Review #2,037: Promo Only "Dance Radio April 2023"

Reviewed on 3.19.2023 (Review #2,037)

Excited ta announce that I have free tyme to get to Promo Only Dance Radio April 2023! I see a coupla fast tracks on here, which has me excited for this confusin’ future… Almost was gonna review this one live but didn’t wanna congest my schedule, just yet. I’ll prolly be live-reviewin’ tha July edition, right b4 I go away fa my birthday. I may just review in my room, since my mic still has issues hookin’ up to my cameras. With that bein’ said, let’s get rollin’ with this latest edition of Dance Radio! Start Tyme: 11:19 AM | End Tyme: 12:53 PM

Disclaimer: I type how I wanna type (frequent use of “tha” instead of “the,” “iz” instead of “is,” “a”-ending words instead of “er,” and a few others). I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it, I like it how I wanna like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. Sometymes, I may not rate a song too high on its first listen, but in tha future, I could be playin’ it more than a higher-rated song…

01. Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding “Miracle”
Label: Columbia
Crazy to know that all my files got scattered around recently, due to me transferrin’ to a new laptop & puttin’ them in tha OneDrive folder. I back my own files up, so I came across these two’s 1st collab, which was on tha April edition a whole decade ago. Now, here we are! Got to hear it quite often as it premiered throughout SXM but in today’s brainwashed, typical, unintelligent, selective world, I wouldn’t’ve predicted this would be tha 1st track on tha edition. I thought it was too good to happen like that but with tha way a person like myself can feel about themselves, I definitely can appreciate this. Let’s just hope tha world appreciates it, too…! I’m alwayz down to appreciate tha fastness, no matter how big these two artists are… Gotta luv tha quiet, building intro with Ellie singin’ it in a special way… Definitely feelin’ when tha fast beats kick in & Ellie continues to lay it down. It’s all about tha power of tha “Miracle” & I definitely feel it to tha maximum, courtesy of tha chorus & drop!! Also, continuously stayin’ fast iz DEFINITELY “a different high” & that’s one to appreciate! Alwayz! Tha 100.00% way! Definitely luv all tha trancey vibes in tha music! Definitely wanna consider appearin’ at one of these festivals, one day & I think this vibe’s gonna take where 2013 took tha energy of vibes a decade ago! Only this decade, I’m in full effect with tha appreciation! Also, with tha ending, gotta luv tha fade-out to tha track; good goin’, Calvin! Mainly had a crossover-pop perspective on his works but when it comes down to helpin’ tha fastness I grew up with revive itself, I definitely give him tha props! To tha maximum!! Let’s get it!! My Current Rating: 5.0

02. Steve Aoki & Galantis feat. Hayley Kiyoko “Hungry Heart”
Label: Dim Mak
Speakin’ of a decade, how about a half-decade, plus one month? That was tha only tyme our girl, HK, appeared on an edition (March 2018). I look back at those tymes of how my value doubled & I have to say, I’m in a much betta place, independently, personally & everything -ly. Now, fa 2023, let’s see how these peeps are so “hungry” for this “heart”… >>> Kinda gives me a Rita Ora-like vocal vibe goin’ on, in this 1st verse… Just sounds like a decent lil’ chorus; mainly, an okay track, so far… Hearin’ tha chorus build up to tha drop & tha drop’s pretty nice; I’ll give it a slight plus. Likin’ how Galantis add their twist with their “Hey!” effect. Also, a quick 2nd verse, here, just to get right to tha chorus… My Rating: 3.9

03. Tiësto feat. Sam Gray “All-Nighter”
Label: Atlantic
Likin’ this one a lil’ more than tha previous track; found out tha vocalist was Sam Gray & I was like, “I like how he sounds distorted,” when referrin’ to tha pitch. Definitely likin’ tha lyrics about havin’ a “24-hour party.” Definitely nice perspective, when it comes to tha “UNBREAKABLE” singer, lol. Beats are on that slap-housey tip but I like when they pick up after tha 1st part of tha chorus. Glad you continue to bring tha excitement out, Mr. Ësto! A quick track; there & gone, it feels like. Interestin’ how this generation likes things to come & go. At tymes, I like it a lot but also, I get nostalgic about tha more built tracks from tha past. My Current Rating: 4.4

04. ACRAZE “Take Me Away”
Label: Capitol
Funny durin’ these tymes, due to I neva woulda thought we’d hear Natasha Bedingfield “Pocketful Of Sunshine” be redone & now, here we are. I still rock plenty of shirts from those tymes of ’08 & I love ‘em. As far as this track, it’s just a simple house vibe with its guilty pleasureness of N-Bedingfield. My Current Rating: 3.4

05. John Summit & Hayla “Where You Are”
Label: Off The Grid/Darkroom
Likin’ this appearance from JS with his label makin’ a PODR appearance. Definitely a good look to a song that seems like it’s gonna be big. May not be my favorite but I can definitely appreciate tha energies these two brought to this track. Tha typical, uplifting sound that JS brings to tha track, as well as tha strength in addictiveness of Hayla’s voice/deliveries; gotta luv ‘em, no matter what! My Current Rating: 4.3

06. Joel Corry & Ron Carroll “Nikes”
Label: Atlantic
Got to hear a lil’ snippet of it, recently… In my mind, does Mr. Joel Corry need a cool lil’ house track to go with his Meghan Trainor remix of “Made You Look”…? *Rehears* I’ono… Seems like a decent lil’ cool track to rock your “Nikes” to, I guess? I would just replace “Nikes” with whateva green-glittered, spiked-out shoes I rock. I’ll have to sport them in tha live review, in three months—no matter how hot outside, that day! As far as tha rest of this track, most of it’s a lil’ repetitive with not many differences with tha music, throughout tha vocalizin’. When tha music hits durin’ tha drops, that’s where it’s mainly at, for me… My Rating: 3.8

07. Morgin Madison & Ryan Lucian feat. Emily Coulston “From The Start”
Label: Enhanced
One of tha bigger tracks I’m feelin’ & I’m glad it’s gettin’ more recognition! Definitely feelin’ tha energy from these two DJs, includin’ tha Emily Coulston contributions of tha awesome vocals…! I alwayz tend to appreciate Morgin’s music more durin’ tha evening; glad this anotha one of those bops…! Awesome energy throughout tha whole track that neva dies! My Current Rating: 4.7

08. GT_Ofice x Chris Padin feat. Krysta Youngs “Invite Only”
Label: Caine
Alwayz appreciate & anticipate a new one from my boy, GT! Also, collabbin’ with a new DJ for me & my gurl, Krysta… >>> Sounds like some anticipatin’ music in tha beginning… Definitely feelin’ tha build-up with tha title part…! Also, nice lil’ drop; definitely appreciate this smooth-but-awesome vocal approach… Definitely keep it “V.I.P.” & “low-key,” with this awesome chorus & lyrics! That “Invite Only” perspective seems tha way to go & GT, it seems like his songs have been recently definin’ who I now am. Literally, it’s like certain wayz to cope after tha unexpected violence from last year. “Moving On”, then tha sad vibes of “Never Together” & now, “Invite Only”. I feel like I have that perspective, due to how valuable I am & that people need to appreciate me, to tha maximum! My Rating: 4.5

09. Zara Larsson “Can’t Tame Her (VIZE Remix)”
Label: Epic
Back to tha unexpected fastness!! Gotta luv it with this one, includin’ that it’s gettin’ out there! I don’t wanna speak too-too much on it but I did a lil’ experimentin’ when I added this & “Miracle” to my playlist. Two awesome tracks with an awesome perspective to my greatness made me take a risk but I know what’s right! Tha experiment was to see why my younger cousin went a route, as well as tha dude who hit me from last year. In tha end, I’m proud to resist any addiction except full-tyme workin’! Did that risk for tha 1st tyme make tha world really show tha best quality in tracks & remixes, now?! Finally?! Tha right speed to have for tha best excitement?! Definitely what’s up with this Zara Larsson remix! This iz how we gotta turn our Calvins, our Ellies, our Zaras! They need tha awesome speed of this house vibe! Definitely what’s up, VIZE! Gotta not be able to escape this one, for tha spring! It “Can’t Be Tamed”, like Miley said a whole 13 years ago! My Current Rating: 4.8

10. FDVM “Body Over Mind”
Label: Robbins
A new Robbins track iz here, tho tha speed slowin’ down… >>> Sounds like a Purple Disco Machine-type of song but I’ono about these male vocals… I feel like I can appreciate this track a lil’ but I’ono how well it’ll do with every1… Tha drop reminds me almost of Yaz “Don’t Go”, especially with tha recent Oliver Heldens song samplin’ their other track, “Situation”. Likin’ tha lil’ tease, even tho it’s just an okay song for me. My Rating: 3.6

½tyme: Off to a nice start but more off to a start tha way I like it… Definitely luv how fast tha world iz turnin’ & it’s an inescapable feeling! I feel tha transition my family iz slowly makin’ to tha sunshine state & it’s a long-run objective I have for myself! With that bein’ said, I definitely gon appreciate this 4.2 rating for this ½tyme; I will continue tha awesome review…!

11. Bebe Rexha “Heart Wants What It Wants (MK Remix)”
Label: Warner
Let’s see how MK helped Ms. Rexha out… >>> An okay start but grew when I heard tha pre-chorus… Hearin’ tha chorus & it’s cool; I feel almost 75/25 with tha deep-house vibe. I like that it’s a lil’ faster than his usual productions, so that’s a plus for Rexha, here. Most of this seems okay, as it’s not as short as today’s usual tracks; tryin’ not to make this one seem like a drag… My Rating: 3.9

12. Sigala, Mae Muller & Caity Baser feat. Stefflon Don “Feels This Good”
Label: Arista
Got to hear & add this collab durin’ that special day, eight dayz ago… In tha right perspectives, “Feels This Good” would be tha right way to describe that day/night! With this track, of course, gotta luv tha Sigala energy in tha music, as well as tha “Better Days”ness of Mae…! Gotta feel tha perspective of Ms. “Better Days”, for these 2020s! Ain’t no betta way than to feel “so good” & tha chorus lets it be known! Also, thumbs up to Stefflon makin’ a random appearance… My Current Rating: 4.4

13. Taylor Swift “Lavender Haze (Felix Jaehn Remix)”
Label: Casablanca/Republic
Not too often T-Swift iz on here; I remember her most durin’ tha dayz when hit-mixed songs were all over Dance Radio. Durin’ her tyme gettin’ bigger & bigger, no PODR appearances. Now, we got this &… >>> Nothin’ really much to jump for joy about; just a remix that sounds okay, basically. Seems more boring to appear with its slowness; it can stay somewhere else… My Rating: 2.4

14. Paul Oakenfold x Rompasso x Velvet Cash “Sky”
Label: Perfecto
Wasn’t too sure how to anticipate this one, if it’s slower than slow… I’m hoping for tha best vibes, at least…! >>> Sounds just okay with these male vocals; kinda am expectin’ more from this collab… Likin’ tha drop & tha way it can make this tempo of 105 succeed… Hearin’ tha chorus & it sounds like one that would require growth in tha listener. That’s if it makes its way out to tha world… My Rating: 3.7

15. MK & Dom Dolla “Rhyme Dust”
Label: Ultra
“Lol,” iz all I can say. I like how these two collab’d on this one, with tha cool repetitiveness that reminds me of Q-Tip… Nothin’ but continuous beats & continuous vocals comin’ from left & right, lol…! My Current Rating: 4.3

16. ILLENIUM feat. Nina Nesbitt “Luv Me A Little (BONNIE X CLYDE Remix)”
Label: Warner
Wanted to appreciate this track more, so BXC came thru with a remix. Music Choice Dance got this remix & I thought it was okay; its slowed-down vocal vibe reminded me of when Quintino remixed “Sideways”. Now, here we are & tha vocal slowness iz okay; I like tha faster beats, at least… My Current Rating: 4.0

17. Muvy “Rolling”
Label: Enhanced
Don’t know how ta judge this one… I’mma just guess a slap-house vibe? >>> Sounds like a dance vibe that can be strong but then, these church-like vocals come in… Not too sure how much I can appreciate them but I like when tha build-up happens, in tha music… Hearin’ tha drop & it sounds cool; I like how it’s a lil’ smooth with tha vibe & then, it can still produce some nice energy. My Rating: 3.8

18. Jack Back & N.F.I. feat. Mýa Francis “Case Of The Ex”
Label: Spinnin’
“Case Of The Ex” (original) was my 1st-eva #1 song on my 1st-eva year-end countdown, which I did in January 2001! As far as it gettin’ redone like how “Pocketful Of Sunshine” got redone, I don’t really see a need to jump outta my seat fa this one. Just sounds a lil’ odd with tha distortion of Mýa… Too much of a “Do It To It” clone, imo… My Current Rating: 1.3

19. Don Diablo & Azteck “Not Alone”
Label: Robbins
Looks like one of DD’s surprises, with fastness that Robbins signed?! Just like how he killed tha December 2020 edition’s ratings with tha perfectly-rated “Kill Me Better”, will it be like that moment? I’ll have to verify & see what gon come outta this 138-paced track…! >>> Tha 1st verse sounds awesome with tha highway drivin’. However, now, we have a way to remake that I wanted to appreciate (tha fastness); let’s see what I say… Yeah, remakin’ tha old “You’re Not Alone”, which had been redone, previously. However, with these two DJs makin’ it faster than eva, I’m definitely down to appreciate this! Great thinkin’, y’all! Don’t know how special it’ll be with exposure or anything but it’s a winner for me…! My Rating: 4.6

20. HALIENE & Elephante “Hollow”
Label: Black Hole
Two artists I appreciate; not too sure how I’ll appreciate tha slow vibes, tho. >>> Nice vocals, as alwayz, tho I can’t really appreciate tha dragging of tha slowness… Tha chorus ehh, includin’ that slow drop… I think she should go back to tha vocal-trance vibes, especially with how these fast songs be comin’ from all different directions, these dayz! My Rating: 3.1

21. Eliza Rose “Better Love”
Label: Warner
Gotta luv how we end this edition with Eliza & her breakbeat fastness!! Gonna make sure I get tha best & most outta Eliza, durin’ tha tyme her tracks are out there! Even tho this a short edit, I definitely like enjoyin’ all tha fast beats. With this new track & how she comes through on it, I definitely am feelin’ these fresh-soundin’ vocals. So glad she owned 2022 with my #1 song of 2022 (“B.O.T.A. (Baddest Of Them All)”); good goin’ & I wish tha best with this one! Hope she continues to stay in this unique, fast direction ‘cause that’s where it’s at!! My Current Rating: 4.6

Overall: Thought this was a betta-than-average edition, even tho it had a few tracks that weighed down on tha average rating, overall. Still, definitely excited fa my upcomin’ trip to Texas—Dallas, this Saturday! Makin’ my debut there to get away fa a few dayz… Definitely feelin’ all tha energy & excitement throughout this edition to give birth to an awesome, upcomin’ spring; can’t wait!
