escape” tha mess I was in, two weeks ago! Now, here we are with a remix to this track, which I think got on tha boring side. Oh, how was I so smart? I had tha car already started & backed in, in case anything went down… and, sadly, it did! As far as this remix, I’m likin’ tha vibe that RV brings to Krewell, here. Not that I’d be so in to playin’ this, now that that shit went down with me, but you never know. Nice ending 15 seconds at tha end, too; good job, RV… My Rating: 3.7

17. Icona Pop & Ultra Naté “You’re Free”
Label: Ultra
Luv to hear IP but I feel like it’s too much of rippin’ off UN. Like, I’d rather artists remake & interpolate tha beat than tha lyrics. Usually, I enjoy hearin’ UN but not hearin’ her since tha 12/10 PO seems like she’s been gone for too long? Kinda sounds a lil’ washed up on tha vocals, toward tha final minute of tha track… Can’t really appreciate this one that much; maybe, go tha Charli XCX route & interpolate tracks, Icona-to-tha-Pop…! My Current Rating: 2.5

18. Fedde Le Grand & 22Bullets “Down”
Label: Spinnin’
Wonder what we got… >>> Not really into these drowned-soundin’ vocals & slap-soundin’ music… Hearin’ tha chorus & ehh, ugly-soundin’ “Down”… Fuck!! Can’t escape all tha “Down”ing!! Lol? No comment on tha rest of this; just sounds random… My Rating: 2.0

19. Disco Lines “Baby Girl”
Label: Arista
Been seein’ these DL appear, between tha previous PO & now, some areas of SiriusXM. Now, here I am… >>> Only 111 seconds, here (1:51); seems like it’s gonna go really quick… Sounds like a secret remake or somethin’, with these vocals & tha music ain’t too bad. Also, weird part at 1:35? Weird what dance music has turned into with tha random meme part… My Rating: 3.6

20. Beyoncé “Break My Soul”
Label: Parkwood/Columbia
Tha other part of tha guilty pleasures, here, even with a bounced-out surrounding sample from Big Freedia. As far as tha track, overall, yea, it’s one I won’t appreciate. Beyoncé don’t sound as good as she did, in tha past. Also, she’s really repetitive throughout tha chorus & her rappin’ style sounds strange, too… Just like with Drake, Beyoncé gets anotha long run tyme of 4:36… Way too long of a boring-soundin’ track. Wish tha dance artists would get these longer-soundin’ tracks, at tymes. Now, they get all shortened & tha mainstream artists do what they feel. My Current Rating: 1.3

21. Sam Feldt & salem ilese “Hate Me”
Label: Palm Tree
Got surrounded on my playlist by anotha si collab with Imanbek & now, here we are. It’s true; while I was around tha “artist”, tryna have a good tyme, it was “Married To Your Melody”. Now that all tha nonsense occurred, here’s our ending song: “Hate Me”! Oh…, boy…! >>> Sounds like a catchy lil’ hum-along intro; catchy vocals from salem, too. Tha music’s okay, for a slower vibe, includin’ tha chorus & tha drop. Just sounds like a decent lil’ track; nothin’ much to jump for joy about, here… Basically, I guess this iz my withdrawal version of “MTYM”? Seems like it gon be… My Rating: 3.5

Overall: Seemed like it turned out ta be an okay review, overall. I gotta get adjusted to these new tymes but until then, I will continue to stay productive, productive, productive…!
