Review #2,048: Promo Only "Dance Radio February 2024"

Reviewed on 1.12.2024 (Review #2,048)

FrankieThaLuckyDog, here on a random day in January… Was ‘pose to count down my 24th annual year-end countdown of my Top 535 Songs of 2023. However, I took more tyme to relax & rest, rather than prepare my upcomin’ year-end countdown. Now, exactly two decades after I first got digital cable—including Music Choice Dance—now, here I am, 20 years later, reviewin’ Promo Only Dance Radio February 2024! Gonna feel them nostalgic vibes of two decades ago? We shall see; I’m definitely hyped for tha tracks, here! I wanted to review this b4 I got to my own year-end countdown. Crazy when tha anticipation flips around, at tymes…! Start Tyme: 9:45 AM | End Tyme: 11:11 AM

Disclaimer: I type how I wanna type (frequent use of “tha” instead of “the,” “iz” instead of “is,” “a”-ending words instead of “er,” and a few others). I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it, I like it how I wanna like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. Sometymes, I may not rate a song too high on its first listen, but in tha future, I could be playin’ it more than a higher-rated song…

01. Tiësto x FAST BOY “All My Life”
Label: Musical Freedom
Luv how I’m reminiscin’ about tha tymes of 20 years ago & tha energy I loved growin’ up to! Now, just like his Just Be dayz of ’04, here’s this edition kickin’ off with a 138 BPM Ësto! Heard a sample of this, recently, but didn’t get tha chance to add it. Now, here it iz, on tha review! Seems like an odd collab but tha way tha odd-soundin’ male vocals mix with tha hyper music makes for a future classic? Definitely feelin’ what they’re bringin’ to tha table, here…! Catchy chorus & them FAST BOY boyz keepin’ it movin’, here… Hope this puts Tiësto back in his faster zones! My Current Rating: 4.5

02. Wolfgang Gartner feat. Scrufizzer “Level Up”
Label: Dim Mak
Definitely lookin’ forward ta hearin’ a brand-new track from Mr. Gartner, here… With this brand-new featured artist, I’m hopin’ they made a dope collab! Lemme find out… >>> Sounds cool with all tha levelin’-up sound effects but I’ono if I can really take this one seriously. It sounds like somethin’ I’d hate in today’s world of rappin’, mainly about tha “money”! I love when music’s real & fun, not fake & “money”-hungry!! Not really feelin’ tha lyrics of tha rappin’ on tha 1st verse, even tho I do dig tha title part. Also, it sounds like Wolfgang done went disco? Leave that to tha Purple they call… Disco Machine!! Good try; maybe, a less-hungry-for-“money” vibe, next tyme? My Rating: 2.6

03. Eva Shaw “You Don’t Know Me”
Label: Mad Fatti
Brand-New label, here, tho an existing Eva Shaw! “Mad Fatti”? What kinda “Fatti” iz dis…?! >>> Sounds like an interesting female on tha vocals, like she’s not from tha United States? I’ono… I guess it seems okay? Tha chorus cool & I like that it’s at an average pace, fa me (128 BPM)… My Rating: 3.8

04. Peggy Gou & Lenny Kravitz “I Believe In Love Again (Jex Opolis Remix)”
Label: XL
This one’s out there & could Peggy bet her $$$ on Mr. Kravitz to help her out, just as big as “(It Goes Like) Nanana”? Keep believin’! I like that this remix speeds up from tha slower original. This way, it has more of a life for this leap-year month edition! As far as Peggy on her short vocal parts, they’re awesome to hear. With Mr. Kravitz, sometymes, his voice seems so innocent. However, he sounds a lil’ cheesy & desperate, when he “ahh-yeah”s us. That’s just my opinion… Thanx for tha music boost, Jex; simple, energetic beats to progress us to tha future…! My Current Rating: 3.9

05. John Summit & Mathame feat. Camden Cox “Hungover”
Label: Experts Only/Darkroom
Definitely a huge gem, right chea!! Reminds me so much of my Christmas light show experiences, last month! Also, a Louisiana trip! Definitely luv how all them collab on such a huge vibe of 136 BPM!! It’s literally like tha tymes of my upbringing of creating my own playlists, 20 years ago! Now, we’re in such a bigger perspective—as far as my experience & age goes!! Definitely huge with how Mr. Summit & Mathame combine, for such a fast, huge vibe!! Also, gotta luv Camden, as she alwayz appears on these tracks!! They may like tha “Hungover” but tha way I define tha “…hate being sober” part, I would say my “sober” = no THC… I saw this on there & had to down a (liquid) edible! Hadn’t had an edible feelin’ since October 5, 2022! S/O to “Hungover”, for tha resurrected feeling! Me, personally, I don’t get wrapped up in tha repetitiveness… when it’s on a fast note! My Current Rating: 4.9

06. Morgan Page “Anyone”
Label: Spinnin’
Back ta slowin’ down, after a fast intermission, if you wanna call it that! Let’s see how our guy does it fa tha 2024… >>> Sounds like an interesting, unknown vocalist, puttin’ in work… Tha music sounds good & tha chorus iz nice. I didn’t hear a drop, as tha 2nd verse just made its way in… Whomeva Morgan’s collaborator iz, I think he picked a good one, here. My Rating: 4.0

07. Loud Luxury feat. charlieonnafriday “Young & Foolish”
Label: Armada
S/O to these innocent tymes! Luv how they collab on this one, includin’ tha “young” feelings of charlie! Tha lyrics are definitely catchy, silly, “foolish” & fun, altogether! Tha “young” part reminds me of my college dayz of alwayz listenin’ & embracin’ music. Neva got wrapped up in all them drinking tymes & slowly built my way through tha highs. Now, here I am! “Last night, I threw up in my Uber. Sending drunk texts…” Just sounds irresponsible but a vibe that makes you wanna keep livin’ tha best life! My Current Rating: 4.2

08. Karan Aujla, Ikky & Tiësto “Softly (Tiësto Remix Radio)”
Label: Warner
Don’t exactly know what to expect… I really hope it’s somethin’ special but I won’t know until I press… >>> Sounds like it’s gonna be a weird, male-vocal house track… Just sounds like a bunch of ramblin’, on tha beginning vocals… Compared to how he started tha edition off, this iz too blah… It’s too bland… I’m not gonna say much more… My Rating: 2.9

09. Joy Anonymous & Sugababes “JOY (Push The Button)”
Label: Astralwerks/Capitol
Luv that, not only are we speedin’ back up but also, I’m gettin’ nostalgic feelings of those 2004 dayz of Sugababes! When tha United States showed them luv to their “Hole In The Head” & now, redoin’ their 2005 track of tha same name, it’s like tha U.S. iz appreciatin’ them, once again! Also, this “Push The Button” was redone by Henri, back on tha December 2007 Dance Radio edition! Only heard it once, so I’m gonna re-hear it… >>> Definitely luvin’ tha breakbeat vibe, here, as well as tha Sugababes! Like how these two collab fa a track like this! Remade, redone, it’s all good! Definitely nice to resurrect this track & tha breakbeat vibe! Awesome combo! My Rating: 4.6

½tyme: So far, pretty nice for an edition. Definitely feelin’ all tha speed boosts, like it was ’04 or somethin’! A 3.9 for tha average rating, currently. Can’t wait ta see what kinda hidden/new tracks are next!

10. Shogun “Shut Up Now (Dance With Me)”
Label: Black Hole
Whoa!! 146 BPM?! Talk about craziness, on tha speed!! Btw, y’all forgot tha closed parenthesis on tha title. It’s all good ‘cause I got y’all back with that one! Now, what will this even feel like…?! >>> Sounds like a nice, unique female, on tha vocals…! I’m definitely feelin’ tha fast vibes, here! I literally wanna toke!! *Tokes…* Whoa, those fast beats, after tha chorus!! Definitely luvin’ tha energy, at a dope speed!! Definitely nice to bring in tha new year, once again!! Tha song came & gone so fast… Lol, just like a regular speed, 128… seconds long, that iz! My Rating: 4.8

11. Hayla “Fall Again”
Label: Restless Minds
Courtesy of tha exclusiveness of Diplo’s Revolution, here comes this track. Deserves to be a big one? Alwayz appreciate her strong singin’ for tha dance world… Reminds me of a John Summit production, behind tha scenes… Definitely feel how she creates strength throughout all tha energy she’s surrounded by. Will this continue to be bigger for 2024? … My Current Rating: 4.4

12. Zerb feat. Sofiya Nzau “Mwaki”
Label: TH3RD BRAIN
Uh… a… weird one… Heard this throughout tha SiriusXM dance channels… I’ono, seems like it’s from anotha world far-far away. Based from Kenya, here’s this Sofiya. I’ont think she’s special like Kenya Grace turned out to be, last year! Must be tha accent? Flow? Plus, tha slower beats. Just sounds like a bland song from anotha world. My Current Rating: 2.5

13. Madelline “i’m only here for the beat (Evil Mix)”
Label: Robbins
Not too sure but excited for an updated version of this track. I think it needs some spice? What’s an “Evil Mix”? Hmm… >>> A hidden surprise…? Off to a similar start like its original was… So far, so similar… I’ono, it’s so strange… I must not know tha key as in figurin’ out tha exact difference between tha original & this “Evil Mix”. I’m just gonna copy/paste tha original’s rating, now as a current rating. My Current Rating: 4.2
EDIT: I’m not trippin’… Tha original was also #13 on tha December 2023 edition! 13

14. GT_Ofice x ALWZ SNNY x Robbie Rosen “Feels Like Us (Matthew Topper Remix)”
Label: Caine
This one appears again… Guess it needed a 2nd chance? A remix boost? >>> Okay… Sounds good for tha start, here; likin’ tha extra energy from MT… Good energy in tha 1st verse, as well as a nice chorus. However, tha drop a lil’ dry. Prolly coulda used some extra synth boosts? Overall, still a decent track. BPM only gave tha original version of this song, like, 16 spins. GT’s dream was to get a track on BPM. That’s what he told me… This one did it & even tho it didn’t chart much with me, BPM felt tha same. Will this remix help resurrect its lack of success? I give it faith but will keep tha faith with me, for now… My Rating: 3.8

15. Alan Walker, Dash Berlin & Vikkstar “Better Off (Alone, Pt. III)”
Label: RECORDS/Columbia
Sounds like some bonus energy to continue tha “Alone” series of titles… Neva got to add this one; I let Alice Deejay handle tha sample, once again. Nice remakin’ & feelin’ “alone,” just like how I’ve mainly been feeling amongst communicatin’ directly in tha media. Nice energy, between all them; hope they continue tha upbeat energy, continuously! My Current Rating: 4.3

16. Joe Bermudez “Diamonds”
Label: 617
Wound up gettin’ a sample through SiriusXM, not that long ago… I’ono, especially with Mr. Bermudez bein’ around 20 years ago, I don’t think he should fall in to this slap-house trap. Not to mention, remakin’ Rihanna, from 12 years ago? Just doesn’t seem like it would fit my interests. Just seems like bonus $$$... My Current Rating: 1.0

17. Cheat Codes & Sam Feldt “You Don’t Even Know Me”
Label: Casablanca/Republic
I’ono… My brain’s tellin’ me that, based off tha previous two tracks, iz this what I think it gon be like…? >>> More like a completely-new track… Nice to hear Trevor & tha CC back, once again. I kinda like & reminisce a lil’ slower vibe, here & there. A decent combo with Mr. Feldt; can’t complain, overall. Don’t know how interested I’ll be in this track, as tyme goes on. We’ll have to see if mainstream’ll take care of that. My Rating: 3.6

18. Steve Aoki & Yellowcard “Ocean Avenue”
Label: Dim Mak
Speaking of 20 years ago, I remember watchin’ MTV’s TRL with Yellow Card’s “Ocean Avenue” blowin’ up. Neva really liked tha original & kinda gag on it, now… However, Aoki spinnin’ it like… >>> Neva thought there’d be a Dance Radio edition with Yellowcard! Not to mention, in this fast, Luude-like way! “Spinnin’ it like…” a Luude-like way. Don’t know if I can really appreciate this or will it seem like a guilty pleasure? Tha faster Luude vibes transitioned to more of a slower vibe & vice versa. Seems like it’s nostalgically euphoric? Ahh, guess it’s a guilty pleasure, in tha end. My Rating: 4.1

19. Fred again.. & Baby Keem “leavemealone”
Label: Atlantic
Ending a 2nd February edition in a row with Mr. Fred again..! What a way to “Rumble”, if you know what I mean! As far as this collab, I definitely feel how they collab in such a unique way! Luv how Keem come through with his unique voice & delivery, here. Glad he doesn’t fit in tha watered-down stereotype of nothin’ but “money”! Luv how Fred again.. speeds it up, too; definitely awesomeness! My Current Rating: 4.7

Overall: Definitely seems like an edition that’s future nostalgic. I’m definitely feelin’ all tha fast-paced tracks, to tha fullest! Definitely lovin’ that we’re in a fast world, especially on this 20th anniversary of me gettin’ digital cable! I’m still usin’ tha same boombox from 2003 & tha RadioShack AUX cord I bought, back in January 2004! Definitely tymes, on a higher, extra-elevated level! With that bein’ said, I’m gonna be more & more excited for these upcomin’ reviewz! Think: This review pushed back my upcomin’ year-end countdown! Tha last tyme I started a year-end late like this was for my 2005 one! A whopping 18 year-end countdowns ago, when its 1st day of counting down was on January 14, 2006! Now, January 15, 2024, I will count down my Top 535 Songs of 2023! Can’t wait! Let’s get it…!
