Review #312: Promo Only: Dance Radio October 2009

Reviewed on 9.28.2009 (Review #312)

FrankieThaLuckyDog in tha buildin’, ‘bout ta do tha review for tha latest Promo Only Dance Radio. Unlike last October, where there were 2 **PERFECT RATED** songs and a NICE average CD rating, this October, it looks like it gon be real weird. Expect tha lowest of tha low right now on my review for Promo Only Dance Radio October 2009! Start Time: 5:09 PM | End Time: 8:11 PM

Quick Notes:
1. I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings (if a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it) so any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating.
To tha artist/producer: Don’t get catchy feelin’s if I don’t like a song on a first listen. Things could change in tha future as I could love it, so you neva know!
2. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.
3. AL = Anticipation Level
4. MC = Music Choice (wit these letters attached, it adds to MC: D/E = Dance/Electronica (just a D or an E represents tha separate part of tha channel); R = Rap; H = Hitlist; HH&R&B = Hip-Hop And R&B; SOTS = Sounds Of The Seasons)
5. PO = Promo Only
6. iPR = iPartyRadio
7. RE = Radio Edit
8. P105 = Party 105.3
9. PB = Perfect Beat
10. MS = MySpace
11. YT = YouTube
12. FB = Facebook
13. IC = In-consideration (of playing tha song)
14. HM = Hit mixer
15. Any other initials usually relate to tha artist/song I’m currently reviewin’.
16. DvD = Dance vs. Dance (meanin’ a Dance artist covered/remade another Dance artist’s song)

© 2009 CD Review (Review #312) reviewed on 9.28.2009 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. Whitney Houston “Million Dollar Bill (Freemasons Radio Edit)”
And this PO starts off wit… dicks bein’ pulled out, lol! What I mean by that iz when Dance stations see this, they’re goin’ to dickride it IMMEDIATELY!! I got this about a month ago, but didn’t even listen to tha whole thing yet; iz that AL or what? May be a good remix, but after bein’ delayed a whole playlist, let’s hear tha whole thing… >>> A lil’ on tha disco side, but it slowly got better once tha REAL FM beat kicked in at :16! It may be good on tha FM part, but it’s kinda a lil’ boring to me. Glad for her comin’ back though, so I don’t think this’ll be annoying on sources. Tha lyrics should make tha song have MORE of a Dance vibe here. I don’t think it’ll have enough potential to be playlist material right now, so it still iz on ignore for me. My Rating: 3.6

02. The American Dream Team “My Boo (Radio Edit)”
Speaking of boring, after seein’ tha title, I had a feelin’ it would be a cover up to tha R&B ‘90s song. MCD just got this, and although it has GR8 vocals, tha music iz too boring. :( What ever happened to… you know, VOCAL TRANCE??? I feel like as tha world progesses, we see less beats wit a VOCAL TRANCE style. :( Tha music iz ‘pose ta be 130 BPM, but I hear boredizim… I like tha beat at :47, but that’s just tha quite part, which iz usually tha more anticipating part. A lil’ interesting wit tha music at tha 1:20 – 1:40ish part. A lil’ dry wit tha music, but it has some good parts, so I’ll give it those props. Sounds like there’s barely any vocals at times. It feels like a minute too long ‘cause wit tha beat bein’ like this, I wouldn’t’ve expected it to be 4 minutes long. My Current Rating: 4.0

03. Star Pilots “In The Heat Of The Night (Radio Edit)”
I know we just had a cover up song, but this title looks like anotha one. I have no clue what to expect, so let’s see what it gon offer!! >>> I like tha lil’ fade-in beginning; this sounds GOOD on tha quality!! Nice, anticipating intro we have here!! PO doin’ a REAL NICE job already?? REAL GOOD!! I believe this iz a Parker/Next Plateau song too, so you KNOW that’s a PLUS off tha bat!! Catchy vocals, and a REAL NICE beat!! REALLY lookin’ forward ta playin’ this, and sources, don’t be shakin’ your “million dollar bill” too much over this song!! And… tha last minute of tha song just PROVED consistency!! My Rating: 4.6

04. Three 6 Mafia Feat. Kaleena “Shake My (Jump Smokers Radio Edit)”
This izn’t Dance… this izn’t Rap… this IZ like Hip-POP to me… JS are not Dance remixers; they’re Pop-Dance remixers, so I don’t know what ta say… I heard tha original, and it was on tha Pop-Dance-Rap type wit a gr8 chorus, but let’s see what made a remix wit no BPM change… >>> Already, you can TELL it’s a Pop route ‘cause Jump Smokers said in tha beginning “Three 6 Mafia got them Oscars;” that’s POP right there… I like tha chorus, but it sounded better in tha original version. Not really into JS’s style ‘cause it sounds like there’s not even an ATTEMPT of Dance here; where’s Mike Rizzo?? What can I say about DJ Paul’s 1st verse, lol? It fit tha style, I would say. Juicy J of Three 6 on tha 2nd verse here, and Hip-Hop people, they would HATE on this!! LOL! That chorus makes me laugh wit tha “shake my ass.” Both Three 6 members are on tha 3rd verse, and I have no comment. Really, it would be like, I would play tha original over this. However, because this iz targeted at Dance stations, I would rather play this ‘cause tha original version seems like an embarassment for Rap music on my playlist, which when it’s Rap, it’s UNDAGROUND on my playlist! My Rating: 3.2

05. Plumb “Hang On (Digital Dog Radio Edit)”
Glad she’s got DD on tha remix; this should be GR8! >>> Sounds like DD wants to always use this fade-in style for their beginnings, and their somewhat good beats during tha verses/chorus. Sounds like tha P!nk “Please Don’t Leave Me” mix, but I like how she sounds on this one. Nice job from tha Dog on tha mix, although I would’ve expected a better chorus. Tha lyrics sound catchy too, especially tha “starving” part on tha 2nd verse. If this mix iz just decent, I know where I can get buku radio edit mixes for this, including Plumb’s favorite B & Bose (can’t spell tha 1st person…). I bet one of those other radio edits out there iz better than this one. My Rating: 3.8

06. Alli Sims “Driving Blind (Still & Havoc Radio)”
This looks like a HUGE AL for me, lol! Tha artist’s 1st name looks like a HOT female! Tha last name iz tha name of my boy from Baton Rouge, who iz a GR8 rapper/producer, so MEGA AL for that! Tha title iz CATCHY, and tha remixers are from tha latest Sarah McLeod song, so DEFINITELY anticipatin’ this!! *Checks ta see who signed* New label (Essential), so DEFINITELY a plus!!! >>> Already, tha beginning had a NICE kick-in; sounds like ANOTHA gr8 one here!!! DEFINITELY a catchy one here wit a KICK-ASS beat, DIFFERENT STYLE, from S&H!! REAL CATCHY on tha vocals, lyrics (if I can hear them ova that GR8 beat), and BEAT here!!! I believe this iz better than tha Pilots song on here!! Just LUV that beat!!! Way to go to my boy Sims from Baton Rouge for tha anticipation!!! TOO consistent; it DOESN’T stop at anytime!!! It’s 0% BORING, 100% TIGHT!!! My Rating: 4.8

07. deadmau5 Feat. Rob Swire “Ghosts N Stuff (Radio Edit)”
We went from HUGE AL to CRUMB AL… Yea, MCE got tha original version (wit no vocals) about 5 and a ½ months ago. It was okay, somethin’ just decent ta listen to, but did it really need ta be brought to a mainstream audience wit vocals? I guess like Three 6 Mafia & Kaleena, time to “shake my” AL out tha window wit this one! :( >>> *Scared to hear tha vocals!!* Ugh… they sound like ‘80s Depeche Mode or some shit. Tha beat actually sounds cool on tha boombox here. Not really into tha chorus; what’s wit tha screaming-singing? I sense dickriding in tha future wit Dance stations… I have a feelin’ it’ll be a playlist song for me, but not that strong of a playlist song. Still pretty catchy (reminds me of how Pitbull got on Dance tracks), but yea, I should stop sayin’ anything else, lol. My Rating: 3.5

08. Backstreet Boys “Straight Through My Heart (Dave Audé Radio Edit)”
Heard a sample, but lemme hear tha whole thing wit this mix… >>> They used tha beginning beat of tha original on this one. Tha beat sounds REAL catchy this time. Although it’s BSB, tha mixes to this song are REAL, REAL good! DEFINITELY a nice beat in tha 1st verse, although wit tha other mixes, tha beat catches on better wit tha chorus; this chorus’s beat iz just decent. I still like how Dave Aude used tha original beat and mixed it throughout tha whole song though; that was catchy. Because I have Mike Rizzo & Mr. Mig mixes already in rotation, I’m not goin’ to automatically add this one yet; I’ll add it when a source adds it. But yea, Mike Rizzo has tha best version so far! My Rating: Mike Rizzo Funk Generation Radio: 4.4 | This Mix: 3.9

09. Lolene “Sexy People (Static Revenger Mix Radio Edit)”
Glad they put tha right mix ta this one on here! Anotha Mike Rizzo mixed song. His sounds good, but Static Revenger made a comeback wit this HOT female! How long will it take for mainstream sources to pick up tha original? REAL HOT beat, catchy song, and tha beat iz just TOO HOT at :53 – 1:07!!! Definitely catchy wit tha lyrics, song, beat, and everything. However, tha last 53 seconds: why that boring beat? Too long of an ending beat; should’ve been tha last like 30 seconds or so. At least repeat tha chorus! My Current Rating: 4.5

10. Shwayze “Get U Home (Supersede & Nick Morrison Radio Edit)”
Back to tha topics: This looks like it tha 2nd Rap song on here. Tha original to this WANTS to be Dance-Rap-Pop, lol (just like tha Three 6 Mafia song)! Though I don’t know tha remixers, my AL for this iz quite odd… I bet it’ll be 3-6, but prolly lower than 4.0 for me. >>> LOL, it’s a fast start, lol! Reminds me of old Dance music from tha Early 2000’s in tha beginning. Tha beat changed, and added rappin’. This iz a mix of random shit, which gives me a plus. Nice rappin’… tha chorus not bad. LOL @ “tasting like cigarettes!” Tha 2nd verse was a lil’ funny. These remixers get a plus from me, so I look forward ta hearin’ more from them! My Rating: 3.9

11. Ali King Feat. Fabolous “Losing My Mind (That Kid Chris Radio Edit)”
Anotha Ali…! Anotha rapper (Fabolous)! And tha mix looks like it gon be good wit TKC!! Jellybean Recordings signed (old Dance label that signed HOT, fast Dance songs), so just like wit tha OTHER Alli (2 “L’s”) song from on here, will all tha statistics apply?? >>> LOL @ tha long beat intro thing wit Fabolous in tha beginning… Beat iz very dry for a start; hope for some tightness soon!! It starts wit F-A-B-O here, soundin’ pretty catchy here wit soundin’ slow. Tha female iz here, and it sounds pretty good. Some of this song (mainly in tha chorus) sounds like a remake; SHIT! What song iz it remakin’?? LOL @ Fabolous in tha middle of nowhere wit tha “iz what it iz.” I wonder why Jellybean signed this? Will mainstream people pick this up then? I thought this was gonna be catchy… Sounds like a good playlist song for me, but not that high of a rating. I have a feelin’ MCD will be tha only one that picks this up, unless P105 wants to ‘cause of Fabolous. My Rating: 3.7

½time: It looks like a REAL GOOD start! There are 2 songs that I INSTANTLY fell in love wit, as well as “Sexy People” bein’ a given, makin’ it 3! I HOPE wit tha rest of tha songs comin’ up that this CD keeps goin’!! Tha average CD rating iz at 4.0, so that’s good!!

12. Kim Sozzi “Cry Tonight (Kiss Me Back) (Radio Edit)”
LET’S KEEP ‘EM COMIN’!!! It’s ID’d weird, and everybody ID’s it differently. Here, it says “Kiss Me Back (Cry Tonight)”, many people call it “Kiss Me Back”. Then, it’s “CT (KMB) (RE)”, but on her album (which iz on Amazon), I see tha full info: “CT (KMB) (Jeff Martens Radio Edit)”, which I go by. I don’t know why PO put a “content warning” on this song. I listened to every lyric/content, and found nothin’. Either way, LUV tha beat, tha NICE 133 BPM, tha intro, and Kim doin’ tha damn thang on this song!!! Nice follow up song here, and it grows DAY BY DAY wit me!! Luv how she sounds on tha chorus; she DOESN’T age!! Gotta give her props for hookin’ up wit Jeff Martens, Bellatrax, Josh Harris, Mike Rizzo, Johnny Budz (on “Alone”), Anton Bass, and others on her CD; she found like DAMN NEAR ERR-BODY!! My Current Rating: 4.6

13. Basshunter “Every Morning (Radio Edit)”
You know what AL I have for this one!! No doubting it!! >>> Just like tha DJ Antoine song from last month, this one has a Rock intro. I have a feelin’ it’ll go to tha HOT Dance beat soon! I hear a lil’ bit of it at :20! Glad he went for a 3rd single here! :tu This iz still pretty catchy; I like tha chorus on this one tha best. Tha beat FINALLY hit a peak at 1:23! :tu NICE JOB there!! LOL @ tha “makes me a cup of coffee” line. DEFINITELY hotness here; I KNEW it was an automatic plus! My Rating: 4.4

14. Rod Carrillo & Shefali “Here We Come (Ready Or Not) (Albert Castillo Radio Mix)”
“Here We Come” iz RIGHT!! After tha whole “Moonshine Rising” song ½ year ago (wow, that long ago already!), I got my AL NICE & HIGH for this one!! For a introduction notice: I saw tha original version’s video on YouTube, and was happy a female was singin’ it. It sounded kinda slow, so I was like, “How iz PO gonna get this?” Now, they did, and they got tha RIGHT mixer ta do it!!! >>> Hear that beat (mix of RC & AC)!! DEFINITELY catchy, ESPECIALLY at :13 and CONTINUIN’!!! I luv how it got STRONGER & STRONGER ‘til :30 (like “Moonshine Rising”)!! I guess AC iz tha best remixer out now; unstoppable and REALLY continuous!! Tha vocals are DEFINITELY HOT, and tha beat DEFINITELY goes NICE!! Tha chorus iz DEFINITELY catchy too; REAL NICE mix here!!! SO GLAD this PO got consistent!!! Such HOT vocals, and I’m SO GLAD they put a music video out for it too!! Tha vocals almost remind me of Exit 59 & Dani Vasile. :tu Tha music iz just TOO HOT, and it doesn’t stop, ESPECIALLY at 2:53, where it’s just at a NICE PEAK!! :tu I feel like tha PO turned into tha same quality I would hear wit my Baton Rouge music: NICE & CONSISTENT wit OVER-THA-TOP TIGHTNESS!!! My Rating: 4.6

15. K.I.G. Family “Shoulders, Knees & Toes (Cahill Radio Edit)”
Looks like they forgot a slash in tha mix name ‘cause it’s 2 different mixers. Anyway, not havin’ a CLUE what this iz, Next Plateau signed, it’s new mixers (minus Cahill, who are GR8), 130 BPM, content warning, so this gon be REAL GOOD!! Let’s keep this PO goin’!!! Oh yea, that title looks like tha stupid dance craze that certain rappers have (wit their stupid “do tha stanky legg” dances), but that AIN’T gon decrease my AL! ;) >>> LOL, who would’ve guessed, it’s more on tha Rap type, but also mixin’ in Reggae. Tha beat here iz DEFINITELY nice, so tha beats DEFINITELY keepin’ it consistent! That “stupid dance” reference jinxed this song, but wit this song, it ain’t a stupid dance craze IMO. Tha lyrics are definitely catchy here, and tha mixin’ combination of tha 2 mixers are DEFINITELY nice!! Looks like we got buku songs for my likin’ this month!! DEFINITELY catchy here, and tha whole song iz DEFINITELY interesting ta me! I hope this gets to a MCD or somethin’ ‘cause it deserves ta hit at least 1 source for me! Tha ending was nice wit tha pitch decrease! My Rating: 4.5
EDIT: Not K.I.G. Family “Shoulders, Knees & Toes (K.I.G./Cahill Radio Edit)”, but K.I.G. Family “Head, Shoulders, Kneez & Toez (Cahill Radio Edit)”.

16. Sirens “Don’t Let Go (Nicola Fasano & Steve Forest Radio Edit)”
This iz tha one that has a lot of my AL!! Interestin’ ta see NF & SF do a mix together, especially for tha HOT Sirens!! REALLY lookin’ forward to this!! Although this iz tha 2nd Domestic single from them, this tha 3rd for me (had an exclusive “Dreams” song that no one got last year November)!! >>> LOL @ tha intro. Tha beat iz soundin’ different/odd here for a start. Will it mix Urban or somethin’? Let’s see what we got here… I thought there would be a Dance beat here, but this iz less Dance here. It all good though ‘cause it’s catchin’ my attention. Tha beat keeps gettin’ me anticipatin’, but I guess I’ll just tolerate this. Catchy here; will anybody pick it up? I like tha “Dreams” & “Club La La” songs better, but this, you KNOW, won’t be shy on airplay for me, ESPECIALLY for sum hot ladies! LOL, even rappin’ on here! Don’t know who tha rapper iz (sounds like Kid Cudi), but that part was random/not bad. This iz a different sound for NF, but speakin’ of SF, I remember when I was lookin’ for “Modern Times” (from him & Ortega), I heard a mix that sounded like an Urban mix? Maybe that had some jinxin’ for this. Interesting song/mix though for me! My Rating: 4.3

17. Inna “Hot (U.S. Radio Edit)”
Looks “hot” on tha ID, lol! Ultra Records song, so let’s see if they signed a hottie!! >>> Sounds anticipatin’ so far; likin’ this beat!! Okay, tha vocals are pretty good here; DEFINITELY has tha “hot” in it!! Catchy chorus too; I FUCKIN’ LUVIN’ tha Fall 2009 music now!! It’s a BREATH OF FRESH AIR!! :) I like tha lil’ breakdown ‘round 2:40. :tu I hear a guy chantin’ too, which it makes tha song sound catchy. Almost makes me wanna think of anotha country’s origin! My Rating: 4.2

18. The Crystal Method Feat. Emily Haines “Come Back Clean (Kaskade Remix Edit)”
Back to our MCE topic here; TCM are a popular MCE artist. But, we got a female this time on tha vocals (that’s unusual for them), and Kaskade on tha mix, so it might bring an MCD audience this time! >>> A lil’ on tha borderline, beginning soundin’ here. I heard a “goatee” in tha verse, lol? I thought tha vocals were gonna be sweeter. Tha chorus was pretty catchy; I’ll give a thumbs up to Kaskade on tha beat. Catchy “in tha back seat/taxi” part in tha 2nd verse; startin’ ta catch on now. Gettin’ catchy now wit tha “hold my breath” part, as well as hearin’ tha title. Who will pick this one up? My Rating: 3.7

19. The Ting Tings “Great DJ (Calvin Harris Remix Radio Edit)”
Before I get disgusted, you know what? I’m gonna go pee! *Goes to tha bathroom* Okay, I feel better for this! You see this? This iz MCE material from like June 2008! It’s not ’08 anymore! You think I can revive my boy Nu$$ie (Baton Rouge rapper) back? NO! Then, there’s NO REASON to revive this mix! Oh, fine! Lemme do tha review on tha radio edit… (no dashes needed) They just shortened tha intro, and still got tha verse tha way it should be. Damn, I feel like it’s MCE when they were just their own channel now, lol! They shortened tha “drums” part, and kept that somewhat boring music in tha back. Although I really do, I don’t “love” this version’s “BPM!” Good radio edit, but I believe it came out SOOOOOOOOOOO long ago ‘cause TTT release music in tha UK also! Now, lemme go and put on tha better mix: 7th Heaven Radio Edit!! … Much better intro, and their beat iz good in tha 1st verse! Tha chorus iz DEFINITELY tight wit tha 7th Heaven touches!! Although “tha BPM” iz tha same on this version, I “gotta luv tha BPM,” lol! Tha beat sounds REAL GOOD at tha 2:33 mark; gotta LUV 7th Heaven for dat!! My Current Ratings: 7th Heaven Radio Edit: 4.7 | Calvin Harris Remix Radio Edit: 2.8

20. Rachel Rose “Tell Me A Secret (Valentin Radio)”
REALLY lookin’ forward ta this mix!! MCD has tha Dave Rose Radio Mix in “late night” rotation, so it barely comes on. That sux ‘cause this iz some HOTNESS here, signed to Yo Pal! Entertainment (who signed Monica Leigh [Long Island, NY model]’s “Come To Me” song 5 POs ago)!! Tha content warning iz ‘cause she says “hell” in tha song, but Valentin’s back, so HUGE AL on this one!!! >>> Didn’t expect that sound from Valentin; almost caught me unexpected like tha QED remix he did last year, but that’s a pretty HOT intro! :tu Where’s tha music change in tha chorus? C’mon… Tha beginning was HOT, so why couldn’t it continue? Sounds more on tha Pop side here, which I was hoping for more Dance. Vocals and lyrics are catchy here, but if this was really 130 BPM, I would feel speed, right?? I like tha “you know, it betta not be about ME” part after tha bridge; catchy part right there. :tu I feel like tha MCD mix iz more Dance, lol. Who would’ve thought? My Rating: 3.8

21. Kate Ryan “Ella Elle L’a (English Radio Edit)”
Heard it once before. Now, Next Plateau wants ta take tha crown over Robbins fa this one! DYIN’ ta rehear it!!!!! >>> Now that intro iz DEFINITELY anticipatin’ wit her vocals! :) …And that beat iz DEFINITELY on tha TOP wit production!! Catchy Spanish here, includin’ tha English!! REAL TIGHT!!! :tu DEFINITELY nice vocals, beat arrangement, and err-thang!! :tu Everytime I hear a part of this song, I don’t know where tha beat iz gonna go next! DEFINITELY sum thumbs up type shit here!! :tu My Rating: 4.5

22. Na’Shay “Lovin’ You (Mike D Radio Bass Mix)”
Ruthless label, new female, and new song. Not really anticipated for tha remixer… He made tha Chris Brown/Keri Hilson song look like it was gonna be FAST Dance music when it was just an ultimix. Who knows what ta expect… >>> I recognize that sample in tha beginning as it’s tha black female that died of cancer, who influenced Mariah Carey & Christina Aguilera’s voice. Anyway, they sound like innocent vocals, BUT… like I said about tha Chris Brown/Keri Hilson song, this just sounds like an ULTIMIX; FAKE 130 BPM! :td I bet if I heard tha original, it’s prolly 65 BPM ‘cause Ultimixes, when it comes to slow songs, just double tha BPM… I can’t really get inta this, and MCD BETTA NOT get this!! They have ENOUGH non-Dance songs already!! Pretty good vocals, as they’re nice and sweet, but not a Dance song! Not a good ending too… My Rating: 2.9

Overall: It turned out ta be a DEFINITELY INTERESTING PO this time!! There were only a few fuck ups, but overall, DEFINITELY proved some gr8 shit, ESPECIALLY in tha beginning wit #’s 3 & 6 (not Three 6, lol)! Plus, I was right about 13-16 bein’ REAL GOOD! It no less was STRETCHED, as it was 12-17 that was REAL good!! Glad this edition impressed me, although how will Dance stations choose from this CD?
