Review #1,852: Promo Only: Dance Radio December 2019

Reviewed on 11.13.2019 & 11.14.2019 (Review #1,852)

Excited to see what we got for Promo Only: Dance Radio December 2019…! However, this past month hasn’t been too sweet… I got hit with a legal issue, from earlier in tha year & now, I’m on work release for a month; rough! It’s been hard to keep up with adds but luckily, I can get out three times, for an hour each time. I swear, PO, I’m ready to move to Florida, in tha next few years! I’ll still be keepin’ up with every1 up here, tho, via tha Internet… Since it’s rough, I at least have my full-time job, on top of this. I have to split this review up into two dayz, so I’ll try & get to tha 1st ½, b4 I go to tha full-time job… Didn’t even get to look at tha tracklist, due to everything goin’ on; I’m ready for a surprise…! Start Time: 11.13.2019 @ 7:29 PM | End Time: 11.14.2019 @ 7:47 PM

Disclaimer: I type how I wanna type (frequent use of “tha” instead of “the,” “iz” instead of “is,” “a”-ending words instead of “er,” and a few others). I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it, I like it how I wanna like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. Sometimes, I may not rate a song too high on its first listen, but in tha future, I could be playin’ it more than a higher-rated song…

01. Galantis & Dolly Parton feat. Mr. Probz “Faith”
Label: Big Beat/EMG
Looks like an interestin’ collab, tho I don’t think I got a great feel off of hearin’ it… >>> Even tho I wasn’t really big about Probz, I do think he sounds a lil’ better on this… Beats are kinda slow/dry, for Galantis… Tha chorus sounds good; should be a lil’ bit of a big song? Likin’ that Dolly Parton’s on this; I’ll give this an okay amount of props… I’ll rate it tha same as “Holy Water”, shockingly… My Rating: 3.8

02. Young Bombs feat. Aloe Blacc “Better Day”
Label: Astralwerks/Capitol
Didn’t get their follow-up to “Don’t Let Them” (“Loyal”, on Music Choice Dance). Now, we got this… >>> Sounds like it’s gonna be a good collab; nice lil’ start. Kinda sounds like it blends in nicely with “Faith”; nice chorus…! I even feel a Galantis-kinda vibe with those background vocals, too… Again, wasn’t tha biggest about Aloe Blacc but this sounds better than a typical collab of his… Lol, just like with “Holy Water”/“Faith”, I think I’m rating this tha same as “Never Growing Up”…! My Rating: 4.0

03. Lucas & Steve feat. Haris “Perfect”
Label: Spinnin’
Still stickin’ with tha 118 & 119 BPM, so far… Lookin’ forward ta this collab, especially since Haris was previously featured on Ferry Corsten’s hot track from tha 6/15 PO (“Back To Paradise”)! >>> Beginning beats slightly sound like it samples “Take On Me”? Good lil’ sound, so far, as well as what Haris brings to tha L&S boyz… Yeah, this a take on “Take On Me”; definitely likin’ this for a beat sample! Just like last month’s PO with “Turn Me On” with tha “Don’t Go” sample; definitely nice…! My Rating: 4.4 (lol, same rating as “Turn Me On”! Triple threat!!)

04. Martin Garrix & Dean Lewis “Used To Love”
Label: RCA
Anotha 119er? This iz an odd way to start tha CD off but I guess we’re slowly gettin’ back in tha groove, just like how I am, with life… Nobody really played “Home” or “These Are The Times”, from tha previous POs. Now, let’s see what we got, here… >>> Anotha slow/male start from Mr. Garrix; kinda likin’ this one more than tha previous songs of his… Great lil’ chorus and tha drop’s pretty nice; I feel tha “Scared To Be Lonely”ness, with a faster-than-future-bass-but-slower-than-regular-dance-music vibe…! My Rating: 4.3

05. Xanti, Tim Bell & Elenoir “Queen Of Love”
Label: Enhanced/Casablanca/Republic
Likin’ that there’s all these new tracks…! Then again, I’ve been a mysterious mess since October 23, so most of these tracks’ll seem like I neva heard or seem ‘em, b4… >>> Sounds like an anticipatin’ start; feelin’ these vocals and slow dance beats…! Also, likin’ tha chorus and that drop’s pretty dope wit tha sounds! Must mean December’s gonna be good—oh yeah, I get off work release December 13! No wonder why tha ratings seem better than usual, lol? See, with a good portion of tha previous POs, tha ratings weren’t too on-n-poppin’, as I knew somethin’ dark was gonna happen to me. Too bad tha darkness seemed harder for my consistency but I’m buildin’ my strength through this challenge… My Rating: 4.5

06. Famba feat. Kyra Mastro “Storm”
Label: Sony Canada
Well, tha last edition, we had an import from Sony & now, we got anotha one! Lookin’ forward ta this new one, as well…! >>> Sounds like anotha good lil’ female-vocal dance track… Good lil’ chorus and decent climax; drop’s a lil’ dry, tho. How about, if she feels “it,” maybe, some thunder sounds in tha drop, lol? Well, a nice lil’ sound durin’ tha 2nd ½ of tha drop, so I’ll give it some props… We’ll see how this one grows/does with me, in tha future. Glad I can listen to music durin’ my full-time job, as well…! My Rating: 3.9

07. ZHU & partywithray “Came For The Low”
Label: Astralwerks/Capitol
Looks like an interestin’ title, here… >>> Sounds like a lil’ slow/creepy start… Sounds cool, somewhat; at tha same time, it ain’t tha best dance track for me… Really quiet at 1:13 and then, tha ass-bouncin’ “low” part…! Beats sound better at 2:27 but for tha most part, kinda weird for me… My Rating: 3.1

08. Mahalo x Disco Killerz feat. Brandyn Burnette “Tongue Tied”
Label: Enhanced
Lookin’ forward ta this collab…! >>> Sounds like a good lil’ start; nice lil’ beats/1st verse… Sounds like a catchy chorus; definitely nice, overall! Great lil’ triple collab! Liked Brandyn on tha Elephante “Plans” track, from 1/17’s PO; now, he’s back…! Nice lil’ 2nd verse, too; sounds like I want more from this track, so I’ll be down ta hear it a lot…! My Rating: 4.5

09. TCTS feat. Maya B “Not Ready For Love”
Label: Astralwerks/Capitol
This looks like it’ll be anotha good one! Leggo…! >>> Diggin’ tha deep house-soundin’ start/beats, as well as these female vocals…! Likin’ how tha music picked up durin’ tha chorus! No room for plain vibes, here…! Great job with tha verses, once again; glad there’s no room for disappointment on this CD! Even if “Came For The Low” has tha lowest score, it’s not a two-point-somethin’/one-point-somethin’…! My Rating: 4.4

10. PNAU feat. Ollie Gabriel “All Of Us”
Label: etcetc
Lookin’ forward to tha new PNAU song/collab. Started to feel tha “Solid Gold” one more, despite its 1st listen. Now, let’s see what we got, here, with this male… >>> Sounds like an okay start but I think it’ll be good… Not too bad, so far; I expect a lotta interestin’ beats with PNAU’s tracks. This one sounds a lil’ dry/deep house-y, so I’ono… Tha chorus a lil’ better with some sounds goin’ on, here; a touch of props… I like tha lil’ breakdown, after tha 1st chorus; good job, once again… Overall, might have to grow on me; just a decent one, like “Solid Gold”… My Rating: 3.5

½time: I still have time for a few more tracks…! This way, I’ll have enough time to do tha overall & rankings part, as well as email this to you guys… A 4.0-rated CD, so far; every song iz a new one! Gotta luv it! Definitely worth it, so far! Can’t wait to get back to tha good life…!

11. Rony Rex feat. Carla Monroe “Milk It”
Label: Robbins
Looks like it’ll be a pretty hot one, courtesy of Robbins! Glad to hear Carla, once again…! >>> More on a rap-dance sound, here? Beats ain’t too bad but they go good with Carla’s rhymes. Strange lil’ tune, as well as tha milkin’ goin’ on, durin’ tha chorus… I’ll give this one its props; I’ono how it’ll do in tha dance world, tho. I don’t think it’s gonna get out there…? We’ll see if this one grows on me, in tha future… My Rating: 3.6

12. Sigala feat. Ella Henderson “We Got Love”
Label: Arista
Gotta go to tha full-time job, after this one… Looks like it’ll be a good lil’ new one! Didn’t get to appreciate “Wish You Well” too much; times were gettin’ to me… >>> Sounds like a nice lil’ start; of course, feelin’ Sigal’s beats, as always…! Nice lil’ collab with this new Ella vs. Ella Eyre; both sound great. Tha chorus iz pretty nice, too; nice lil’ drop, too. Sounds like it’s upliftin’ me to appreciate life more, once I get done with this mess I’m in…! Great job with this collab; lookin’ forward to playin’ all of these tracks…! My Rating: 4.4

Intermission: I have to go; be back tomorrow…! *Takes break at 8:07 PM…* *Returns at 7:19 PM on 11.14.2019…* Glad to be back!

13. Meduza x Becky Hill x Goodboys “Lose Control”
Label: Astralwerks/Capitol
That strange moment where I ain’t look at tha tracklist & yesterday, I accidentally heard a ½ second of what was next. Hearing tha typical Meduza sound in tha beginning, I assumed it was this track from MCD; looks like I’m right! Now, for tha full listen/review… >>> Likin’ it a lot more now that I’m hearin’ it in its entirety…! Luv how Becky starts it off (actually, likin’ it more than “Wish You Well”’s vocals) & then, tha Goodboys deliver their catchiness, just like “Piece Of Your Heart”! Short & sweet, tha way they all know how to do it! Also, even had tha previous Meduza remix of Ritual & Emily Warren’s song grow on me, too! Guess tha good times are here? My Rating: 4.5

14. Sofi Tukker “Like This”
Label: Ultra
They comin’ through with another one…! >>> A faster dance vibe for them, for an original version…; let’s see how this turns out… So far, an okay start with tha music and Sofi’s vocals… Sounds good; not much to say… A good lil’ chorus with tha question, “Like This?” And then, “Like This!” My Rating: 4.0

15. Zookëper “House Phone”
Label: Hysteria/Spinnin’
Tha 1st actual song I know, lol. Also, it’s a surprise that a Hysteria Records song appeared on here (mainly, thanx to Spinnin’)! While I’m still diggin’ tha “Parallel Lines” track, here comes this, as a housetacular bonus! Thought it was okay, at first & then, grew after a few listens/MCD pickin’ it up. Luv how Mr. Këper lays tha beats down, as well as tha personal vibes of needin’ tha “House Phone” to get tha best outta him! My Current Rating: 4.4

16. M-22 feat. Arlissa & Kiana Lede “Eyes Off You”
Label: Casablanca/Republic
Been havin’ tha Arlissa song from tha last PO stuck in my head, at times… Now, we got a collab! >>> Sounds like a good start; feelin’ tha collab, so far. I’ono why, but this sounds better than I expect it to sound, with tha music & Arlissa, so far…! Likin’ tha chorus and tha vibe, here; good shit…! Two chicks inside one track, here, with Kiana doin’ tha 2nd verse; just as good as Lissa! A distorted-vocal bridge, here; lol, short as seven seconds! My Rating: 4.5

17. Chico Rose feat. Afrojack “Sad (Joel Corry Remix)”
Label: Spinnin’
Lol, funny that tha familiar/faster ones are toward tha end of this edition, rather than in tha beginning! Courtesy of XM BPM, here comes this house remake of tha late XXXtentacion! I like tha Joel Corry vibes in tha music, as his “Sorry” track seems to be inescapable…! Likin’ how these vocals make it have a “Sad” vibe, too… My Current Rating: 4.2

18. Braaten & Chrit Leaf “Burn”
Label: Robbins
We get anotha Robbins song, on this edition! Tha other song on here was more hip-hop/dance, so can we have an actual dance vibe, despite tha same BPM of 124? >>> Sounds like an okay male-vocal track, so far… Beats aren’t too bad, durin’ tha chorus. Tha “Burn” part repeatin’ throughout it sounds catchier than tha beats, to me. Beats are kinda dry, as if they wanna sound deep-house… Likin’ that all these tracks are pretty quick; I’ll give this one a plus… My Rating: 4.1

19. Kito & Empress Of “Wild Girl”
Label: Astralwerks/Capitol
I think Empress Of’s an alternative artist? Looks like it could be a good collab wit tha 126 BPM? Let’s see… >>> A slow start, here, with a nice-soundin’ female voice (alternative-soundin’, too)… Hearin’ tha chorus and it sounds like tha way she delivers tha vocals sounds like she’s remakin’ something? Either way, cool; beats aren’t too bad… I’ono about 100% dance in tha sound, as it could sound more for a pop vibe, too? I’ll see how this grows on me, in tha future… My Rating: 3.7

20. Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello “Senorita (NOTD Remix)”
Label: Island/Republic
Here comes this… Finally, a remix was made & I thought it was gonna come when Shawn’s previous song was on here… >>> Not much to say about it; it sounds good with NOTD on tha faster-than-tha-previous-NOTD-song’s beats… Good collab & even better with these faster NOTD beats… My Rating: 3.9

21. Madeon “Be Fine”
Label: Columbia
Endin’ tha year off with a confident title, yet, I’ono how I’ll feel about Madeon… >>> Tha only slower-than-slow song on this edition, too… Not really tha biggest fan of him; really only liked a few songs of his… Don’t wanna hate on this; it’s just an okay song, tho not really up my alley. At least it’s not corny like “All My Friends”. Beats kinda have a dark vibe, durin’ tha drop; vocals are ehh/not bad… I’ll rate it higher than tha ZHU collab, tho. My Rating: 3.2

Overall: Felt this edition a lot! While I would think tha edition would get slower and slower, as it progresses, this one got more exciting! Lots of great excitement throughout it, at least!

Average CD Rating:       4.0

Though no 4.6+’s, I’m diggin’ all tha good ratings, at least! Tough choice for tha #01 spot but I chose “Lose Control” ‘cause I almost gave it a 4.6. Tha four-way tie with tha 4.5’s looks exactly like it did 10 years ago, on tha 9/09 PO’s rankings! Even down to tha total score/songs; off by 1/10 of a point!!
