Review #1,935: Promo Only: Dance Radio July 2020

Reviewed on 6.17.2020 (Review #1,935)

Almost woke up a lil’ on tha later side, from a nap, since my full-timer in a lil’ over two hours. Still workin’ tha full-time from home, which iz nice/gives me enough time fa this review. Let’s see how we can recover, after last month’s remakin’ downhill… This iz Promo Only: Dance Radio July 2020, tha review! I know y’all done moved into a new building & all that, as well as me havin’ a SiriusXM BPM / Diplo’s Revolution / Chill sample of streaming. Shit sounds nice, so I’m familiar wit a good portion of tha songs featured… Start Time: 6:30 PM | End Time: 7:53 PM

Note:
I’m no longer subscribed to tha regular Dance Radio series, as I’m a POOL subscriber, now. I may not have access to back covers, as I only have the front covers…

Disclaimer: I type how I wanna type (frequent use of “tha” instead of “the,” “iz” instead of “is,” “a”-ending words instead of “er,” and a few others). I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it, I like it how I wanna like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. Sometimes, I may not rate a song too high on its first listen, but in tha future, I could be playin’ it more than a higher-rated song…

01. Dzeko feat. Keith Urban “Both Still Young”
Label: Casablanca/Republic
“Higher Ground” tha 1st song prediction…? No preview, just instant gettin’-to…! >>> Crazy how outta all these dayz & dance tracks since tha last review, I still tend to get surprised at a new one bein’ 1st…!! Rush of good luck? I definitely feel it…! For this one, I wasn’t exactly anticipatin’ tha country singer. I literally thought it coulda been tha next Marshmello & “One Thing Right” moment. However, this iz way better!! Vocals sound amazing/blend wit Dzeko hosting thangz, here…! Luv tha house/hint-of-country mix, here, with exciting moments! Nice drop, too; everythang blends in nicely…! Could top da list? We’ll see if a current song has more strength… My Rating: 4.8

02. Martin Garrix feat. John Martin “Higher Ground”
Label: RCA
Lol, here we are… Sounds like a post-quarantined moment? That’s what this sounds like, literally…! My birthday on Saturday & “I…feel alive,” already! Time for Chapter 32; let’s get it! Fa now, definitely great that “MartinMartin” (lol) can continue to feel 100% energized…! That’s how you gotta be…! My Current Rating: 4.5

03. Afrojack x Chico Rose x Jeremih “Cloud 9”
Label: Wall/Spinnin’
Let’s keep it goin’…! >>> This sounds parallel to what I just reviewed (#15, “Gasoline”), between tha pace & what happens when you smoke on that “Cloud 9”, with “Gasoline”! Definitely a nice blend from these three, since tha DJs came from XXX’s [good] remake! Tha chorus sounds pretty good, though tha rest of tha song sounds more excitin’… Great blend & you gotta “be on Cloud 9!” My Rating: 4.7

04. Galantis, Ship Wrek & Pink Sweat$ “Only A Fool”
Label: Big Beat/EMG
This one I think only okay… One of tha ones out there with tha least amount of taste, from me… >>> Sounds good with tha exciting blend, once again. Tha beginning’s quiet vibe kinda would make me think of this bein’ a lil’ not for me. However, it sounds great with tha drop & tha catchiness of tha beat/bridge. That’s tha most it gets from me; not bad… My Rating: 4.0

05. Tiësto feat. ILIRA “Lose You”
Label: Casablanca/Republic
Tha BPM Labor Day time with me got me exposed to one of his mixshow sets, includin’ a bunch of tracks to go with it & knock “Nothing Really Matters” in tha gutter, for me… This sounds much better than that song & it’s here to stay…! Gotta feel a strong vibe for Summer 2K2K (2020)! Glad ILIRA has another collaboratin’ moment, to cross into tha next (this) decade, from last year’s “Fading”! They a great team, here…! My Current Rating: 4.6

06. Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande “Rain On Me”
Label: Republic/Interscope
Kinda seems like a crossover moment for these two to make it on here, courtesy of an original version. However, I’m glad Gaga got tha tastes; really diggin’ her “Alice” track, courtesy of Diplo’s Rev! Glad Gaga knows tha vibes of these DJs…! As far as this one, yeah, it has that older sound to it. Like, tha drop sounds like it reminisces somethin’ popular, from tha past. Cool lil’ collab that I ain’t really pay too-too much attention to but it could be my “hidden spinner,” collectin’ just bonus spins, outside tha playlist? It vs. “Alice”, tho I know “Alice”’ll be way ahead; how ahead, tho? We’ll have to see…! My Current Rating: 4.0

07. Sofi Tukker & Gorgon City “House Arrest”
Label: Ultra
This’ll be only a short time in life, with all this “House Arrest”ness. Though quarantined times, I already experienced this feeling, in tha beginning of tha year. Now, I protect myself from my video works bein’ taken advantage of. Its limited time on me made me wanna experience & appreciate more, durin’ these quarantined times… With this collab, definitely nice; I’m glad these two 2’s got together to collab! Also, I luv that I was throwin’ a prescribed, edible tincture back, while tha song (this radio edit) made a nice, different transition, without tha 2nd “House Arrest” chorus part… Blended in nicely & it’s a great concept fa these quarantined times! Drown me in this track; I don’t mind it takin’ over—it deserves ta take over tha world, lol! Even after tha Rona done…! My Current Rating: 4.8

08. Lucas & Steve “Letters”
Label: Spinnin’
Let’s keep it movin’…! >>> Sounds like a quarantined track, based off tha lyrics… Didn’t really catch on until tha chorus & drop! Definitely a major turn-around, fa me…! Verses sound like a pop vocalist, mixed with an Avicii vocal/turn-around. Either way, definitely great lyrics to throwback, as I threw back, earlier, lol. “Didn’t take your picture,” huh, L&S? I been active wit picture-takin’ since January 3, 2005; gotta keep tha biography/diary/journal goin’, like I always do…! That’s why, I’m finally gettin’ all my old playlists back out there, from April 19, 2004 – March 4, 2012. I’m currently up to tha text part of editing, on tha playlist of August 13, 2011; so much consistent work… Gotta make tha legacy continue, of mine, especially since I originally had them on my old website (where peeps like Sarah Atereth discovered me), MySpace, embedded players & message boards, back in tha day. Now, gotta keep ‘em alive!! My Rating: 4.4

09. Chris Lake “I Remember”
Label: Astralwerks/Capitol
Let’s keep it goin’…! >>> Sounds like somethin’ I woulda heard on one of those mixshows/Sirius outlets; I feel its vibe…! Likin’ how Mr. Lake, someone active from that playlist timeline I just mentioned, comes through wit this great houseness…! Sounds great fa somethin’ on Astralwerks & Capitol, via this vibe… Like how tha sample broadens more, durin’ tha follow-up chorus part, with tha “You Used To Hold Me”. See, now this a nice way ta remake somethin’! No plainness, here; just planeness (we flyin’)!! My Rating: 4.4

10. GOLDHOUSE & Mokita “I Don’t Wanna Know (Remix)”
Label: FrtyFve
A new one from Music Choice Dance, earlier this week, via PO, I imagine… Not sure if it’s tha remix or what but not too much inside scoop wit me, so far (one sample). >>> Okay vocals, here; prolly didn’t sound like a remix? They have an original vs. here? Don’t remember it soundin’ this more enhanced… Either way, definitely nice ta have tha enhancement…! My Rating: 4.1

½time: Thought this edition was only gonna be okay, tho a lot of surprises, so far…!! A 4.4-rated release, so far; let’s keep it movin’…!!

11. Surf Mesa feat. Emilee “ily (i love you baby) (Topic Remix)”
Label: Astralwerks/Capitol
I know ARTY hard ta come by, on these editions, these dayz… I can imagine his mix’s better than this…? >>> This ain’t bad, tho tha original & ARTY’s way better than this; this a lil’ dry/watered-down… Tha shocker of tha moment? I thought tha original sounded excellent fa a remake, due to  its tropical sound, in my opinion…! It got tha pass from me…! My Rating: 3.7

12. Famba “Find Myself (Disco Killerz Remix)”
Label: Sony Canada
Keepin’ it movin’; let’s go…!! >>> Sounded like a pop song, at first, tho got better with tha way tha vocals & music blended in, together…! Nice job, Famba & DK! Tha chorus cool; always glad to “Find [Yourself]”! Tha more I “Find Myself”, tha better I feel about myself/legacy? Tha drop a lil’ more on tha stronger side than tha goosebump-triggerin’ side, here? That’s how I feel, tho I like tha strength…! Great job wit tha lyrics, of course…! Great blend…! My Rating: 4.3

13. Disco Fries & Giiants “Believer (VIP Remix)”
Label: Liftoff
*Just presses play, without a preview…* >>> Sounds nice; was that “sativa,” I heard? Burnin’ somethin’ good…? Sounds like somethin’ excitin’… Then, I heard tha title & remembered I just got a sample of it, recently. Think I wanted to wait for more exposure, like here, due to their previous track, “Anybody”, ain’t get out there too much, here… Yeah, tha “sativa…fever” part came back; definitely official! Sounds so much better, now! Great vocal collaborator, here! Gotta feel tha “sativa!!” My Rating: 4.5

14. PS1 feat. Alex Hosking “Fake Friends”
Label: Three Six Zero
A shorter edit, here; a newbie, it looks like…? >>> Sounds like a dope collab, via tha deep-houseness…; dope-ass climax!! Oh wait, I know of this from somewhere? Tha chorus sounds familiar but great for an appearance, right now…! Three Six Zero takin’ over? Seemed like an iffy ride they had, on tha last release. However, this proves they’re here to stay…! Glad tha climax came back, for a 3rd time, too! Definitely an interestin’ vibe, altogether…!! My Rating: 4.7

15. Cash Cash feat. Laura White “Gasoline”
Label: Big Beat/EMG
Ironically, I reviewed this 3rd, to keep up with the time/blend. Ironically, it’s a multiple of 3 (#15) & blends in, nicely. Lol, my original prediction for tha 3rd song? Sounds like a nice collab; I should appreciate it more than tha previous CC song, “Mean It”? Sounds slightly better with our girl, Laura, on this…! Tha 1st time publicly she’s on a PO? Great news; she’s got tha consistency! My Current Rating: 4.3

16. NEFFEX “New Beginnings (Disco Fries & MIMO Remix)”
Label: 12Tone/Burning Boat
Glad to see tha Fries on here, again, as well as their boy, MIMO…! >>> Sounds like a pop song, remixed, here, tho not pop labels, here… Drop aight, as well as tha chorus; nothin’ too special… My Rating: 3.1

17. Yuksek feat. Confidence Man “Gorgeous”
Label: Robbins
*Just gets into it, due to trying to save time…* >>> Sounds like somethin’ completely on anotha planet, based off tha intro, lol? Sounds like some disco song or somethin’…? I’ono; I don’t think there’s full dislikeness, here. Due to it’s with Robbins, I think it won’t be this big sellout track. Then again, it could happen…? It’s almost like flippin’ a coin, with some tracks… Either way, I like this style from them, tho I don’t think anyone should jack & make a big trend outta it… Just let it be exclusive, okay, lol…? My Rating: 3.6

18. deadmau5 & The Neptunes “Pomegranate (French Original Mix)”
Label: mau5trap
Luv how durin’ a time like this, The Neptunes & their “The Neptunes” ID makes a comeback, durin’ a time like this, in a dance way…? >>> Either way, despite all tha happiness of tha throwbackness of tha early 2000’s, I think this mainly okay. Didn’t really pay too much attention to it, at first, tho I think it can break that lazy barrier, with me. I think this collab cool for tha mainstream, even tho it only okay for me, with how it sounds. Maybe, it’s just Pharrell’s singin’? Tha okay/mainstream-vibed deadmau5 beat…? Also, kinda pickin’ up around tha 2:00 mark, so that’s a mini plus… My Rating: 3.6

19. Imanbek & Martin Jensen feat. Moa Lisa “I’m Just Feelin’ (Du Du Du)”
Label: Arista
This was my original pick for what I thought was gonna be tha 1st track on here. Then, I seen “Higher Ground” & chose that, due to that song’s speed/this one’s slower. Either way, with tha hidden vocalist gettin’ out there with writing & secretly collaboratin’, Moa Lisa makin’ a nice name for herself. After me 1st hearin’ her on tha Nicky Romero “Stay” track (via tha Festival Mix), here she comes on this one. Even tho I think tha Imanbek “Roses” remix iz takin’ over a lil’ too big, in tha world, I think this iz nice ta hear. Somethin’ catchy about how Moa sings & tha two DJs hold it down; nice job, y’all…! My Current Rating: 4.3

20. Connor Bvrns “INNOCENCE”
Label: Connor Bvrns
A self-release from this “Anthem” creator, here… How will this one sound…? >>> Sounds a lil’ like an alternative-dance track? Kinda on tha decent side fa me, here… Tha title in CAPS, tho Connor Bvrns says, “party less?” Sounds like it’s a clash, lol? Shouldn’t that mean to “party” more…? Either way, kinda short, lol…; tha drop bleh, here… Thought it woulda been more exciting of a beat fa a 108 BPM track… Then again, he speedin’ up from his “Anthem” sound, here… My Rating: 3.0

21. Marshmello & Halsey “Be Kind (Surf Mesa Remix)”
Label: Astralwerks/Capitol
Time to continue… >>> Glad this has a remix; needed a lil’ boost from Mr. “ily”, here… Glad they kept parts of tha original sound & made it more of a dance vibe, here… Kinda likin’ how tha vocal chops jump up & down, durin’ tha drop; great job, Mr. “ily”, lol…! My Rating: 4.3

Overall: Lol, I almost thought there were 22 songs on here but that was tha last edition! It ended so outta nowhere, lol! Either way, sounds like y’all made tha best of a comeback, here!! Definitely well-thought & special, overall…!
