Review #2,033: Promo Only "Dance Radio January 2023"

Reviewed on 12.11.2022 (Review #2,033)

Promo Only Dance Radio January 2023
iz here! Also, just like tha previous edition, I’m reviewin’ this without havin’ a night off tha full-tyme all week (tonight iz Night #08, this tyme)! I’m just hoppin’ from one spot to tha next, tryna juggle err-thang… I didn’t even get ta look at tha tracklist & am gonna review this with each track bein’ revealed to me, live! How will err-thang go? I’m anticipatin’ this one & a start to what’s gonna be an awesome year for dance music! Start Tyme: 5:40 PM | End Tyme: 7:10 PM

Disclaimer: I type how I wanna type (frequent use of “tha” instead of “the,” “iz” instead of “is,” “a”-ending words instead of “er,” and a few others). I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it, I like it how I wanna like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. Sometymes, I may not rate a song too high on its first listen, but in tha future, I could be playin’ it more than a higher-rated song…

01. 3LAU “Too Late For Love”
Label: Blume
Kickin’ tha year off with 3LAU & a new track I saw, recently. Didn’t really get a chance to pay attention to it, yet, so here’s my opportunity… >>> Sounds like a nice & slighty-familiar female on tha vocals, here; likin’ ‘em…! Great vocals & tha chorus sounds pretty nice, too; definitely givin’ this one a plus! Awesome-soundin’ start to tha new year comin’ up! DEFINITELY has to be free of violence & free of misjudgin’ my beliefs!! Nice with how tha 2nd verse sounds, too; definitely diggin’ this to start tha new year off! Awesome that tha pre-chorus plays at tha end, too! My Rating: 4.4

02. Martin Garrix & JVKE “Hero”
Label: Epic Amsterdam/RCA
Didn’t expect to see somethin’ like this, outta nowhere… Also, a lot slower style with Garrix, again? Hope it ain’t tha boring slow… >>> Sounds like an odd start, here… I’ono if I’m feelin’ this one, right away. Vocals sound a lil’ iffy & tha music’s way too poppy for me. I think Garrix iz tryna celebrate his now decade anniversary of tha music business by needin’ $$$! That’s what this sound sounds like to me, here… My Rating: 2.1

03. Kx5 & Elderbrook “When I Talk”
Label: mau5trap/ARKADE/AWAL
Not too sure how I’ll anticipate this collab but it’s alwayz good when Kx5 in town… >>> Sounds a lil’ betta than tha previous Elderbrook tracks that had come out in tha past. Definitely feelin’ tha Kx5 music throughout tha whole track! They definitely put some good, progressin’ energy in this one…! Gotta feel tha drop takin’ ova tha track, continuously…! My Rating: 4.3

04. The Blessed Madonna feat. Uffie “Serotonin Moonbeams”
Been seein’ this one on Diplo’s Revolution & now, it makes its way on to tha January 2023 edition, here! Lookin’ forward to analyzin’ this one…! >>> Couldn’t exactly remember what this sounded like but yeah, I remember that whistlin’ in tha beginning. Tha whistlin’ reminds me of tha late Frankie Knuckles & his “The Whistle Song”. Then, these vocals sound catchy & a lil’ random to ring in tha new year! Definitely a plus & I’m luvin’ tha fast vibe!! Whoo @ tha 2nd verse! Definitely sounds a lot betta than tha 1st one & tha song continuously progresses in to an unstoppable track! Hearin’ tha bridge & what in tha…? I guess it’s a way to feel high or somethin’? Beats completely did a 180, slowed down & it became a repetitive vocal to zone out to… Interestin’; really undefeatable? Even different-soundin’ beats toward tha near-end… Also, endin’ with a sample… My Rating: 4.6
EDIT: Got tha explicit version from tha POOL Player & saw that this 131 BPM, not 132. Also, featuring Uffie.

05. Duke & Jones x Marlhy “State Of Mind”
Label: Duke & Jones
Should be anotha dope collab that we need fa our upcomin’ 2023…! >>> “You got me so excited…” Definitely excellent for tha 2nd line in tha song, here! Definitely awesome for tha 2nd tyme of me hearin’ Marlhy…! Sounds like a strong beginning; luvin’ tha build-ups, vocals & strong vibes goin’ on…!! Awesome-soundin’ chorus & tha drop’s pretty dope, too, to progressin’ thru! How ‘bout that rhyme…? Definitely luvin’ tha vibes of tha vocals & music, here; can’t be denied…! My Rating: 4.5

06. Lost Kings “Wonderlust”
Label: Disruptor/RCA
Wonder what their new track gon sound like…? >>> Vocals ain’t bad for male ones; almost sounds like a newer version of Years & Years, a lil’. Music ain’t bad; sounds like decent, upbeat music. As far as tha song itself, it’s okay; nothin’ negative to really say. Catchy title with tha “Wonder” replacing tha “Wander”! My Rating: 3.8

07. Julian Gray & Midnite Amity “Between The Lines”
Label: Enhanced
Alwayz anticipatin’ ta hear new music from Enhanced [Recordings]…! >>> Luvin’ tha lil’ trancey beginning sound! Sounds like somethin’ I mighta luved in tha early 2000’s!! Definitely sounds awesome fa a slower, vocal trance-inspired track; awesome vocals & chorus, here…! Sounds like a good, progressin’ drop; definitely nice ta hear… Tha rest of this still sounds awesomely-progressive! Hope it gets a good catch on to tha world…! My Rating: 4.4

08. Stace Cadet “Body Overload”
Label: Robbins
Looks like it can be an anticipatin’ one from Robbins, here…! Likin’ tha title, as just on tha previous song on here, I was closin’ my eyez fa a few seconds… & experiencin’ a headrush…! Now, I can bring it to this track! Here… I… go…! >>> Likin’ that beginning sound… Also, hearin’ tha chorus & I feel like this gon be a house track… Sounds like it, vs. their female dance tracks… Catchy chorus & hard to have a eyez-closed headrush, due to how poundy tha bass iz, on tha drop, includin’ tha way tha vocals approach you. Definitely nice to keep you goin’, tho! Good shit, Stace…! My Rating: 4.2

09. Armand Van Helden x Karen Harding “Wings (I Won’t Let You Down)”
Label: Spinnin’
Looks like an important collab? Saw this one get out there & am hoping for tha best for it… >>> Sounds nice with tha AVH-soundin’ catchiness in tha music, here! Also, nice to collab with KH, too! Nice-soundin’ chorus to go with tha catchiness! Seems like my mind wants to envision a ‘90s-length, AVH-type track for this track. However, today’s quickness makes tha tracks go by fast! It’s just that way of livin’ in tha fast lane…! My Rating: 4.3

10. Wuki “Edge Of Seventeen”
Label: Thrive
I can anticipate Wuki, at tymes, but not in an “Edge of [Stevie Nicks]” way. I think somethin’ like this would’ve been bigger durin’ those mid/late 2000’s dayz of remakin’ those older songs. Still, not my cup of tea with this Stevie Nicks remake. My Current Rating: 1.8

½tyme: Even tho this ½tyme’s only at a 3.8 for tha average rating, I have to say, I’m really feelin’ a bunch of tha tracks, already. Lots of exciting new vibes ta look forward to, for tha new year. It’s just, I’m tryna make it a goal fa 2023 to do more storytellin’ than adventurin’. With that bein’ said, I will continue to progress to tha year 2023…!

11. Lewis Thompson feat. Clementine Douglas “Enchante”
Label: RCA
Anotha new one I’ve been seein’ out there but forgot what it sounded like… >>> Sounds like when R&B vocalists were awesome…; great job, C-Doug! Lyrics, too; you can feel her with her “Miracle Maker”-ass, lol… Also, catchy title, too. My Rating: 3.8

12. NERVO feat. Ace Paloma “Is Someone Looking For Me”
Label: Spinnin’
Looks like somethin’ I’d really anticipate, here… Can’t wait fa this one ta hit my earz! >>> Sounds a lil’ scary with tha young kid on tha vocals, in tha beginning… Sounds like a goal that looked like it shattered when that violence happened to “me”. Like, my goal iz to alwayz make tha “world” 100.00% betta, more confident, etc.! It’s just, it sux when you can’t change people!! As far as how this track sounds, definitely eerie, weird & also, good with tha progressive-soundin’ drop…! My Rating: 3.7

13. Nathan Dawe feat. Talia Mar “Sweet Lies”
Label: Warner
2023 seems like it gon be tha year of all tha collabz! Collabz, collabz, collabz! Got to hear this one through tha POOL player, first & it sounds great, between tha music, vocals & collab! Also, catchy-soundin’ “la-la…” drop! My Current Rating: 4.3

14. Ian Asher “God On The Weekend”
Label: Easier Said
Can’t imagine what this’ll be like… >>> Couldn’t imagine a hot-soundin’ female on tha vocals, here… Hearin’ tha pre-chorus & it’s pretty hot, too; definitely likin’ those vocals! Tha chorus iz pretty hot & anthemic! Definitely feelin’ tha catchy title & how she comes through with tha vocalizin’! “Tunnel vision,” too, comin’ through with non-stop catchiness! Hope this one has some success in tha world! My Rating: 4.5

15. Austin Tate feat. Just Charlii “LNBL”
Label: Big Beat/Atlantic
Can’t imagine this collab… What iz this title? “[Somethin’] Now, [Somethin’] Later”? >>> Sounds like ugly-soundin’ male vocals, for this track… “Late Night Body Language” on tha acronym/title, here… Tha music sounds okay but nothin’ too-too positive to say about tha track, basically. My Rating: 2.3

16. HUGEL x BLOND:ISH x Nfasis “Tra Tra”
Label: Warner
Seein’ HUGEL as tha artist & I think this gon be some Spanish shit I won’t anticipate. >>> Yeah, not up my alley. Tha length comes & goes, at a quick 2:06 & a mix of shit goin’ on. A lil’ bit of nice-soundin’ music & then, a bunch of buildin’ up… Odd outcome, overall; not terrible but not for me. My Rating: 3.0

17. GT_Ofice feat. Amanda Collis “Never Together (Kastra Remix – Radio)”
Label: Caine
I have to admit, throughout this hard year, I remember hearin’ tha original version on four Dance Radios ago. I remembered how much I was sufferin’ from tha aftermath of tha violence & now, here we are with Kastra on tha remix. Since that review, I had that person write somethin’ name-callin’ to me, as well as his son misjudgin’ me & wantin’ to have a ‘Part 2’ of me gettin’ double-slapped! Smh! Anyway, as far as this remix, it sounds a lot like tha energy from tha original, only with tha Kastra spin on it to update it. Alwayz great to hear tha voice of Amanda Collis, tha music of GT_Ofice & Kastra on tha mix! My Rating: 4.7

18. Lena Leon “Spiral (LODATO Remix)”
Label: Liftoff
Been seein’ this one on BPM but didn’t think it would branch out tha way it iz, right now. Music Choice Dance has anotha mix & now, here we are with this. >>> Sounds okay, here; decent, updated beats from LODATO, here, with Lena’s catchy vocals. Also, feelin’ her catchy lyrics, spiralin’ in to success…! My Rating: 3.7

19. Cedric Gervais & Joel Corry “Molly”
Label: Musical Freedom
Oh boy…! Can’t believe tha CG “Molly” track’ll be 11 years-old, in 2023! Tha 7/12 Dance Radio edition! Alwayz feel like those tymes are yesterday to me, especially in my heart. Even tho my whole presence, perspective & value iz on a whole ‘notha level, my passion with my reviewin’, filmin’, everything I do remains with me for good! >>> Sometymes, cool with tha JC music but kinda pointless of a track, overall. “Molly” even more house’d out but updated fa 2023. My Rating: 3.1

20. Mahalo x DLMT “Body Love”
Label: Armada
An Armada appearance on a Dance Radio edition, here, with Mahalo x DLMT… Can’t wait ta hear what we got…? >>> Sounds like a catchy house track? Tha vocals sound like pop/house-y & then, tha other voice sounds like Timbaland or somethin’. Now, hearin’ tha lyrics & it sounds like a Charlie Puth. I’ono, I think this iz just okay, overall; just more music to get us through tha tymes… My Rating: 3.5

21. Venbee x goddard. “messy in heaven”
Label: Arista
An unexpected ending song, here! Just like last month with southstar & now, we got “messy in heaven”! Tha original lyrics are controversial-soundin’, especially with tha “cocaine” & shit like that. So glad that tha world can’t escape these Drum & Bass moments! Gotta have ‘em! That, Jungle, all them UK vibes I loved durin’ tha Music Choice Electronica dayz!! With that bein’ said, tha vocals are cool & this makes for a great mess in 2023! Definitely an awesome vibe; luv those Luude vibes! At least that was a positive inspiration in 2022! My Current Rating: 4.5

Overall: A 5,400-second review done by yours truly…! That’s 90 minutes—oh wait, that’s 1 ½ hours! A lot of good appearances on here, includin’ a few tracks I already knew. Surprised to know “Never Together” got tha highest rating. Guess it deserved its spot at tha top? A gift, basically.
