Review #2,019: Promo Only "Dance Radio June 2022"

Reviewed on 5.15.2022 (Review #2,019)

Still thrown into my fast-lane livin’, it feels like anotha month just came like it was nothin’! Even with me havin’ COVID from April 28th – May 3rd, my full-tyme missed me for three work nights! It’s like I hopped right out & back into tha fast lane, like it was nothin’! Now, Promo Only Dance Radio June 2022 iz here! I’m gonna do a lil’ somethin’ slightly different with this one… I did this with tha July 2006 edition but wasn’t gettin’ high, at tha tyme & didn’t give tha best ratings. Now, my earbuds should be much more enhanced, so I can review this without lookin’ at any artist/title/mix/label/BPMs! That’s right! A whole blind review!! Unless I know tha song already, I can comment on it like I normally would. However, I’m ready for some surprises; can’t wait…! Start Tyme: 9:47 AM | End Tyme: 11:24 AM

Disclaimer: I type how I wanna type (frequent use of “tha” instead of “the,” “iz” instead of “is,” “a”-ending words instead of “er,” and a few others). I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it, I like it how I wanna like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. Sometymes, I may not rate a song too high on its first listen, but in tha future, I could be playin’ it more than a higher-rated song…

01. Alesso & Zara Larsson “Words”
Label: 10:22pm/Astralwerks/Capitol
What will be first…?! >>> Oh boy; can’t believe “When I’m Gone”’s leavin’ tha radio, these dayz! As far as this, it ain’t that bad but it’s a lil’ catchy. I’ono how much I anticipate playin’ it but then again, maybe, it’ll have to earn “When I’m Gone” props? Music ain’t too bad; nothin’ too much goin’ on with it, so I don’t see it catchin’ on as much as I thought it would. As far as Zara, her verses are ehh but tha chorus iz catchy. Gotta let ‘em out when they’re on “tha tip of [your] tongue!” My Current Rating: 3.8

02. Martin Garrix & Shaun Farrugia “If We’ll Ever Be Remembered”
Label: STMPD
Let’s keep this thang goin’ with… >>> Okay, a strong anthem; feelin’ this new one! Then again, Garrix just keeps ‘em comin’ like fireballz, these dayz! Along with tha other song these two got (“Starlight (Keep Me Afloat)” w/DubVision), this stays parallel with tha energy & same male-vocal vibe; gotta luv it! Definitely a great way to celebrate future nostalgia & tha music/things that make a person find tha awesome in them! I agree with this legacy-like content, includin’ how Garrix slams tha energy with tha climax & drop!! Great goin’, y’all! Alwayz provide tha proper energy to “be remembered!” Like, havin’ COVID without bein’ at my full-tyme, it felt like I was bein’ “remembered,” as if I died or somethin’! Crazy; it’s tha energy, determination & confidence I bring to tha table! I actually like this slightly better than their “S (KMA)” collab, as a heads-up. My Current Rating: 4.5

03. Tiësto & Deorro “Savage”
Label: Musical Freedom
Numba triggy-triggy-three…! >>> A BIGGER one!! Luv this collab! Luv tha whole concept of these two collaboratin’, as well as tha “Savage” title!! Definitely stands on top, I feel like, for this review! Gotta luv tha chorus! “We’re goin’ savage, we couldn’t care less. […] Let’s do some damage!” & tha part about “gettin’ sober,” as if we gotta “do it over again!” Then, tha Deorro drop, as if I’m in his Dunkin’/“Five Hours” perspective, from eight years ago! Gotta luv when hearin’ that vibe on here, it brings a smile to my face…! Golden job, y’all! Keep goin’ “Savage”!! My Current Rating: 4.9

04. Steve Aoki & HRVY “Save Me”
Label: Dim Mak
Let’s keep it goin’… >>> Okay, first new-new one for me, even tho tha vocals sound familiar. “Save me from myself,” huh? Decent with tha music, male vocals & chorus, here… Hearin’ tha drop & it’s pretty dry—plain! Needs to be like a plane, not plain, lol; fly! As far as tha rest of it, mainly, it’s just decent; I dunno how much it’ll cling on to every1, tho… My Rating: 2.7
EDIT: Nice to hear HRVY but SA made him dry…

05. Oliver Heldens feat. Nile Rodgers & House Gospel Choir “I Was Made For Lovin’ You”
Label: RCA
>>> Oh geez, this collab; I dunno about it… Not likin’ tha gospel sound that sounds like a remake. Then again, should my perspective do a 180 & turn around? Woulda been a catchier/more-memorable vocal for me to appreciate, if it wasn’t so gospel’d out… My Current Rating: 2.3

06. Swedish House Mafia with Connie Constance “Heaven Takes You Home”
Label: SSA/Republic
Despite some of tha ratings, atm, I’m still anticipatin’ tha surprises…! >>> Lmao!! Luvin’ all their songs that keep gettin’ out there & this iz a grower. I think I like it more now that it was tha last song I played while driving, b4 I got COVID (on my late brother’s birthday). I also liked it better on my late brother’s death day, May 10th, basically with tha whole “Heaven” theme. As far as tha song, itself, tha vocals are unique; it’s always good to have new, unknown vocalists, no matter how big you may be. Hopefully, tha dance world will continue to appreciate this one & keep SHM as one of tha top acts in dance music, today & for tha future! With tha outro with tha beat ending, it sounds a lil’ creepy but cool, at tha same tyme. Gotta “fit in your pocket,” lol. My Current Rating: 4.2

07. Cheat Codes “Tell Me You Love Me”
Label: Cheat Codes
What’s next…? >>> Hearin’ tha Cheat Codes lead vocalist (Trevor); think I mighta seen somethin’ similar to this somewhere… Yeah, think I mighta heard this one but neva got a good listen to it, yet. Doesn’t sound as plain as Track 04 on here with tha vocals; music-wise, yes, a lil’ plain. Sometymes, durin’ tha chorus, it picks up but tha lyrics get a lil’ repetitive. My Rating: 3.7
EDIT: Cool that it’s their own song; almost thought it was a collab.

08. MK x Paul Woolford feat. Majid Jordan “Teardrops”
Label: Ultra
Keepin’ it movin’… >>> Sounded like an anticipatin’, mysterious-type of first few seconds, on this track… Hearin’ tha vocals & it sounds like The Weeknd to me. *Chorus plays* Ahhhhhhh!!!! Bwahahahahah!! Too cheesy for me; that repetitive chorus & from a one-hit-wonder vocalist that only had a hit with Drake, nine years ago! Tha MK x PW collaboration part iz nice but that chorus just shmells like rotten cheese to me! Like, “Teardrops on tha dancefloor”? Why so sad? Why “Teardrops”?! My Current Rating: 2.9

09. Ofenbach “4U”
Label: 3ee/Big Beat
Next… >>> What to make of this start? Hmm… A lil’ acoustic in tha beginning; I’ono how interested I can be in this. Sounds a lil’ bit like Tove Lo? I’ono what to make… Charli XCX? Chorus sounds a lil’ catchy but doesn’t offer much, as well as tha music. My Rating: 3.0
EDIT: Ehh, a secret vocalist! Ofenbach were better, previously, too.

10. Seamus D “Like That”
Label: Ultra
>>> Geez, lmao!! Been gettin’ a good dose of it from BPM & now, it’s their most-played track, atm, with 399 spins in tha past 30 dayz! Kinda lost interest in it, as its reputation was risin’. Not that bad for a breakin’ DJ outside tha U.S. & now, got this song signed with Ultra. Remakin’ Rihanna, of all people, lol… Music can be cool, with tha way everythang be blendin’ in. I’m just not likin’ tha quick transition at 1:12; usually, a few bars of music are after that. Also, quicker ending; yuck… My Current Rating: 3.6

½tyme: Seems like a dead-on average release, currently, with a 3.5 for tha current average rating. Luved some of tha energy with tha “Savage”, Garrix/Shaun collab & SHM/CC collab but tha rest are either decent or below-average for me, blind or not blind. I’mma get my anticipation up for tha 2nd ½, even tho it usually slows down…

11. Jack Wins “Queen”
Label: Spinnin’
>>> Sounds like a house track; I’ono how much I can feel this… Ehh, not for me; remakin’ Earth, Wind & Fire by repeatin’ tha same thing over & over again? Not cool! I remembered those dayz, back in ’05, when I liked faster, 130 BPM-type house tracks (Uniting Nations “Out Of Touch”). They & those remakin’ styles had their tymes, at least; not like now! My Rating: 1.0
EDIT: Lol.

12. James Hype & Miggy Dela Rosa “Ferrari”
Label: Casablanca/Republic
>>> Unlike tha previous song on here, at least this remakin’ makes for some new catchiness. Likin’ how they sampled P. Diddy, Ginuwine & Loon’s “I Need A Girl (Pt. 2)” with tha music, here, includin’ this “Ferrari” theme…! Also, can’t believe it’s been two decades since “INAG, Pt. 2”! Not a song I grabbed right away but now that it’s here, I guess I’m here to appreciate it more. Hope it continues to get its exposure out in tha world; go, like a “Ferrari,” lol! My Current Rating: 3.9

13. GT_Ofice feat. Britt Lari “Moving On”
Label: Caine
>>> Sounds like a better start with tha female vocals & strong dance vibe! Speakin’ of #13, I wanted to review this on tha Friday tha 13th that passed but I had to do a scratch-off session & had overtyme, that night. As far as tha vocals, definitely nice; tha music’s definitely cool, too, with tha chorus! Also, good drop! See, it took tha questionable #13 to make a change in this edition! Back to tha poppin’ positives!! Props to whatever this iz; definitely a nice, full-on new track for me! My Rating: 4.4
EDIT: That’s a nice collab!

14. Westend & Millean. feat. MarynCharlie “Feel”
Label: Musical Freedom
>>> Sounds like a good start, vocal-wise… MEDUZA-like beats? Au/Ra-like vocals? Lol, what a combo when I said that! Luv tha lil’ build-up b4 tha chorus! Awesome lil’ vibe I’m feelin’ off of this one, here…! Whatever tha true combo iz, just know that I thought it sounded like a combo of ‘DUZA & Au/Ra…! Gotta “feel it in [your] heart!” Alwayz! That’s literally what it gon be for me, as my life continues! That’s what it’s basically about; you want that quality! My Rating: 4.4
EDIT: Lol @ my prediction; cool list of mainly newbies, here…!

15. Feenixpawl “Drowning”
Label: Feenixpawl
>>> Sounds like a new female vocalist, here? A decent lil’ dance start in tha music… “Drowning”, ehh? A lil’ negative ‘til it was about “drowning… in your love.” Then, tha music got better in tha drop, so that’s a plus. I’ono, if it’s a new artist, then it could sound like a BPM Breaker? Sounds like some good summer vibes… How will whatever this iz do in tha future? My Rating: 4.0
EDIT: Lol @ tha “BPM Breaker” part; I guess whoever tha mysterious female iz…

16. GUMMiBEAR “Snack Machine”
Label: Dharma/Spinnin’
>>> Sounds like a new slap-house track with a female on tha vocals, here… How will this turn out? Sounds like I can appreciate tha female but can I appreciate tha slappy vibe? Sounds like a dope lil’ pre-chorus part & then, tha drop cool, as well…! I think this’ll be one that’ll be a good track, in tha future. I can feel it bein’ a lil’ bit of a grower, if played right? I know that sounds odd but by playin’ “right,” I meant that, if “played [tha] right” amount of tymes by dance outlets, it can be a grower for me, more, ya feel me? My Rating: 4.1
EDIT: Lmao @ tha ID! Not what I expected with this one but cool, I guess?

17. Kah-Lo “Drag Me Out”
Label: Epic
>>> Oh boy, lol!! Here comes my girl, Kah-to-tha-Lo! Thought it sounded silly when this started to get out there & now, it sounds crazy! Like, lol? Her demeanor & presence iz alwayz great & I love tha craziness! “There’s no more words for this song; da-da-da, da-da-da-da-da-da-da; hey!” Lol?! I literally said to myself a few songs ago, “Oh boy, imagine if Kah-Lo iz on here…!” Now, here we are! Great party vibes, here; gotta luv tha “Hey! Hey! Hey!” chantin’ in tha drop part, too! Celebration iz here…! My Current Rating: 4.3

18. Martin Eriksson “Never Really Liked You”
Label: Hysteria
>>> A second of an intro & then, tha female vocals kicked in; let’s see what this be ‘bout… Sounds like a good lil’ dance-pop vibe about “never really [liking] you.” I’ll give tha chorus props & this whole dance-pop vibe… Sounds good for a song with negative lyrics; hope this one gets some exposure out in tha world… My Rating: 4.2
EDIT: One day, I hope to know who tha mysterious female iz.

19. SOFI TUKKER “Summer In New York”
Label: Ultra
Lookin’ forward to continuin’ ta hear how this edition gon progress…! I still think we gon be slowin’ down in a bit… >>> Not as slow as I thought but cool that it’s anotha edition with SOFI TUKK! Tha way they remake tha whole “Tom’s Diner” track from ’90 by takin’ tha “do-do-do-do-de-de-do-do” part in their chorus/drop part/transition sounds great to hear. It’s nothin’ on an ear-bleedin’ tip & they can get as much “New York” as they want! At least they make “New York” seem fun & exciting. I haven’t had too many experiences in NYC, except for at night, on August 18, 2018, when I was at a party with some DJs I met on February 21, 2015. Other than that, I’ono, iz there more of a “New York” future for me? Hmm… My Current Rating: 4.2

20. Megan Thee Stallion & Dua Lipa “Sweetest Pie (David Guetta Remix)”
Label: 1501 Certified/300
>>> Hearin’ tha first few seconds with these vocals makes me want to expect this to be good…! Sounds like a nice lil’ chorus & vibe, here…! Oh boy, this iz what this iz? I was wonderin’ what this “Pie” was, after all! I’ono, not feelin’ tha Megan contribution, after Dua’s chorus. Even more of Megan with anotha verse, too… Ehh, doesn’t match well with Ms. Lipa… I mean, tha title does sound delicious but I can find my own food, somewhere else! Ended outta nowhere, lol! My Rating: 2.6

21. Alok & Bastille “Run Into Trouble (Jonas Blue Remix)”
Label: Casablanca/Republic
Here comes tha final track, already; hmm… >>> A faster track? Must be a remix/extra appearance… Oh… no…; not tha most anticipatin’ one to remix but still, slightly better than tha original. My Rating: 3.7

Overall: Glad it got a lil’ betta, as tha edition went on; sounded like a few surprises but not many. Just seems like June gon be a sappy-like month? It’s my birthday month & it seems like I can anticipate a lotta good goin’ on. I’ono, maybe, it’s tha fast-lane livin’? June’ll fly by? I’ono what to think but we’ll see what happens when tha next edition comes out, next month, right b4 I go on my vacation. Until then, lemme go reveal all these IDs! I will add “EDIT:”s to each one that needed to be revealed! *Reveals IDs* Interesting but not no crazy surprises, such as mindblowin’ comebacks or anything; only one was tha GUMMiBEAR one. Anyway, good goin’, here & there; I’ll just take tha month of May as a by-passer, basically.
