Review #1,452: Promo Only: Dance Radio March 2006

Reviewed on 3.16.2015 (Review #1,452)

Here goes anotha flashback CD to review for PO: Promo Only: Dance Radio March 2006; And again, just like tha previous two I just reviewed: It gon be in tha perspective of it bein’ 2006, still. Start Time: 11:23 AM | End Time: 12:00 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. Madonna “Sorry”
Wow, I actually forgot what tha 1st song was gonna be on here; funny… But yeah, hot beats and great song by Madonna! Pop stations betta play this!! They were lucky enough to get “Hung Up”, so this definitely deserves that exposure!! My Current Rating: 4.7

02. Lucas Prata & Reina “Love Of My Life”
Such a pure collaboration!! I believe Party 105 were tha 1st to get this and when I first heard it, I instantly fell in love with it!! Tha perfect kinda duet and even better: I saw them both at Megajam ’10, though I believe Reina had left before they could actually perform it together, lol! A song like this, including its anticipation, deserves a **PERFECT RATING** from me!! My Current Rating: 5.0

03. Danielle Bollinger “Kiss The Sky (Mike Rizzo Global Radio Edit)”
Slightly sounds different from tha Mike Rizzo Global Club Mix (132 BPM, where this iz 134), recently on Promo Only: Mainstream Club March 2006! Such pure quality that she has a new song out! I knew I had to preview it before it could get anywhere! I do like that version slightly better, but this one’s still good. Either way, a lil’ cheesy before tha bridge, where, “I’ll kiss tha sky… I’ll kiss tha sky…” repeats… My Current Rating: 4.6

04. CeCe Winans “Let Everything That Has Breath (Tony Moran & Warren Rigg Radio Edit)”
Don’t think I remember fully hearin’ it, but based off of how it looks, it reminds me of somethin’ on tha Gospel tip? >>> Nice intro… Umm, not too crazy about tha auto-tuned vocals on tha 1st verse… Yeah, not too crazy about a song like this. Oh, hearin’ tha chorus and it sounds like I might’ve heard an original version or somethin’ at one point; odd… My Rating: 3.4

05. Debbie Loeb “Faraway (Valentin Radio Edit)”
Anotha song I first heard and instantly fell in love with it! She sounds so vulnerable but tha song, especially with Valentin on tha beats, sounds so hot!! Gotta luv and appreciate it every second along tha way! My Current Rating: 4.8

06. Goldfrapp “Ooh La La (Benny Benassi Remix Edit)”
Keepin’ tha consistency goin’ with this one! Diggin’ tha fast-soundin’ BB beatz with Goldfrapp’s sexiness! Catchy tune! My Current Rating: 4.4

07. Beyoncé Feat. Slim Thug “Check On It (Maurice’s Nu Soul Radio Edit)”
I LOL’d when this got on MCD and got remixed. I was like, “Wow, Slim Thug enters tha dance world!” All slowed down with some faster beats… Kinda funny, but just average… Either way, not really lookin’ forward to constantly hearin’ this on MCD! My Current Rating: 3.7

08. Freemasons Feat. Amanda Wilson “Watchin’”
Slightly different from tha club mix I got from Ministry Of Sound: The Annual 2006. I kinda liked that one’s beats better, but this has that power in it, still! Just so anticipatin’ when I hear tha vocals and beats!! Samplin’ Deborah Cox, here!! My Current Rating: 4.9

09. Mary J. Blige “Be Without You (Moto Blanco Radio Edit)”
They still sound tha same on tha beats to this day; this was tha 1st time we heard MB… But, this was nice when it first came out; nice way to give tha original version a combination of more spins… My Current Rating: 3.8

10. Chris Brown “Run It! (Jason Nevins Radio Edit)”
Sounds kinda crazy, though I neva felt it without Juelz Santana on it… My Current Rating: 3.3

11. Fall Out Boy “Dance, Dance (Tommie Sunshine’s Radio Edit)”
Ehh, it’s whatever; that’s all I gotta say… My Current Rating: 2.4

12. Tiffany “Na Na Na”
Neva really gave it an official listen; here it goes!! >>> Really diggin’ those fast beats in tha beginning! Feelin’ her vocals on this; nice job, as always! Catchy chorus, here; oh, she’s always a turn-on!! My Rating: 4.5
EDIT: Too bad it neva got out there… L

13. Renée Stakey “Lonely Dream (Mike Rizzo Global Edit)”
Our Party 105 girl! Doin’ a nice job with this one! Gotta feel Rizzo on tha beats, as well as her comin’ through with her Long Islandness!! Oh, and even better: When my boy Al & I gave her a mini review, or better yet, when he posted what made his April 2006 CD on Party 105’s Long Island Press message board, Renee actually wrote ME an email!

I actually got her number, AIM, etc., though at tha time, I was a lil’ too shy to get a hold of artists! OMG, he must’ve been so jealous of me gettin’ that email, lol! I seem to be always lucky! That’s ‘cause I’m FrankieThaLuckyDog, lol! My Current Rating: 4.4

14. Sybil “Don’t Give Up”
LOL, I ain’t hear it, but I heard it was one station’s #1 song of 2006… >>> Sounds like tha late ‘80s / early ‘90s with tha beat intro, here… I dunno how this would’ve been their #1 song; just sounds decent… My Rating: 3.0

15. Ferry Corsten Feat. Simon LeBon “Fire”
A catchy tune with that FC beat! Lead singer of Duran Duran on tha vocals, here, doin’ a nice job! Should be pretty big this year! My Current Rating: 4.3

16. Taxi Doll “Waiting (Josh Harris Radio Edit)”
Here comes a lil’ oldie… I actually saw this on iPR’s playlist back in October 2005 or somethin’. Now, it’s finally here? People gon think this came out in ’06 or somethin’! But, it’s a pretty-good remix; not sure if I like tha original better, but good job remixin’ this, Josh! Just gotta think of a damn “taxi” when you hear Taxi Doll! My Current Rating: 4.3

17. Black Fras “Moving Into Light (Freemasons Mix)”
I actually like tha vulnerable original version better. This mix’s kinda ehh…; thought I’d hear more elements from tha FM themselves! My Current Rating: 3.1

18. Angel City Feat. Lara McAllen “Sunrise”
Actually heard that this song was from ’04! However, glad it’s on here! Such a powerful song and I’m glad they continue to make such powerful music!! Definitely feelin’ that STRONG chorus!!! My Current Rating: 4.9

19. Janice Robinson “Dreamer ’05 (Joe Bermudez Radio Edit)”
I neva heard it; looks like a remake? >>> Yeah, tha Livin’ Joy song; sounds catchy to be resurrected… I’m feelin’ that Josh Harris sound JB brings to this track; it ain’t bad… I actually think it sounds betta than tha Cyndi Lauper resurrected remix from tha previous PO! My Rating: 4.1

20. Ozzie “Let Me Be (1996 Mix by DJ Ultra)”
Wow, anotha one I ain’t hear before? But, are we goin’ back even further? “1996”? Fa’real? 136 BPM on this one! >>> Ooh, sounds like Breakbeat music!! Wow, nice beats; what a surprise! Ain’t know what to think of this one, at first, but it sounds dope! Vocals come in at :33 and it sounds like a really auto-tuned Ariel or somethin’; catchy, surprisingly!! Nice chorus beat, too! Thought this was gon be a minute longer, but this was nice to hear!! LOL, fade-out ending! My Rating: 4.4

21. Beat Thrillerz Feat. Melodie Joy “Rain (Micky Bono Radio Mix)”
Wow, a 3rd one in a row I neva heard before!! How we gon end this edition? Anotha Disney presentation, lol? >>> Nice music start, here! Vocals sound sweet; sounds like a catchy song, though I dunno if it’ll get out there, in my 2006 perspective? LOL, anotha fade-out! My Rating: 4.2

Overall: Lots of quality on this CD, too! Can’t believe there were six jointz on this edition I neva heard, before!! Lots of great artists on this CD that provided tha quality that had to be provided!! Let’s keep it up!!
