Review #1,425: Promo Only: Dance Radio February 2015

Reviewed on 1.24.2015 (Review #1,425)

Seems like it was just yesterday! Now, I just got this in tha mail and I finna review it: Promo Only: Dance Radio February 2015! Good news & bad news: My phone just got fucked up & keeps restarting/not stayin’ on. Anyway, as that sux, I’m high right now, reviewin’ this PO!! Can’t wait!! Also, I didn’t even look at tha tracklisting!! Start Time: 6:39 PM | End Time: 8:05 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. Hardwell feat. Harrison “Sally”
Hmm, I had no idea what to think when I saw this title, outta nowhere… Ultra on tha label, let’s see what this be ‘bout! >>> Thought it was gon be rock vocals, but it sounds pretty good and catchy… A lil’ different with these male vocals, compared to a Matthew Koma or somethin’… LOL, iz this ‘pose to be a “fuckin’”-like song? Cleaned, it says, “I was freakin’ Sally…” Anyway, WHOOOOO!!! Holy shit!!! Tha climax and drop came outta nowhere; sounds like two different songs!!!!!!!! Fuckin’ love it in this high!! Feels like a light’s shinin’ right at me, vibratin’ me and shit! My Rating: 4.6

02. Clean Bandit feat. Jess Glynne “Real Love”
Speakin’ of highs, this gained spins with me bein’ high in NY. I keep fluctuating with keepin’ this song or not, for 2015… Anyway, Big Beat & Atlantic Records on tha label and I’m actually glad that it’s on here! Thought it would’ve been on tha December one or somethin’, but this iz still good timing. I think this song’s way better than their previous single, “Rather Be.” Either way, neva knew that song was gonna be huge! This should get out there, too! Luv tha vocals better than tha last song and tha music’s better/hot! Glad to be creatin’ so many moments, and this song makes me feel good, right now! My Current Rating: 4.4

03. Michael Calfan “Prelude”
Spinnin’ on tha label and with an ID like this, IT’S INSTRUMENTAL DANCE SONG TIME, HOPEFULLY!!!!!!!!! >>> Likin’ this! Nice lil’ beginning beat to hype things up, and then, dubbed vocals on tha lil’ chorus part… A decent lil’ drop and it’s soundin’ nice, either way… Overall, I’m diggin’ it… Because of tha high, I seem happier than a typical day, when likin’ a song better… My Rating: 4.3

04. The Ting Tings “Wrong Club (Tom Stephan Radio)”
This looks like it gon be dark and scary, or somethin’… An Music Choice Electronica DJ (from a while ago) on tha mix, with Pias Recordings & RED Distribution on tha label; glad they’re back! >>> LOL @ them in “tha wrong club” and tha “music iz shit,” or whateva; nice! Likin’ how it sounds while tha 1st verse plays… I’ono, it sounds catchy; tha girl of TTT sounds a lil’ younger or more-grown, here; clubtacular! My Rating: 4.2

05. Cazzette feat. Terri B! “Blind Heart (Didrick Remix Radio Edit)”
Label: ICONS & PRMD… Not really feelin’ tha original version; it’s way too slow and boring. Let’s see what this remix brings… >>> Okay, a lil’ more better attempt at a dance sound… Tha music sounds kinda boring, here, like a regular hit-mixed song or somethin’. Tha drop’s just a drop better, I guess… By not even tha 2nd chorus, it seems like this got kinda boring fa me, overall… My Rating: 3.5

06. Selena Gomez “The Heart Wants What It Wants (Dave Audé Radio Remix)”
Not lookin’ at tha ID; let’s hope it’s a new song!! *Listens…* Oh, ROFL, this song! Oh, I feel like it kills me, but I got ahead of 2014 and now, it’s 2015! Tha lyrics really describe how that friend, Tyler, just left my life, from last summer! Oh, this song kills me! Tha fact that someone could just leave your life for somethin’ so stupid, your “heart” keeps fighting to believe in yourself, but you fail; ugh!! Some of tha sounds from tha original version, and it sounds like it got a boost; needed a remix! Really felt moved by tha original, so it’s good to hear this! Think I caught it on a Party 105 mixshow while on Long Island, too… Just that alone made me think it was comin’ to a PO sooner or later, lol! Anyway, Hollywood Records, as always. My Rating: 4.7

07. SNBRN feat. Kerli “Raindrops”
Off tha Ultra label, here… Looks familiar; not sure what this exactly gon sound like… >>> Sounds like a nice start; hearin’ Kerli now reminds me of goin’ to tha abandoned Kings Park Psychiatric Center on Long Island (‘cause I put “Zero Gravity” on a special video countdown I’m in tha works of making, at tha psychiatric center)! Anyway, a lil’ slow, here; catchy vocals, but tha music needs to be better… Tha drop’s kinda dry and weak for me, here. It’s tryna be influenced by tha ‘90s, a lil’, but it would’ve sounded better if it was a complete rip-off of a ‘90s beat or somethin’, lol! My Rating: 3.1

08. Fox Stevenson “Sweets (Soda Pop)”
This either gon be real weird or real good, too! Spinnin’ signed it; what should I anticipate? >>> I dunno, but I’m really diggin’ tha unique music in tha beginning! Oh, as soon as tha intro length surpassed, it made me think this was gon be an instrumental dance song, and it iz! Wow, I was right with tha preview: Sounds real good and it’s weird, too! LOL, I thought “soda” was gon “pop,” or somethin’, but it’s a bunch of different kinda sounds! I have a feelin’ a bunch of these songs are gonna do real good with me ‘cause of this high, spring comin’ and more! It’s like a defining moment here; made sure I did this review high b4 checkin’ to get my phone fixed! LOL @ tha ending! And, this was under three minutes? Wow, seemed so long!! Time goes by so slow while you’re high!! My Rating: 4.5

09. Olly Murs feat. Travie McCoy “Wrapped Up (Westfunk Radio Mix)”
A random hit-mixed song, here, with Columbia Records… >>> Not off to a good start, here; kinda cheesy with tha vocals… Music durin’ tha chorus’ nice, though it’s still cheesy for me… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and because of this high and great moments, I feel like this whole entire PO gon be really remembered for me when tha year ends. Like, I guess it’s this moment? I think this song might be a lasting one durin’ tha year? Like, Music Choice Dance, etc.…? Ooh, Travie sounds pretty good on his part, here; catchy lyrics, too… LOL, I’m surprised for such a cheesy song! My Rating: 3.3

10. Knife Party “Begin Again”
Earstorm, Big Beat & Atlantic on tha label. MCD has it, and it’s okay. More on tha dance side for KP… Likin’ tha music at times and tha vocals are decent/catchy for a male-vocal song. Almost sounds like a darker version of BT on tha vocals… And, I guess ‘cause of tha high, tha 2nd ½ of tha song sounds better with tha music, after tha 1st chorus… My Current Rating: 3.8

½time: A nice CD, so far!! Only a 4.0 for tha CD rating, but this gon go down in history for me as nice and memorable!!

11. Lady Bee feat. Rochelle “Return Of The Mack (Oliver Heldens Remix Edit)”
Aight, lemme try this again with not lookin’ at tha song. If I knew tha previous, okay song, this next one gotta be HUGE & unknown!! *Listens* Sounds like Oliver Heldens or somethin’ slow/plain… Now, it almost sounds like “Real Love?” I think I might know this? Oh, tha lyrics sound familiar! Mack Morrison “Return Of The Mack,” from tha ‘90s… Wonder what this version iz? *Checks ID* I was right about tha mix, lol, and it’s Spinnin’! Interestin’ collab with tha “Shotgun” vocalist on here! Either way, I dunno about a cover comin’ outta nowhere…? I’m actually diggin’ it ‘cause surprisingly, OH and that “Last All Night (Koala)” song with KStewart keeps gettin’ spins and bein’ there for my memories with me! Vocals are good; at least they’re tha opposite gender, lol. My Rating: 3.7

12. Jennifer Hudson feat. R. Kelly “It’s Your World (Sandy Rivera Radio Remix)”
Back with tha house producer on tha remix… Don’t think I gon anticipate this hit-mixed song, signed with RCA… >>> Sounds like it gon be soul house, here… Nice and sleepy/soul-house-y, but I’m not diggin’ JH… Also, Kellz on tha feature? Not diggin’ him even more! Boring toward tha 2nd ½ of tha song; at least its boringness iz gettin’ me more in tha zone while high, lol… My Rating: 2.5

13. Chocolate Puma & Firebeatz “I Can’t Understand”
Yes, anotha Spinnin’ song!! I’m anticipated fa this one ‘cause of tha DJs & producers, here!!! >>> Different sound of house for tha start than I expected… Hearin’ tha chorus and it’s pretty good for a house song; diggin’ tha beats a lil’ bit… Seems like it takes me back to bein’ in tha early 2000s, especially with CP as one of tha artists (“I Wanna Be U”)… Tha drop sounds nice, too; I thought I’ve heard this on MCD or somethin’ durin’ their mixshows… Gotta luv when tha drops seem addictive, with their continuous vibes! Ahh, nice and zoned out!! My Rating: 4.3

14. Kissy Sell Out feat. Angie Brown “Deeper In Love”
I think this gon be on tha soul-house tip, like I explained in tha other song (#12). Anyway, Carrillo on tha label! >>> At :16, that, “Ugh,” got me in tha mood that this gon sound like that house I expected it to sound like… Yeah, this what I expected; almost sounds like Shawnee Taylor on tha vocals… Ooh @ tha ‘90s-inspired beats at :47! Feelin’ tha drop for a soulful house song like this; nice! As this continues to go on, I’m feelin’ tha music more, such as 1:40 and on!! Sounds better than them ol’ deep house songs that are all over tha mainstream… My Rating: 4.2

15. Axwell /\ Ingrosso “Something New (Robin Schulz Radio Mix)”
Ooh, and look: Somewhere on tha PO had to be a Robin!! That’s a person I smoke with’s name!! And, this bein’ a repeat song, I dunno if this 120 (from 130) BPM’ll do, here, for a remix… >>> Beginning sounds like somethin’ RS would do; interesting, though watered-down… Even more house-y than tha original version… LOL, this CD’s fulla house jointz, and it’s not really deep house ones! Oh, they kept tha 1st verse, though at :50… Oh, such a slow mix, but sounds nice slowed down, while high; feels like it’s r…e…a…l…l…y…s…l…o…w…, lol! My Rating: 4.0

16. Mary J. Blige “Right Now (Manufactured Superstars Radio)”
Thought I was seein’ somethin’ new and unique with tha mix, but now, I see it’s a repeat song from tha last PO… I also think this tha MCD mix… Either way, no interest; rather have tha Basement Jaxx mix with different beats. An okay drop, though dry for this remix… My Rating: 2.2

17. Marcos Carnaval feat. Olivia Cipolla “Push The Feeling On”
Lemme try anotha blind listen, after those repeat songs… *Listens* Sounds like a random house song; prolly’ll be good/weird/etc.…! *Checks ID* Ooh @ tha Romanian beats—oh wait, that’s “Push The Feeling On”’s beat… Didn’t think it’d be a rip-off, but it’s funny how I mentioned tha ‘90s not too long ago, with this review! Anyway, sounds pretty hot, despite bein’ a dance cover! Tommy Boy in tha buildin’! Oh yeah, tha lyrics are tha 2004 “Push The Feeling On,” here; I remember when MCD beasted that version, lol! LOL @ tha chorus; didn’t exactly recognize it as a dance cover in tha beginning of it! I thought it was, “Do-de-de-lives again…,” lol! Between tha opposite-gender vocals and tha Romanian-soundin’ beat sounds, I thought this was great for a cover! My Rating: 4.2

18. Damien Jurado “Ohio (Filous Remix)”
Only 121 BPM? Ultra, here…; looks familiar… >>> Really weak start with tha bluegrass-soundin’ music? Ugh and it sounds like they’re rippin’ off Robin Schulz with tha way this sounds… Oh, a harmonica!! *Sarcastic voice* Ooh, a harmonica!! Ooh, time to shuffle! Here are tha vocals at :48 and wow, country/bluegrass at its finest! Yuck…! It’s like an Avicii-vocal song vs. Robin Schulz on tha mix; that’s what I consider this! Wow, this iz so bad; too bad it had to appear on this PO! It’s almost like it’s tryna kill my high! My Rating: 1.0

EDIT: “Filous” iz how you spell tha remixer’s name; y’all had an extra “I” in tha name…

19. 2NE1 “I Am The Best”
Looks real anticipatin’, thanx to it lookin’ like AN21 on tha ID! However, Capitol Records on tha label; might be a pop song! >>> Sounds like a dark club song… Ooh @ tha random, indistinct vocals! Ooh @ tha hook; really sounds like somethin’ you’d listen to while you were high! Very random, between tha music and random vocals! LOL, almost seems like somethin’ my friend keeps tellin’ me: “You tha best; you da bomb! Never change!” Could tha vocals be, like, a female version of “Gangnam Style?” I ain’t think of that, but it does remind me of it a lil’… Luv how there’s a female ta do tha job now, lol! I can’t believe I thought this was gon be some cheesy, English, non-dance-soundin’ pop song! Ooh @ 2:38, too; oh, gotta luv life right now!! Only $1.79ish for gas!! My Rating: 4.1

EDIT: Luv how on their YouTube, it’s from 2011! Guess tha U.S.’s SO behind, lol?

20. Madeon feat. Kyan “You’re On (Oliver Edit)”
Wonder who this Oliver iz? Anyway, Columbia on tha label… Hmm, only 100 BPM? Don’t think it’ll be like “The City,” or even close… >>> Crazy start? Don’t tell me he’s goin’ for 200 BPM & PO cut it in ½? Oh, shit, naw, it’s only 100… Tha vocals sound like some ‘90s R&B that would be in a Notorious B.I.G. song or somethin’, lol… There’s a 1st verse and it sounds pretty nice, despite its slowness… I do like that tha chorus’ lyrics sound like a battle! “Tell me which side you’re on!” My Rating: 3.4

21. Pitbull feat. Ne-Yo “Time Of Our Lives (Doobious Trap Remix)”
I was hopin’ we’d end this PO with a huge instrumental dance song, but I don’t think that’ll ever happen… Anyway, here comes Pit & a trap remix! Mr. 305, Polo Grounds & RCA tha label; oh, God! >>> Just a trap remix; don’t need to say any more… And, Pit randomly comin’ in; whateva… Too bad this PO went downhill toward tha end… My Rating: 2.4

Overall: Though a really memorable PO for me, I wish there weren’t tha hit-mixed songs and maybe, a few more huge instrumental dance songs! Too bad tha ending of this CD got sour, but for tha most part, I’m glad there’s tha bangerz! So glad I got to review a PO while high and it was definitely worth tha anticipation, especially not lookin’ at tha tracklist!!
