Review #1,338: Promo Only: Dance Radio December 2013

Reviewed on 11.19.2013 (Review #1,338)

Here goes my review for Promo Only: Dance Radio December 2013! Start Time: 8:19 PM | End Time: 10:38 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

© 2013 CD Review (Review #1,338) reviewed on 11.19.2013 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. Kaskade & Project 46 “Last Chance”
A new Ultra release that MCD just got. Lemme give it its review… >>> A nice, true-to-form vocal section, here, and it sounds nice and sweet. Kinda has a VT feel to it, whoever’s doin’ these vocals! Music’s not bad; kinda on a typical dance basis, but it’s not bad. My Rating: 4.0

02. Katy Perry “Unconditionally (Country Club Martini Crew Radio Edit)”
Capitol Records. Not much of an AL, but I got an AL on tha mix, since I liked their remix to Christina Aguilera’s “Your Body” last year! >>> A slow start, so far; where are tha beats?? Hearin’ some good vocals on tha chorus, but still, no beats? Some AL comin’ outta 1:17; let’s see what happens when tha beat drops… Ehh, nothing special. Hate to see this be kind of a waste, but overall, how weird that I like tha vocals better than tha beats… :? My Rating: 3.5

03. Ferry Corsten Feat. Jenny Wahlström “Many Ways”
Wow, goin’ with tha Jes-like Black Hole Recordings label for this release, unlike tha tons of Ultra releases, since back in tha day! MCD got, and I know what I’m gonna say. So, lemme play it and see what I got ta say! >>> Just like with Katy Perry, I like tha vocals better than tha music, here. It sounds great, but I think it needs a lil’ more elements in tha beats. Hearin’ it now, and it sounds a lil’ better than my first few listens… My Rating: 4.2

04. Avicii Feat. Dan Tyminski “Hey Brother”
I had a feelin’ this Island / IDJMG release was #4 on here, for some reason… Ugh! I’m not even gonna bother! This was what I wanted to ignore instead of falsely-ignoring “You Make Me” on tha review! *Skips* I’ll listen to it once on MCD one day, now that they have it, smh! My Rating: 1.0
EDIT: PO didn’t list tha vocalist, so I had to look it up. I see that they’re in their 40’s and also, thank God they’re born on June 20, one day shy of my b-day! Lana Del Rey’s on my b-day, so we gotta keep tha June 21 people great!

05. DVBBS & Borgeous “Tsunami”
ROFL, I had this not too long ago as a Spinnin’ release. But, it has a mainstream release on here as Columbia signed it! Not to mention, if it wasn’t for this song mysteriously sped up to 193 BPM on that Felix Cartal mixshow on MCD (it’s not meant to be sped up, as I looked tha mixshow up online, and saw a regular version), I wouldn’t’ve heard Meital’s “Give Us Back Love”! This song caught my attention! And, as far as this regular, 128 BPM version, I love tha beats, and since tha fast MCD mixshow version, this song has been hilarious to me. LOL, just think of big “tsunami” waves! Tha drop iz killer; gotta luv it, and lol @ it!! My Current Rating: 4.7 (lol)

06. Vice Feat. Mike Taylor “The World Is Our Playground”
A Flight Club release, here… Both P105 & MCD got this, but I’m not really into it. I think it’s just that it’s a male-vocal song… Hearin’ it on here and it’s just a regular dance song… My Rating: 3.1

07. deadmau5 “Suckfest9001”
Now, also instead of Ultra, an Astralwerks release, here. Not really interested… >>> Sounds like a regular IDS song. I prolly wouldn’t’ve gotten it if it wasn’t for bein’ on here. Like, P105 got it, but I ignored it ‘til it was on here (laziness). At 1:21, tha elements kicked in, and it sounds great!! My Rating: 4.1

08. Showtek Feat. We Are Loud & Sonny Wilson “Booyah”
ROFL @ tha label! Again, I thought it was a complete Spinnin’ release (since that’s where I got it from), but it’s a Polygram / Interscope Records release. I can see why it’s got a mainstream label. I got this a lil’ over a month ago, thanx to P105 gettin’ it, and it’s good, but I’m not too crazy about tha vocals. Cool that they’re Jamaican, but things could’ve been done a lil’ better… Either way, it’s still a nice track, but seems like my least-favorite outta tha four Showtek songs that came out: “Cannonball”, “Hey!”, “Slow Down” & this. But, gotta luv tha drop! Also, didn’t realize ‘til recent that tha title was right before tha drop, lol! Also, feelin’ tha DnB-like vibe on tha 2nd verse! My Current Rating: 4.4

09. Celine Dion “Loved Me Back To Life (Jump Smokers Radio Edit)”
High AL for tha return of CD (“CD,” lol – which, I heard that Sia was behind tha writing of her new music), but not really anticipatin’ tha mix. Let’s see what happens… >>> Actually, not too bad. Gotta feel tha vocals, and tha beats are somewhat-good on tha chorus. Either way, somethin’ feels watered-down. I guess it’s tha pace of tha vocals…? I hope there’s better mixes out there… Then again, I feel a lil’ bit of humor comin’ outta those repetitive title parts, lol! My Rating: 3.7

10. Morgan Page & Michael S “Against The World”
Nettwerk Music Group keepin’ them MP releases comin’… Kinda was tired of tha Audien/MS song, “Leaving You”, from earlier this year, since MCD beasted it. But, I know this’ll be better than “Your Love”, lol! >>> A nice start, here. LOL @ tha content warning and MS tryna say, “Tryna start shit,” lol! Tha drop iz pretty nice; I think I like it tha same as I did “Leaving You”, when I liked that song. My Rating: 4.0

½time: Off to a decent start; glad there’s good songs on here. Just tha “Hey Brother” got in tha way, but other than that, a 3.7 for tha CD rating…

11. Daddy’s Groove Feat. Mindshake “Surrender”
Now, Ultra on tha signing. Pretty scared to hear this (lol), but in a good way. Just scared of DG, after that April 11 incident that happened, where I was crying and gettin’ screamed at, due to tha power of dance music. Oh, spooky to know that this iz track #11; ironic?! One thing I’m not sure if I mentioned ever, but you know how people have “beer-balls”? Well, when hearin’ certain dance music that’s tight, I feel like I have “beer-balls” to people that ignore me/are guilty of not respectin’ me. I act outspoken and shit! LOL, and that’s what “Stellar” did. But, let’s get into this! >>> Feelin’ tha start; sounds so innocent, compared to tha “Stellar”. Feelin’ tha build-up at :53! Nice chorus!! Nice drop, too! Tha “oh-oh-oh-oh”s make me think of “Stellar”; we could have anotha anthem, without all tha screamin’ and cryin’ goin’ on, lol, since I’ve been pretty happy! My Rating: 4.6

12. Savannah Lynx “Colors”
Looks real sexy on tha ID, here!! Really lookin’ forward to this!! Trauma2 label on tha signing; glad there’s some unknown labels on this CD!! >>> Wow, feelin’ tha start wit tha vocals and I hope tha beat shows off!! Sounds like it’s showin’ off on tha chorus!! Real-GREAT 2nd ½, so far!! Lovin’ tha drop, here!! Gotta luv how her last name rhymes with a Sphinx! That seems like tha royal certification! Definitely feelin’ this!! Surpassed tha “Tsunami” rating for me, surprisingly! My Rating: 4.8

13. Shermanology Feat. Amba Shepherd “Who We Are”
Before I get to hearin’ this, there’s some irony: Someone made an interesting YT comment that Spinnin’ just released this “Who We Are” as well as tha DS & AV one, from tha last PO; ironic? LOL? No less, this iz a Spinnin’ song, too, and I have a High AL for it!! You know I anticipate “S-to-tha-ology” <- didn’t feel like writing it out just now, lol! Also, AS on tha vocals!! >>> Wow, didn’t expect this to be as good as I thought it was!! I guess ‘cause AS’ on tha vocals, S-ology (lol)’s doin’ tha production, and it sounds tight!! Great vocals and huge chorus parts/drops!! Wow, lol, another surprise with tha 2nd verse: Tha female from Shermanology!! Wow, great combination!!! Makes me wanna lose my equipment again, lol!! Me losing my equipment in 2012 with “Can’t Stop Me” playing on my iPod was better than this WHOLE year!! Who would’ve thought, after I thought it was all cursed?! Breakin’ tha tie-breaker, as I like this more than tha Savannah song!!! My Rating: 4.9

14. VenSun Feat. David Vendetta & Sylvia Tosun “The Dragon Flies”
Wow, all three of them have a new song already? I didn’t even get to add tha previous one, yet, from tha October CD. Of course, ST’s SeaToSun Recordings on tha signing! I’m anticipatin’ this title; let’s see if we can keep tha obsessive ratings goin’!! >>> Sounds like tha vocals are better on this song than tha previous VS/DV/ST release. I remember tha music was addictin’ on tha previous one. Nice music here, but it’s almost plain. So, it’s almost like 50/50, but I think I like tha other song better. My Rating: 4.2

15. Alex Kunnari & Heikki L Feat. Joel Madden “City Of Sin”
Looks like it gon be a good Ultra song… Got one of tha DJs from “Deep At Night” on here (3/08 PO – Ercola & Heikki L Feat. Jeremy Carr); should be good! >>> So far, great start! Sounds much better than “The World Is Our Playground” for a male-vocal song, lol! Wow @ tha chorus; feelin’ tha energy between tha vocals and beats!!! Drop was almost sour, but it kept some tight beats… Wow, much better drop after tha 2nd chorus!! My Rating: 4.6

16. Papercha$er Feat. Corey Hart “Night Visions (Sunglasses)”
Movement (?) & Warner Bros. on tha signing. Well, I was anticipatin’ this ‘til I saw tha vocalist and title. Oh, time to “wear my sunglasses at night!” >>> Well, not as bad as I thought for tha beginning. Sounds like tha original vocalist redid tha vocals, and they’re not bad… LOL @ tha chorus; redone, feelin’ like tha early ‘80s. Also, hot beatz!! Feelin’ tha drop!! My Rating: 4.3

17. Fall Out Boy Feat. Krewella “Alone Together (Krewella Edit)”
An Island / IDJMG release… Uh, not sure what to expect… If it’s 87 BPM, it might transform and double to 174, makin’ it DnB. If so, then things’ll turn out good. If not, then this’ll be bad. >>> Yes, it’s on a 174 BPM start, and it sounds like Krewella joins FOB here!! I seem excited; sounds pretty good! Wow, feelin’ tha Krewella parts; I believe that’s them on tha verses (not listed)? I gotta check and make sure so I know who to put in tha ID! It’s like a good tease! So glad this whole track’s on a 174 BPM level and not on tha Sub Focus, ½-of-it-bein’-87-BPM-type! My Rating: 4.3
EDIT: Google says it does feature Krewella.

18. Topher Jones Feat. Katie Sky “Talk About It”
High AL on tha new TJ song, signed with Ultra! Too bad PO missed out on tha previous release (“Brohammer”). That was a ½ IDS song that was nice! >>> Started off pretty quick… Nice chorus; pretty hot beats, here! This iz just based on tha drop and tha chorus… Pretty nice, overall! My Rating: 4.3

19. Salvador Santana “Rise Up (Suraci Radio Edit)”
Not sure about tha signing bein’ just Various as tha name. However, Suraci’s on tha mix, so maybe, some AL… Not sure about this artist’s name, though… >>> Oh, it’s a chick. Almost sounds like Pitbull in tha background? Oh, straight to rappin’ with a dude, here… Not bad; they kept tha rappin’ short, so this might qualify to be good… More rappin’ comin’ outta tha 2nd verse… Ehh, not bad; sounds like an anthem, here, with no negativity… My Rating: 4.2
EDIT: Looks like it’s considered a band, as I couldn’t find who tha girl iz. Funny how this Santana’s tha son of Carlos Santana. LOL, looks like he gave birth to a soon-to-be Miley Cyrus rapper, lol?

20. Flux Pavilion “I Can’t Stop”
MCE had this for a lil’ bit and now, I guess ‘cause it’s on here, MCD just got it. I dunno why MCD would play it… Circus / Big Beat / Atlantic on tha labels, here. I have to admit, I think DS iz dead, as far as my interest. There hasn’t been a great DS song that I’ve played since tha 8/12 CD, where there was two: “Blast Off” & “When The Rain Is Gone”. Anyway, as far as this song, it sounds good as if it was at an event or somethin’, but not really a playlist song that I’d catch on, since DS iz fallin’ off for me… Also, sometimes, when I think of this, kinda like with certain mainstream rap music, I feel like this iz on a teenager level. I was gonna use tha term, “white-boy music,” but since most dance peeps are white, I guess “teenager” iz tha term to use. My Rating: 3.4

21. Skream Feat. Sam Frank “Roller Coaster”
What a way to end this year; tha title says it all. Casablanca on tha label, here. MCD got, and again, I don’t know why. I thought this was a DS artist, but it’s boring dance music… Vocals are gayer than ever! My Rating: 1.8

Overall: I thought this CD was excellent, for most of tha songs bein’ on mainstream dance labels!! Wow, really felt tha 2nd ½ a whole lot!! Some of tha songs like tha Sherm/Amba collab are already on P105, so it looks like this CD gon have a legacy/be a classic for me!
