Review #2,018: Promo Only "Dance Radio May 2022"

Reviewed on 4.15.2022 (Review #2,018)

Feelin’ Good, on this Good Friday, pun intended! It’s Promo Only Dance Radio May 2022 tyme! Also, comin’ up in two weeks, on tha 29th, it’ll mark 16 years that I’ve been reviewin’ Dance Radio editions! That’s why, I seem to wanna celebrate with tha May editions. With that bein’ said, I think music’s at a decent-but-good path, as we speak. Just need a lil’ more of it, at tymes, especially when my life seems like it’s in tha fast lane. Start Tyme: 12:51 PM | End Tyme: 3:16 PM

Disclaimer: I type how I wanna type (frequent use of “tha” instead of “the,” “iz” instead of “is,” “a”-ending words instead of “er,” and a few others). I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it, I like it how I wanna like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. Sometymes, I may not rate a song too high on its first listen, but in tha future, I could be playin’ it more than a higher-rated song…

01. David Guetta x Becky Hill x Ella Henderson “Crazy What Love Can Do”
Label: Atlantic
Shout out ta these three for collabbin’ together, even tho I prefer hearin’ Ella’s voice over Becky’s. Been seein’ it get out there but haven’t got to get its actual listen from tha start. So, without further or “do”… >>> Likin’ how Becky sounds in tha beginning with this great, simple vibe of Mr. Guetta. Awesome to hear tha both of them (Becky & Ella) collaboratin’ with Guetta, literally; luv how they blend together!! Yeah, from my off-catch listens, that’s where I heard more of Ella & yeah, it’s true for me. Needless ta say, yeah, definitely a mega-catchy track with tha Guetta beats, Ella vocals & Becky combination! Definitely a mega plus; we’ll see how every1 treats this, in tha future! I hope good & I can sense it good; let’s make it 100.00% happen!! My Rating: 4.9

02. TELYKast feat. Teddy Swimms “Loveless”
Label: Casablanca/Republic
Been catchin’ this one get out there, here & there… Haven’t had tha chance to really add it but I’m glad tha TELYKast boyz done made it to tha Casablanca/Republic level, after alwayz self-releasin’. Now, I get to leave my 100.00% full input on a new TELYKast track! >>> Likin’ how they stuck with tha fade-in vocal part in tha beginning, just like with “UNBREAKABLE”! Sounds like a track I would have to get used to, just like with “UNBREAKABLE”? That started off as a played-but-not-added track for me but turned into a #1 track on BPM. Think of those contrasting odds! As far as this, it’s slightly catchy with these male vocals that sound more on tha R&B side than tha country side of “UNBREAKABLE”. I like how we’re “picking up tha pieces, like hot stew”; alwayz good to have “stew” around…! We’ll see if this one grows like “UNBREAKABLE”; it may but it may not reach “UNBREAKABLE”’s heights, imo… My Rating: 3.9

03. Lucas & Steve x MARF “Give Me Your Love”
Label: Spinnin’
Looks like it finna be a huge, anthemic-type of track! Can’t wait ta hear! I know I’m ready fa somethin’ big…! >>> Instant start with tha unexpected female vocal to back tha acoustic guitar up! After all tha acoustic vibes, I’m definitely feelin’ how tha music kicks in & does it big! It’s kinda like a 50/50 vibe for me, between tha acoustic parts bein’ okay & tha other 50% bein’ fulla great energy. Either way, definitely on tha up & up! We’ll see how this does with all tha dance peoples’ vibes & minds, comin’ up…! My Rating: 4.0

04. ALWZ SNNY x Sincerely Collins “Fairytale”
Label: SNNY NITES
Looks like it can bring off somethin’ good, based off of it also bein’ 128 BPM, like tha previous track. Hoping to see tha right combination of energy, between tha music & whatever vocals may lie ahead… >>> Shout out to tha lyrics of tha materialistic, in tha beginning; you know I dig tha materials, on tha right level of success, tho! These male vocals sound cool to hear, here; I feel like tha music’s soundin’ anticipatin’, throughout tha chorus…! Oh, sounds like some big vibes my boy from NYC, Vinny Venom, would bring to tha table!! Shout out to tha drop; definitely not a “Fairytale”, quality-wise! It’s a real plus!! Some lyrics sound a lil’ cheesy but tha energy definitely not—oh geez, even mentionin’ “Aladdin”! Oh, shit, “Magic carpet,” too…?! Sounds partially cheesy but still worth tha vibe, for me… My Rating: 4.4

05. Alesso & Sentinel “Only You”
Label: Astralwerks/Capitol
One of tha tracks I got an exclusive listen through tha POOL player. Luv how I can open up to peeps like my mom about “Calling (Lose My Mind)” now bein’ a decade old! Even on this edition—one of my favorite editions from that year—May 2012! I told her that here’s Alesso a decade later: “When I’m Gone” & now, this. I’m definitely feelin’ tha energy bein’ brought to tha table, courtesy of a prog-rockin’ ‘Less’! Also, feelin’ how these male vocals have that cool, strong sense of adaptin’ to tha strong energy this brings! Peeps may’ve questioned Ales’ for tha “When I’m Gone” venture but I definitely felt that vibe. Makes me appreciate those dayz of 2008 & 2012 more, bringin’ ‘em into 2022! This energy proves that ‘Less’ still got it, no matter which decade it iz! My Current Rating: 4.5

06. Joel Corry x David Guetta x Bryson Tiller “What Would You Do?”
Label: Big Beat/EMG
Been seein’ it get out there & I luv how tha newer Guetta collab topped this PO’s tracklist, instead! I wanted to guess this was gonna top it, at first, but tha quality was for tha Becky x Ella combo! As far as this, it just seems okay with Bry’s vocals, here; beats & music are decent, as well. I’ono, will people appreciate this that much? Will it play itself out, instead? Interesting with tha Corry x Bryson collab ‘cause six years ago, I was with my homeboy from Dunkin’, Cory & he was jammin’ a lot to Bryson Tiller’s career start. See how tha world connects, nowadayz?! My Current Rating: 3.6

07. Jonas Blue & Sevenn “Angles”
Label: Musical Freedom
Not too sure what to expect… Sevenn at #Seven; interesting mix, already…! >>> Sounds like it’s tryin’ to be somethin’ hot or somethin’; I’ono… To me, it sounds a lil’ cheesy, at first, but I’m kinda feelin’ tha drop & music. I mean, it’s a lil’ dry but it can succeed, in a way? Music sounds a lil’ better at 1:42; feelin’ how tha sounds aren’t so dry, anymore… See, that’s how you believe & feel tha music can do better; it can!! Overall, an average-kinda track for me, on a house vibe… My Rating: 3.7

08. DES3ETT feat. Jack Dawson “Neon Signs”
Label: Robbins
Gonna be on guard wit this one; not too sure where tha Robbins routes are goin’, these dayz, as far as tracks recently released… >>> Off to a dry start with these beats & vocals that almost reminded me of a Jeremih-type flow. He really wants “to get high on it”? Oh boy, that even repeats in tha chorus, too! Definitely feelin’ tha catchiness, here; more cool than cheesy, on this track! Music’s kinda pickin’ up in a quality sound, luckily; only 122 BPM to prove itself… Will this one get out there, in tha world? We’ll have to see if people gon pay attention to it. Didn’t realize how short it was, too! Only 2:17 but it proved itself, quick & easy! My Rating: 4.2

09. Disco Fries “Dopamine”
Label: Spinnin’
Looks like it gon be anotha anthemic one? I’ono but I wanna hear what we got goin’ on…! >>> Sounds like an interestin’ start with, like, a Plumb-type of innocence in tha vocals… Not much to say, at first, but I think I wanna say more, now that a minunte went by. I’m feelin’ how tha music progresses nice & easily, includin’ tha house-y vocals holdin’ it down, too. I wonder how this one’ll do in tha future, too… I’m likin’ that there’s a bunch of tracks on here that make me feel tha same way. My Rating: 4.3

½tyme: Currently, we sit at a 4.2 for tha average rating; definitely nice! Definitely feelin’ a bunch of tha tracks, so far & am happy about tha Guetta x Becky x Ella collab! I feel like it gon make tha spring go round & summer, if it’s a long-lasting “Hurricane”, lol—no pun intended. At this point, I need me some cereal, so I finna get my grub on, right fast!

10. KUU “Dance With Me”
Label: Big Beat/EMG
How will we kick off tha 2nd ½…? >>> I’ono how I gon feel about this one; I try not to think I’m “old” in a sense of songs that were new, at tha tyme, were while I was doin’ countdowns & all that. A whole 22 years in tha progress; top 10’s every day, till this day! With that bein’ said, Debelah Morgan “Dance With Me” = This. I’ono, a part of me thinks that KUU was bored & needed to find somethin’ to remake? Kept a verse & then, just kept pumpin’ tha chorus; I’ono, tho… My Rating: 2.5

11. 71 Digits x Flo Rida “Low”
Label: Spinnin’
Seen this one pop its head outta nowhere, as well… Just like with Debelah Morgan, this one makes me feel 7x stranger ‘cause of Flo Rida & his T-Pain-collab’d “Low”, back in 2007. I was already deep into playlists, PO reviewz, countdowns, you name it! *Rehears* Yeah, whether it’s Debelah’s singin’ on tha previous track or Flo Rida’s rappin’ + tha singin’ on here, I ain’t really fuckin’ wit it. Just hearin’ tha chorus voice just makes me feel like it sounds cheesier than tha original. I’ono, I’ont think those tymes can be slowed down to a house vibe, accordin’ to this track… My Current Rating: 1.0

12. Wendy “Everything”
Label: Tazmania
Glad to see her make a comeback, as well as Tazmania on tha label, too! I really enjoyed those tymes of tha Dark Intensity, Sophia May, Wendy & more! Also, cool ta know that Wendy’s son iz Slushii & that he’s Asperger’s like me! That’s an interesting sign, especially that I’m almost nine years older than him…! >>> Sounds like a good lil’ start, here, especially that it’s been nearly 12 years since her previous PO appearance (“Turn It Up”, courtesy of 8/10’s DR). Definitely likin’ her energy on here, includin’ tha music & tha whole upbeatness that doesn’t die down! I feel like this one’ll be underrated & more appreciated by me, for its special appearance on here. Then again, if it does get tha right exposure, hopefully, it’ll get tha appreciation her son gets…! For now, I think I’mma appreciate her luv for wantin’ “Everything”! My Rating: 4.5

13. The Chainsmokers “iPad”
Label: Disruptor/Columbia
Followin’ up from their “High”… I like that this iz more on a dancier level but I have ta say that tha lyrics are cheesy but good. It’s tha euphoric feeling of tha dance vibes that bring this track alive, in a guilty-pleasure perspective. Still, keep tellin’ them stories, in a full-on dance way, chainsmokin’-Chainsmokers, lol… My Current Rating: 3.8

14. Charli XCX “Used To Know Me”
Label: Atlantic
Oh boy, Charli on her own, here… Already got a taste of this one but don’t 100.00% program it in my head, yet. Still, great vibes from her with tha throwback-soundin’ dance-music sampling, once again (“Show Me Love”). Luv how she turns tha throwbacks into a fresh/new vibe! It’s not torturous like tha full-on remakes. Great job with tha lifestyle of a Charli named XCX, lol. My Current Rating: 4.1

15. Alok & Bastille “Run Into Trouble”
Label: Casablanca/Republic
Been seein’ this one make its way into tha world…; I’ono exactly about these two collabbin’, imo… >>> Neva really appreciated tha Bastille vocal; at tymes, I’m glad they get recognized but at tymes, they bore me. As tha chorus approaches, I feel how it sounds better & how tha euphoria lets out. Either way, not tha craziest about this collab but it’s nothin’ bad. Tha bridge sounds like Bastille been on some Gloria Estefan-type shit with tha “oh-I-oh-I,” randomly appearin’; I’ll just say, “L…o…l…,” lol. My Rating: 3.4

16. Marc Benjamin feat. Simon Erics “Whistle”
Label: TurnItUp
Which way will this go…? >>> Sounds like an ode to Avicii & Aloe Blacc’s tracks? I neva was a fan of tha blues-y vibes at all, from then till now. Just was neva my style & I can’t imagine it in today’s world. Not near tha feel-good level, this can only really qualify to be cool & that’s it. As far as tha drop & everything, it’s ehh, just an okay track. Can’t really appreciate this to tha max, includin’ its slow speed of 115… Tha whole “Whistle” theme makes it seem like it’s whistlin’ its way to a pile of cheese, imo. My Rating: 2.3

17. Tritonal & Last Heroes with Lizzy Land “Safe & Sound”
Label: Enhanced
Looks like an interestin’ collab, here; can’t wait ta hear dis one…! >>> Sounds like a nice lil’ slow intro, here; I feel tha anticipation between tha three artists…! Sounds like a good chorus to go with tha 1st verse…; not bad. Hearin’ tha drop & it sounds good, for a trapped-out vibe. At tymes, I like how Tritonal can warp their way to a trapped-out vibe, while previously bein’ progressive. They also make sure a faster remix comes, along tha way; that’s a good look to decide on tha true quality. I’ono how this’ll grow with tha people in tha world; we’ll have to wait & find out. For now, I’ll give it a decent amount of props. Glad Lizzy knows how to let tha world know ta “hold tight”! My Rating: 4.2

18. Krewella “Drive Away”
Label: Mixed Kids
What an interestin’ way ta end this edition; gotta luv tha ‘Wella! A track frequently comin’ on BPM, these dayz; always gotta appreciate Krewella. Though I haven’t really been drivin’ “away,” lately, I am ready fa my next, big adventure! Also, it goes over as a great influence I left on people to luv to “Drive Away” to an environment that would appreciate you more, ya feel me?! Luv their ambition; luv mines, too! Let’s all continue ta keep gettin’ it in! Their trapped-out vibe on this track sounds nice ta hear, as well; great job, ‘Wella! My Current Rating: 4.0

Overall: An interesting edition; sounds like most of it can get out there fast. A few tracks are already known to my knowledge but at least there’s a bunch others that can make an interesting *BOOM!*, when they arrive! With that bein’ said, let’s hope tha artists continue to bring tha best of energy to tha masses, originally! Organically! No need to remake tha wrong way!
